"Poll question: If Klay Thompson disappears, does he get fried?"

Honest question©OE

I'm just wondering because it seems like he has a completely free pass and that's fine if he has it, I just want to know so I can stop wondering why no one (on or off the court) is looking at him in crunchtime.

Poll result (10 votes)

I get that he was expending energy on defense in the Houston series but they need him to contribute more at the offensive end now that he won't be matched up with a big scorer. He seems to be recovering well and now he still has another week. No excuses, he needs to be good for the Dubs, whether it's some of the explosive stints he had during the year or just more consistent offense.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

"One Klay-related nitpick (and I love his game): He has looked a little deer-in-the-headlightsy on some pretty big stages. Game 6 clincher over Denver, 2013: 3-for-13, 7 points. Last four playoff games vs. 2013 Spurs: 10.3 ppg, 34 percent FG. Last two playoff games vs. 2014 Clips: 12.0 ppg, 31.8 percent FG. 2015 3-point contest: final-round flame-out. 2015 All-Star Game: 2-for-11, 7 points. Not a good trend. Might be a massive coincidence."

it's definitely something to keep an eye on. they don't win this if he doesn't come through.

But at the same time he was being guarded by one of the league's worst defenders.

And he was not always on Harden either.

I dunno man, I feel like it's the NBA, you're a star. At a certain point you have to show out. I don't want to hear about how tough it was with Shump on him or how chasing JR around took him out of his game.

Plus he gotta have some grapes, man, these are the playoffs. I didn't see LeBron or Kobe crying about that or nutting up, shit I didn't even see that from Rip Hamilton and they were playing against a healthy Allen.

The Rockets series I give him, sure, he had to work hard on D and did a good job at times, too. Now that's no longer a factor, he's gonna be guarding Iman Shumpert and JR Smith, not exactly KD and Russy.

He balls or he gets fried, like any star.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I'm really hoping he ain't a NyQuil. There are definitely times he has disappeared

But then other times -- like when curry fell on his head -- Klay comes out looking for blood. Idk the jury still out. This series will be the deciding factor

spontaneously. in this series i think having a second big score would be a big advantage for them, and they have to hope that they use their depth/pace to tire some guys out on cleveland.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

...him being better than Jimmy Butler.

This post is barely a step above shitting on Barnes after he helped the Dubs make the Finals. Much like Klay.

I swear, people find the weirdest shit to whine about.

Never, ever, ever have I made a post about Jimmy Butler or thought about him at all in relation to Klay Thompson.

Feel free to try and prove me wrong but you would be wasting your time. I like Jimmy Butler well enough, he plays for my team, but I literally never think of dude if a Bulls game isn't on.

It's a simple question. If Klay goes NyQuil this series, as he has done before, will he shoulder a significant portion of the blame or no?

After all, it is most certainly Curry's team.

But on the flip side, he is supposed to be an elite player.

You may not find it an intriguing question, but by no OKS standard is it dumb.

2015 playoffs

Jimmy (12 games)- 22.9p/5.6r/3.2a/2.4s/0.8b, 44.1% FG, 38.9% 3FG, 81.9% FT (Numbers slightly consistent to reg season, some slightly higher, some slightly lower)

Klay (15 games)- 19.7/3.7/2.7/0.9/0.7, 45.9% FG, 42.5% 3FG, 75%FT (outside of rebounding, all these numbers are down from his reg season avgs)

Add to it that Jimmy played a big part in holding bron to 39.9% shooting (10% from 3) and Klay getting roasted by Harden...Klay might be better but Jimmy has been better during the playoffs.

Sometimes players slump coincides with the playoffs...or they got locked down in a bad matchup for them. Ish happens.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

I'm talking about if at the end of this series, he was just another guy out there...that's the question.

Crunchtime, is he making plays? Is he being aggressive and pressing the issue? Is he showing up, plain and simple.

Win or lose, I feel like Klay Thompson needs to play like he and his teammates think he is the second best player on the team and one of the best players in the league. Not a tan Kyle Korver.

No one thought anything of Klay in that draft and I was sick to my stomach when the Cavs passed on him.

Luckily, Tristan has made me get over that.

Now, Dion instead of Drummond...that's just an L. We lost really bad.

of these playoffs

a slight dip in production might be expected playing MEM

although that would be a plea cop for damn near anybody else held in the same regard as Klay

but that continued dip in production vs HOU isn't so easily dismissed

of particular concern is the drastic fall in shooting %s

which is usually fatigue

again, a plea cop for anybody else

and of course the built in plea cop of the K.O.

for all the well done orders that damn near everybody else gets

it is strange that the fryer isn't even warmed up for Klay

I got a tub of EVOO on deck for him.

not trying to call you out, just my request for the boards

SAY SOMETHING

put some parameters on it

tired of MFers just saying some whimsical shit

and then running in here upping posts on some, called it steez

called what exactly, you never said shit to begin with

anyway

obviously, if GS wins, nobody's gonna run to the kitchen

but let's put some numbers on it, if they lose

if they lose, and his numbers rebound to his averages

ehh, I'm okay with it

but if he doesn't show out for at least a game, i.e. +30pts

AND continues to put up sub-average numbers for the series

yeah, it's time to fry

should we use Lard

I said EVOO because I would expect it to be healthier

but we're going for crisp here

I'm open to suggestions

I myself have no stomach for whimsy. Disppears for me would basically encompass "continuing to play the way he has thus far this offs". Not just in statistics, but also an ability to take over when his team needs him and effectively fill that Scottie Pippen role

Sounds reasonable

>should we use Lard
>
>I said EVOO because I would expect it to be healthier

Yeah, one would think so but actually EVOO poses health hazards when heated beyond a certain point (some would say at all)

Lard would result in best crispness but Grapeseed Oil would come close while also being much healthier, if you want to cover all your bases

If you've played the game you know that when you're guarding the other team's best player, that takes a lot away from your offense. You can only go balls out at one end of the floor and then you use the other to kind of take what's given.

The troubling thing with Klay is that he has a history of lousy lines in big games, but it's a brief history. That's a secondary reason why his play in this series will be important, the primary one is that they need him to play well to win.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

At the end of every game Thompson is literally hiding in the corner, not moving, hands at his sides, HIDING behind his defender!

I was unaware of his reputation for folding in big games, so I can't comment on that. I just noticed something was off about him. It doesn't 100% mean he's not fully confident in himself, but it means something.

Curry looked visibly frustrated the majority of game three, the culmination was him shaking his head after The Australian hit the off balance floater while absorbing contact from Curry.

Is anyone going to mention how pitiful Klay's Finals performance has been so far?

I'm 100% rooting for GS right now, for the record, but this motherfucker is a fucking fraud.

He is completely content to just be "a guy" out there during an NBA Finals where he is supposedly the 3rd best player on the floor.

Either he is wildly overrated or scared shitless. Either way, I am embarrassed for him and his family.

effort to get him the ball... that 4th q comeback in Cleveland especially he'd like 1 shot and go 9 trips without even a touch, it just doesnt seem like he's touching the ball nearly as much in this series...

Not to mention he's the only reason they didn't get completely blown out in game 2

depends on it and overplays the passing lanes a lot. Don't really see klay involved in pnr too much either. They should let klay set some picks on Currys defender...you can't trap hard on Curry that way and if you do, Klay.........bang. (c) breen

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

or is he strictly a spot up jump shooter? I think I already have the answer based off my limited time watching him play this season, but I want the answer from folks that have seen him play more.

he can drive it, more of a catch and shoot, spot up or one-bounce shooter though.

i dont really value guys who can dribble into a jumper, overrated skill IMO and they certainly don't need it with steph there.

I didn't see much evidence of it in this Finals series. He's a young cat, so he still has time to add that to his game. Hopefully him seeing limited success outside of the 31 points he had in game 2 will motivate him to add that to his game.

Lebron going insane but w/out Klay doing anything really noticeable outside of playing pretty solid defense.

GS really built a squad from the best to the worst. Justin Holiday, a UW alum like myself, is probably the "worst" player on the team and he was a nice contributor during the season.

I'm shocked. Credit due. He stepped up big time unlike last year.

But umma also need him to not disappear in game 7 or Finals.

I owe everybody on this board an apology for what I wrote above. I let my self be swayed by the moment, by the enthusiasm of the mob, and denied something that I knew to be true; that Klay Thompson is shook and overrated.

I apologize. I must do better and I WILL do better. Moving forward, I intend to cook that loser into fondue.

sincerely,

me

LOL@your troll post cysing Melo for having the next to the lowest FG%

who would be 2nd lowest?

I'll wait

I want it noted, that while all the back and forth banter through the first 4 games about who's doing what, who's not playing well, who saved us, etc...

Klay's name was not mentioned.

i.e. you missed the point of this post

the answer is no

when he doesn't show, nobody says shit

you can troll the board waiting 4 more games for homie to show up
