He's not a top 3 QB in the league anymore, but he's still among the best QBs in the league and can contribute.

I guess if he doesn't feel like playing anymore that's one thing, but it's not like he needs to get out and is embarrassing himself.

I think he wants to win another ring so bad that he'll come back for at least one more try but once we really see him deteriorate I think he'll walk away without hesitation.

Heading into the 2015-2016 season I would at the bare minimum take:

Rodgers, Wilson and Luck before him.

That's without bringing the Brady debate in or anyone else you may want to debate. I don't think if we are talking about what QB you want on your team for a full season starting today those 3 can come after Peyton.

They really established a run game at the end of the season, a full season of that to help keep Peyton fresh and healthy and a few breaks their way and they can still take a title home with this roster.

But when it comes to playoffs he's done. His body is failing him. The conditions have to be perfect. I think if he played in a dome it would help. But dude looked like he was throwing a Nerf football out there. The Colts' defense isn't even that good and they made him look pedestrian.

he's going to lose weapons next year...it'll be impressive if Julius and Demaryius is on this team next season...

their long-term cap/roster future to give it another go.

And by the way, Hakeem Tallib was actually picked on and abused yesterday while those old d-ends never touched Luck.

Peyton might also hope to be healthier next January, which is a gamble of course based on age and ability to recover.....however it's a gamble you make if you love to play football and they wanna pay you 19 million to do so.

perhaps due to already having ACL surgery, a drug suspension and some legal issues on the resume.

But yeah, he does seem to be a bit of that Brian Orakpo in him where he ends seasons with good sack numbers but usually while feasting in games against weak opponents when he has a mismatch but overall he's not always having an impact in big spots against better comp.

I put Osi Umenyora in a similar category.

1) NINETEEN MILLION DOLLARS

2) LOVING TO PLAY FOOTBALL

3) Being on a pretty good team who have had a puncher's chance every season he's been there so far and likely will again next season while again mortgaging future funds and assets.

4) Said team run by a guy who won two Super Bowls at the end of his career being less than Peyton Manning was this year.

5) Not wanting to end his career on a playoff loss to the franchise and QB who replaced him.

6) Knowing that he was having one of the most statistically effective seasons he's ever had before being slowed by the torn quad issue in the final month.

7) aforementioned guy running team likely consulting him on the next coach.

8) 19 Million to play his 19th year in the league.

9) The competitive pride and drive that helped him become Peyton Manning.

10) Football

I take back what I said earlier. He'd better come back to erase the taint of Favre. He can easily pass for that amount of yards.

Outside of Gronk, my Patriots have far less weapons for Brady to work with than what Manning has in Denver. I'd take them receivers any day over Edelman, Lafell, and Amendola.

to even talk about as if Brady's somehow slighted here.

Half the dudes on Denver either are hurt/finished like Welkah or have a name primarily due to Peyton Manning giving them one as he did countless guys in Indy and bums like Eric Decker.

I like both Thomas boys fine but if you think either of them is as dependable or as much of a freak mismatch as a healthy Cro-Magnum-Man mutation like Gronkowski then I don't know what to tell you.

Even Belasterisk's pressed-to-trade-guys-early ass would hang up on the Broncos wanting to swap any of them for Gronk.

Gronk is the best of the combined group (even tho D Thomas is closer than u seem to realize) but after him the next 3 are Broncos

The gap between Gronk and DT is a lot smaller than the gap between Sanders and Edelman

He has a huge ego and he'll keep chasing rings and numbers as long as he has a reasonable chance of doing so, but he already came close to retiring once and he has actual interests outside of football (mostly business related). By most accounts Brady is actually the guy who doesn't have much of a life outside of football, but Peyton has already come close to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and he'll plenty of other things to do once he retires and I'm sure he'll have a media spot open for him if he feels like it.

you know Mike Bajakian is looking for a job if he shows interest

what kind of recruiting bump would that be for a school that already oversigns, er recruits very well

Most of the great coaches topped out as bench players, journeyman starters at best.

Plus could you imagine actually getting coached by that guy? "Alright LeQuan that's actually supposed to be 4 Omaha's as in Omaha Omaha OMAHA Omaha with an accent on the 3rd - NOW RUN THAT SHIT BACK! And I know you'll be giving up dessert at the dining hall for you and the guys to practice routes in the quad RIGHT?"

40. "agree, he'd easily have a job in media"

Like a good job sitting at the table on Sunday on CBS or fox

Way easier than a coaching job

Only thing is if he's ready to be out of the game and done

He'll be around 2-3 more years at least
