"So...how long til the Wolves are running the NBA?"

Thats the one franchise whose future I'd take over the Bucks right now.

And with the West powers getting older or having Chris Paul as their point guard, outside of The Brow, I don't see someone coming up against that much talent

They should at least be playoff good. Rubio will probably be gone, but LaVine, Wiggins, Towns (who I actually think is the better fit) and Dieng is a nice core.

Gotta find the right coach, though (I don't think Flip wants to be both GM and coach.) The job should be more attractive now, though. There's a good young core, no more uncertainty about what Kevin Love's going to do and you don't have to work for David Kahn.

Nerlens is better than Wiggins.

We'll see what I guess Russell does.

Lotto picks coming from Miami and/or L.A. next draft.

No pressure to draft any of the bigs bc they both will be gone and have your choice of Russel or Mudiay to run point.

still a first-team All-NBA member of the Philadelphia 76ers?

I don't really feel the need to hope for that.

The Sixers swept the TWolves last year with Nerlens and D-Leaguers.

Got no concern about not being better than them adding Embiid + Russell to Minnesota adding Towns who already doesn't wanna be there.

Embiid ROY next year, book it, assuming he stays healthy

Noel was better than Wiggins this year but long term I dont know. Apple/orange comparison.

Overall I would definitely take Philly's situation over Minnesota. Just as much in-hand promise and loads of assets going forward. Both are criminally mismanaged franchises, but the Sixers at least have the hope of relatively new ownership and brass

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

And you'd rather have an elite rim-protector which Nerlens basically already is (who can also hit free throws, steal at an abnormal rate for a big and will average double-digit boards/points, quick/athletic enough to guard three positions) than a 20 PPG borderline-all-star wing which is pretty much what Wiggins projects to be.

room for more than one frontcourt rebounder, Nerlens projects to be rotating between 4 and 5 since Embiid has offensive range well out to the three-point line.

not sure what you're basing that on..

in my mind I'm making them all out....and I don't see how Embiid would be decisively better than Towns or Okafor.....

plus he's been hurt.....

plus we have to see how he collabs with Nerlins.....

lots of question marks for Embiid..

he actually doesn't have to be an all star for him to be valuable to a Sixer team on the come up..

The Sixers sit in a pretty advantageous spot right now.... but considering how they got here, I'm not sure they can make it work in the long run... but Russell, Noel and Embiid are a nice trio to start with...

anywhere near as complete a player as Joel Embiid if he stays healthy and that's made all the more shocking by the fact that he didn't pick up a basketball until age 17 when Luc-Richard M'Ba Moute came overseas to Cameroon for an NBA Cares program.

He was supposed to be a red-shirt at Kansas since he'd only been playing ball for like a year and instead he was so good they had to play him and he quickly stole Wiggins #1 draft spot.

Bill Self says he's the most gifted player he's ever coached.

Dude has a jump-shot out to beyond the arc plus post-move niftiness he shouldn't have around the basket at this stage.

He's been spending a year watching while making sure to heal properly amongst the same group of coaches/teachers who just made Noel go from a 40% free-throw-shooter to a 65% free-throw-shooter in a calendar year.

He's bigger than both Towns & Okafor while when you watch him run the court he glides like you'd see a swingman like McGrady, not labor like a big.

He's better at defense already than Okafor will be even at his best and he'll probably have more offensive versatility than Towns will ever develop.

I'd be surprised if he's not the best center in the league inside his first three seasons.

There is absolutely zero question marks about Embiid besides will he remain healthy.

If he was healthy in the draft, he was #1 in last year's draft and would be again in this current one.

They got here by having a bad owner, bad management and trading for Andrew Bynum.

They've solved all of those issues, will have a better trio of 21-and-younger building block players than any other team in the league, multiple draft picks outside their own still owed to them, a kid stashed in Europe coming in the following season after that and full financial flexibility.

I wouldn't trade places with Boston, Millwaukee, the Lakers, the Knicks, the Magic, TWolves, the Heat or any of these other teams who were in the lottery with them last night.

but I've seen him before even being medically cleared in shoot-arounds drilling threes routinely without even jumping like they were free throws.

you could give DeAndre Jordan, Andre Drummond, Dwight Howard, Nerlens Noel & most other big men all day to hit 8 out of 10 from beyond the arc with no one guarding them and you'd still be there at dawn.

You could say "I need to see it on the court" about everything since he hasn't played an NBA game yet but what fun would that be?

I will gladly bet anyone here that he will be better this season than any rookie in this class you want to take in opposition.

Have felt that way since December of his freshman year versus Georgetown & like another freshman who caught my eye in a Georgetown game 20 years ago, I couldn't be happier about him ending up on my team.

LeBron James ain't walking through that door.

I like Wiggins and Towns but they aren't like LeBron and Duncan level No. 1s where you just *know* titles are in their future.

Rubio can't stay healthy. Their UCLA have a lot of potential but also the potential to squander it. We'll see. I definitely think it's a mistake thinking they will run into limited resistance elsewhere in the West. Ws are young. Harden is still in the front of his prime. Blake and DJ are young. KD and Russy ain't dead yet, still smack in their primes. The Spurs have a young centerpiece and are a strong enough organization to rebuild. The Pelicans are on the rise and Phoenix is probably a little ahead of them in their overall development (but no Brow!). I dunno I am not seeing a West without a lot of competition any decade soon.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

This is the Western Conference, you can't walk through it. True today as it was when KG, Wally and Terrell Brandon were getting knocked out of the first round for always.

And with the West powers getting older or having Chris Paul as their point guard, outside of The Brow, I don't see someone coming up against that much talent

To be fair, Ellington was like the 29th pick in the draft

If you want to mock Minnesota, mock them for taking TWO point guards at 6 and 7. Mock them for trading Ty Lawson for a pick that eventually turned into Martell Webster.

Drafting Rubio ahead of Curry was common sense at the time. Everyone had Rubio ahead of Curry. Everyone. Plenty of mocks had him going as high as 3.

Most had Flynn and Curry as, at worst, a toss-up decision, both to go in that 6-10 range. Rubio and Flynn both going ahead of Curry was, at best, a shoulder shrug. Since literally *no one* expected Curry to be an MVP-caliber player.

The problem was them both going to the same team. And them insisting later that the two of them could play together. Which was, and is, utterly bonkers, regardless of what you think Flynn could've been had he avoided injury.

Plenty of things to make fun of Minnesota for-- but those two players getting drafted ahead of Curry isn't really one of them.

Blake-Evans-Curry-Harden-Derozan-Rubio-Jennings-Hill-Clark-Hendo were my top 10 prospects of 09.

And ThaTruth definitely hated Rubio from day one lol. I feel like riding for him has returned to me the bitter taste of Mark Macon's physical fallapart from my youth.

this guy is coming over, scouts are saying he's better than Mirotic. Euroleague MVP, been killin it at EuroBasket for Serbia.

this is shaping up quite nicely.

oh, and Sam Mitchell is the new interim coach. perfect guy to get effort from a young team and teach them how to handle themselves.
