see, man...it ain't me. when isiah was fuckin up (never denied he made shitty moves) his gotdamn name was used in EVERY transaction.

you ain't EVER coming on this board and omitting the name of the muhfucka making stupid decisions for the knicks without being called on your unconscious acceptance of white supremacy.

say his fucking name...EVERY TIME.

and enjoy tryna get rid of kyle o'quinn and that 4 million when y'all tryna squeeze in a big name free agent in 2 years.

Again, I was on board with many of isiah's early moves. I was glad when dolan made him coach. After a few years, clearly them moves ain't work, set us back some, and the off the court crap was the icing. At that point, isiah had to go.

Aside from this draft, which is TBD imo, feel has bombed this fagency and the chandler trade from last season. If they don't make the playoffs this year, which right today I don't see how they will, feel deserves to be fried. Cool?

Yes i'm mad and yes we sorry.

Name two more players on the same team (former teammates if Lin doesn't go to Dallas) that maximized their time in the league to maximum efficiency like Chandler and Jeremy.

Jeremy Lin made superstar bread last year. Shout out to his agent.

38. "so honest question: doesn't talking before July 1st indicate tampering?"
In response to Reply # 7

because a LOT of talk was made in Portland of that Neal Olshey draft night presser where he said LaMarcus had said he hadn't decided anything, but I firmly believed the "sources" that were giving quotes to ESPN that LaMarcus knew he was leaving and had a shortlist of teams.

So I thought about it a good amount, because fans were talking about it here, and I really think the explanation might be as simple as, "LaMarcus can't have discussions with other teams until July 1st, therefore he can't indicate anything about where he's going until then." And the reason the Blazers aren't trying to publicize internal talks with LaMarcus where he talks about leaving is because relationships with agents (prolly agents primarily) and other GMs need to be protected. So even though internally the table is set (thus, the Nic Batum trade), externally they need to deny they had discussed LaMarcus' departure.

So this assistant coach knew what he knew, but he didn't understand you can't share that until after July 1st, because of tampering issues. If that IS the concern in Portland, it's legitimately a fireable offense. If they just fired him because he goosed the fans, then fuck Portland. I think it was just an ex-jock that didn't know there are rules of engagement with the media, and honestly you can't keep a guy like that on staff.

Report: Lakers sign Lou Williams to three-year, $21 million contract
Sean Highkin Jul 5, 2015, 4:42 PM EDT

Lou Williams
Lou Williams
One day after trading for Roy Hibbert, the Lakers made their second move of free agency, signing reigning Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams to a three-year, $21 million deal. RealGM’s Shams Charania reported the signing, and Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the length and value of the deal:

There has to be another move coming. The only way the Lakers have the cap room to sign Williams to this deal is by shedding salary, either in the Hibbert deal or a sign-and-trade with the Raptors for Williams. The most likely candidate to be moved is Nick Young, if anyone will take his contract.

The Williams fit doesn’t make a lot of sense, either. The Lakers just drafted another scoring guard, D’Angelo Russell, with the No. 2 pick, and Williams is a high-volume scorer. Between Russell, Williams, Young (if he stays), Jordan Clarkson and a theoretically healthy Kobe Bryant, that’s a lot of guards and not a lot of minutes to divide up. It will be interesting to see how this works out.

Also, this writer Sean no idea what he's talking about when it comes to fit. Coach Scott has already said Russell (who btw is far more of a passing guard than scoring guard) and Clarkson are starting at the 1-2 which means Kobe goes to the 3. Lou becomes the first guard off the bench and dude can create for himself and space the floor.

he went to HS in memphis, knew the organization well, they already had pau, etc etc etc etc.

i always knew he was the centerpiece in the deal but he seemed like more of a grunt to me at that point, like a 10/10 guy so that's why i thought the trade was lopsided. of course i was wrong. memphis knew, but how did they covet him so much at that point but not enough to find a way to draft him? that part strikes me as weird, not in a conspiracy theory way, just in a huh-what-the-fuck way.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

If only coach Bron would let Blatt coach the team...

This is great news. Sign and trade Andy/Haywood (possibly JR) to Brooklyn. We lock in David West and our bench is set. Iso Joe + David West + Shump is a solid bench, IMHO.

That Iso Joe shit is played because he turned that into $100+ million. Bron forcing DG to spend money.

The offense was built around Jennings and Monroe last year when they went on that massive post-Smoove tear. Even after Jennings went down it was Augustin and Monroe for a while.

But once Jackson got there he and Monroe just didnt really fit. Monroe went down for a few weeks tho and RJ and Drummond kinda dominated.

Thats why Monroe's gone, and if RJ/AD is the future then might as well commit. They looked good enough to make a legit case for themselves (even tho i wanted Monroe to stay) and its not like they are saving money to make a run for any superstar, ever.

They'll have more than enough money to resign Drummond and KCP, and if Jennings is able to get healthy then all the better.

Fuck that money, we dont have another starter making more than 10. Drummond and KCP are on rookie contracts for 2 and 3 years respectively; small forward spot costs all of $7.3M between Morris and Johnson; and Ilyasova makes $8M. By the time anyone else needs to be reupped, the cap will be over $100M.

WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE

Depending on the seemingly imminent Dallas/Lin sign and trade, Mitch has made some moves that will pan out to make us an ok team. Some good vets, some dudes to teach the kids, and maybe good enough for 35-40 wins. No sense in bottoming out since we're going to almost assuredly lose the pick. No sense in maxing out dudes who aren't worth it.

I like this move.

In response to Reply # 65

He's a good fit, but I still see Parker and Ginobili being liabilities on the defensive end in a match-up between the Spurs and Warriors in a seven game series. David West is a perfect Popavich type dude though.

Were the Cavs trying to get David West? If so, I wonder if this move makes them more desperate for the rumored Joe Johnson move with the Nets.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

use her shrill voice and bad jokes as a weapon in that flick instead of the gun she's holding? I almost want to see that flick just to see how dumb Danny Glover looks rocking that headband. I hope that movie paid the bills comfortably for all the folks involved.

The rich get richer. With Aldridge & West the Spurs have landed two strong forwards that can shoot/space really well

West ranked 2nd, Aldridge 4th in NBA last season in percentage of field goal attempts from midrange (min. 500 FGA)

77. "Marc Gasol reups for 5 years 110 mill max"
In response to Reply # 0

The Memphis Grizzlies and star center Marc Gasol have agreed to a five-year max contract worth an estimated $110 million, sources told ESPN.

The deal includes a player option that would allow Gasol to opt out and become a free agent after the fourth year of the contract, according to sources.

Marc Gasol can opt out of his five-year contract with the Spurs after the fourth year, sources told ESPN. Andy Lyons/Getty Images
The exact monetary value of the deal, which was agreed to Monday, will be determined by the league's salary cap.

As ESPN reported last week, Gasol shunned the opportunity to let interested teams court him in free agency, signaling to the rest of the league ‎that the 30-year-old essentially was unavailable to everyone except Memphis.

‎Teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers‎, New York Knicks ‎and Milwaukee Bucks‎ -- all of whom had designs on making a run at the Spaniard in free agency -- abandoned all plans to pitch Gasol before free agency began.

Players and teams can come to verbal agreements on deals, but no contracts can be formally signed until Thursday, when a leaguewide moratorium on roster business is lifted.

Gasol, 30, was selected with the 48th overall pick by the Lakers in the 2007 draft. In the 2008 deal that brought his brother Pau to the Lakers, Marc Gasol's rights were sent to the Grizzlies.

In seven seasons with Memphis, Gasol has developed into one of the league's premier big men, winning NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. He was selected as first-team All-NBA last season, second-team All-NBA in 2014, and he has twice been named an All-Star (2012, '15).

Gasol has averaged double-figure scoring in all seven of his NBA seasons, with a career-high 17.6 points per game last season in 81 games, all starts. He was regarded as the anchor of one of the league's best defensive teams despite not being an elite rim protector (1.6 blocks per game last season).

Gasol was an integral piece to the Grizzlies' rise, leading them to 55 wins last season and a first-round playoff victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. The Grizzlies have appeared in five consecutive postseasons and made it to the Western Conference finals in 2013 before bowing out in four games to the San Antonio Spurs.

In 2011, Gasol signed a four-year, $58 million deal with the Grizzlies.

Before graduating from Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis, the 7-foot-1 Spaniard played professionally as a teenager for Barcelona (2003 to '06) and Akasvayu Girona before declaring for the 2007 draft. He played for Akasvayu Girona from 2006 to 2008.

Gasol holds career averages of 14.1 points and 7.9 rebounds in 517 games.

ESPN.com's Royce Young contributed to this report.

it must feel for LeBron and his people to make Dan Gilbert shell out so much money for that idiotic letter, I have to think Dan Gilbert is going to raise ticket and concession prices to recoup. When the Cleveland fans have to dole out $47.99 for two hot dogs and $10.99 for some bottled water to wash the dirty dogs down, they'll have LeBron to thank.

helps a ton in that Barbosa isn't asked to do too much heavy lifting off that bench. As long as Golden State didn't pay too much for him, that's not a bad resigning.

No terms yet, but I'm guessing 2 years/$12 mil (that's what's been talked about locally in the last week or so.)

Wolves got Nemanja Bjelica for 3/12, that's what you all need to watch out for.

@AminESPN
Talked about this on @RussilloShow RT @BobbyMarks42: If Wallace is stretched would cost GSW about $3.3 over next 3 seasons. Huge tax savings

@AminESPN
A $3M hit in higher cap years less detrimental than $10M now RT @karimthedream11: @AminESPN wouldn't that hurt cap space in future seasons?

@ZachLowe_NBA
Warriors could reduce their payroll by $12 million if they use the stretch provision, at the cost of 0 draft picks/future assets.

smart move by GSW.

per Z-LO DA GAWD (cross lee off the list, obv):

"The Clips will find a workable center somewhere, especially if they trade Jamal Crawford for Brendan Haywood’s non-guaranteed deal — a move, as reported by ESPN.com’s Marc Stein on Monday, that would give the Clips a trade chip to exchange for a big man.

Some ideas: Zaza Pachulia, Chris Andersen, David Lee, Chris Kaman, and, if they want to get really daring, Nikola Pekovic. The Clippers can do some of these deals with Crawford alone, but they would lose them from a talent standpoint."

They'll probably do something like trade Crawford for Josh McRoberts or Chalmers/Birdman to give them some big man depth and sign some reclamation projects that can bang against bigger centers like JaVale McGee or Andrea Bargnani and hope they can give them 20 decent minutes a game. And either way they'll probably close out games going small with Blake at the 5 and Pierce at the 4. If they finish out well out enough (like a 5 seed) they'll hope to get a free agent like Al Horford (best case) or Noah or Nene to be a more solid solution at 5 in free agency next year.

I'm actually not really opposed to them retooling their team by not paying DJ a max salary, it just sucks that they're salary cap screwed until next year. I mean that DJ/Blake/CP3 core topped out in the second round and the way teams play today it doesn't totally make sense to dump that much money on two bigs that play in the paint... the only thing that makes it hard to build around is that Blake isn't a paint protector on defense. But if they could find some center that can functionally bang against bigs for 25 minutes a night and build depth elsewhere that's not a terrible outcome.

That means Doc the coach and GM didn't see this coming at all. So he's asking DeAndre Jordan's agent to tarnish his reputation for the Clipper's benefit when max dollars wasn't enough of an incentive for DeAndre in the first place. What a massive, embarrassing L if that story is true. But I hope it isn't.

Nah...read the full story....DJ is "torn" about leaving the Clippers...lol...In fact, if this story is to be believed, the Clippers brass are not even talking to DeAndre's agent. They r bypassing his representatives all together and r talking directly to him.

We've seen something similar like this happen with J. Kidd, but not this extreme...And Boozer did the same exact thing to the Cavs....Bottom line: If DJ is confused on whether or not he wants to be Maverick Doc and his team would be fools not to take advantage of the situation...

DeAndre nor his agent told the Clippers top brass he wanted a bigger role? Was he afraid of asking Doc for more touches? Was be being a diva and wanted Doc to offer him the bigger role instead of asking for it? I wonder how many other guys DeAndre Jordan's agent handles right now. His reputation is going to be in the toilet if DeAndre changes his mind.

The more this story creeps out my views on DJ become solidified....While I think that he was delusional enough to think that he should have a "bigger" role offensively, I really believe dude was basically using that point as an excuse. In his heart he just felt like he wasn't being given the respect (and the HI-FIVES!) from the Clippers as an organization. Think about it. Doc and a few executives were reportedly the only representatives to show up to that original meeting with DJ with no teammates. I'm pretty sure DJ thought, "Oh, I'm just the help, huh?"...lol

The irony is I don't think it was a matter of the Clippers not respecting him as a player. They probably thought, "DJ has to know this is the best spot for him...Plus we can give him the most money..." And for good reason. He's a good (not great) defensive center with serious issues at the FT line and a heavy dependence on his PG to get him shots....

I wouldn't think he would be leaving either....The funny part is he may still leave.....

The only one coming off as shady is DJ....lol

Doc and crew r simply doing the most sensible thing. If DJ is "torn" and talking to former teammates about how he really wants to stay with the Clips (The reports had DeAndre hanging out with Blake earlier this week AFTER he made his decision) then what else do you expect to happen?....

The one getting the side eye should be DJ....lol

Thankfully, twitter is blocked at my job.

Kind of off the subject, I hope Kobe has a mic front of his face when he retires. I'm not the biggest fan of his, but hearing him chime in what the current and future players are doing has to be primetime entertainment. Witnessing his levels of not giving a damn is must see TV or must hear podcasting IMO.

I dont think he was hurt by Blake. Maybe cp3 and everyone else.

But what i read during the process were him and Blake are tight so they talk every day anyways and talked throughout that process. Blake mightve had a heads up.

The bigger dallas conspiracy theory when this happened was that this was the setup for DJ to go to dallas adn in 2 years when blake is a FA he'd head home t the midwest (hes from OKC) and join DJ there.

Blake and Parsons are pretty good friends too

I'm told by several sources Blake told DJ to make his own decision and he's support him either way. When he told him he was going (cont'd)

DeAndre Jordan's agent has to quit of GP, assuming he deals with other players; who is going trust that agent ever again?

What a complete and utter disaster, assuming all these reports are accurate.

The Rockets fans felt Fegan was in bed with Cuban and they engineered that deal to get Parsons to leave Houston ...its tricky but Fegan also knows what hes doing and how to play the game.

if DeAndre Jordan goes back to the Clippers and he remains unscathed.

For his sake, whatever team he ends up on, DeAndre Jordan has to produce offensively. To have all this drama circling him and not live up to all the crap he's been clamoring for would be a total nightmare. Just think what Chris Paul will say and do to him if he doesn't, assuming he goes back to the Clippers.

Getting these guys you worked with for years to all cut off their vacations, fly across the country, and give them a no at the end?

Or having Cuban, Parsons, and Dirk publicly butter you up for a week and flip on them?

Personally I think the guy should give the double middle finger to everyone and sign with the Lakers or something.

Saying, "Oh, who cares if Paul has to come back from the Bahamas a day early." Motherfucka, if I'm on vacation, then I'm on vacation. Especially a basketball player who spends the vast majority of the year busting his ass for the team, let him have his time with his family and friends for a fucking week. Now you're telling him to cut his rest time short because some other dude wants to feel like he's a special and unique snowflake? Kiss my entire ass.

I'm sure Chris Paul realizes that if he wants any slight chance of getting that ring in a Clippers uniform, he has to swallow his pride and do what's best for him in the long run.

You have to be loving this drama as a Warrriors fan know neither the Clippers nor Dallas stand a shot of beating the Warriors regardless of what DeAndre's decision is.

I'd just swallow the L this year, get the sixth seed, and wait until next off-season to try and court someone even bigger to sign with the Clips. You thinking money is being thrown THIS off-season? Next year is the final year of the current CBA AND the cap is increasing; it's going to be a fricking cash hurricane.

Haha. Don't get me wrong, I like that if DeAndre leaves it'll make the Clippers for less good and won't improve Dallas that much. And that the Clippers will look like a bunch of clowns no matter what. But I find this whole side show... unseemly.

just get rid of the moratorium period...make players fagents once the cap is set.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

right now its in place for NBA to get budgets right and set next cap not so guys could reneg on offers. Its never been done like this so my guess is if it happens---or even if it doesnt Cuban is gonna make a big fuss and thats the least of what will be changed.

Nuggets Finally Sign McDyess
Comment Shares 262 Tweets Stumble Email More +

Finally, the Phoenix Suns might be able to concentrate on signing Tom Gugliotta once and for all.
The Rocky Mountain News in Denver and The Arizona Republic reported Friday that Antonio McDyess signed with the Nuggets.

The Suns, meanwhile, focused their attention on Gugliotta, who arrived in Phoenix late Thursday night.

"We met with him last night," coach Danny Ainge said Friday. "We're waiting on his decision. I don't know what time frame that is -- 24 hours, 48 hours or eight hours. I have no idea."

The Suns had found it difficult to believe McDyess would leave them for the lowly Nuggets. But after McDyess announced his choice on Wednesday night, the Suns quickly regrouped and were close Thursday to signing Gugliotta as a consolation prize.

Then McDyess had second thoughts. Ainge confirmed three Suns -- Rex Chapman, Jason Kidd and George McCloud -- flew to Denver Thursday to try to persuade McDyess to come back to Phoenix. The Rocky Mountain News reported the three were outside McNichols Arena in a limousine, apparently talking to McDyess by cell phone late Thursday night.

And McDyess' agent contacted the Suns on Thursday night to ask if they were still interested.

The answer was yes.

"We're interested to hear what led to this," general manager Bryan Colangelo said. "It would be shortsighted not to listen to what Antonio has to say. Waiting one more day can't hurt."

However, apparently McDyess finally decided Denver was the right place after all.

The Suns said Thursday they renounced 10 free agents, including McDyess, to create some of the salary cap room that would be needed to sign Gugliotta. But later, they said that McDyess' name was included erroneously and that he was not renounced.

That raised speculation he still was considering re-signing with Phoenix. McDyess showed up at McNichols Arena in Denver, where a news conference was planned to announce the signing, but the announcement was called off.

Negotiations continued in the Nuggets' locker room, and eventually all parties retreated to a luxury box to watch the Colorado-Calgary hockey game with no contract signed. McDyess was seen in animated conversation on his cell phone.

The Suns managed only an informal workout this morning, with Danny Manning the only player under an approved contract on hand. Luc Longley was there. He said he had signed his contract with Chicago on Thursday. The Bulls are to send Longley to the Suns for Mark Bryant, Martin Muursepp and Bubba Wells, but the deal hadn't been approved by the NBA as of this morning.

"It will go through," Longley said. "I'd have to throttle somebody if it didn't."

The Suns had been prepared to offer McDyess the maximum seven-year, $86 million allowed for a team to retain its free agent.

Colangelo said Wednesday night the team would be able to clear a maximum of about $8 million to offer a free agent such as Gugliotta. That's short of the $9 million maximum allowed under the new collective bargaining agreement, but the figures were close enough that it wouldn't be a problem, a source close to the situation said.

The six-year contract worth about $60 million would contain a clause allowing Gugliotta out of the deal after five years, when he would be eligible for a much bigger raise as a 10-year veteran.

Gugliotta averaged 20.1 points for the Timberwolves last season, but missed 41 games after foot surgery.

He could have made $86 million over seven years by re-signing with Minnesota, but has indicated all along that the money would not prevent him from signing with a team that he felt was the right fit for him.

Gugliotta, 29, played four seasons in Minnesota after two seasons with the Washington Bullets.

The Suns did not renounce Clifford Robinson or Chapman. Robinson's agent, Brad Marshall, told Phoenix radio station KATR Thursday that Robinson reached a five-year, $30 million contract agreement, but wouldn't confirm that when the McDyess situation developed later in the day.

Chapman's agent, David Falk, who represents nine other free agents, was unavailable for comment.

The Suns renounced the rights to McCloud, Kevin Johnson, George McCloud, Mike Brown, Horacio Llamas, Loren Meyer, Marko Milic, Dennis Scott, Wayman Tisdale and Hot Rod Williams.

Johnson is gone for sure and Tisdale is retired from the NBA, but still has money charged to Phoenix's salary cap. The NBA has eliminated the 56-day waiting period to re-sign renounced free agents, meaning the Suns might be able to able to re-sign some of its renounced players, including McCloud.

Jeremy Lin 林書豪

Going into my first true free agency as an NBA player this off-season, the one thing that mattered to me the most was finding a team that would be a good fit for me. I wanted to be on a team where I would be able to play freely and truly play the game I love with joy again. That has always been the most important thing to me. After a LOT of prayer and long discussions with family and friends, I wanted to personally let you guys know I'll be joining the Charlotte Hornets.
My journey has never looked the way I (or anyone else) thought it would, but God has always worked things out for my good and I am confident that he will continue to do so. I want to thank Coach Clifford and the Hornets organization for this opportunity - for taking the time to talk to me, understanding my game, and most importantly, making it clear they believe in me. For those of you who have been patiently waiting for news, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for joining me on this journey. To the Lakers organization and the city of Los Angeles, thank you for your support this past season.
I have no idea what is coming next, but I promise I will do everything in my power to contribute to this team and to improve as a player and as a person. Here’s to the next chapter! ‪#‎audienceofOne‬ ‪#‎BuzzCity‬
