>see nobody's even thought about Fitzgerald
Isn't it time to say that Larry has fallen off at least some? I love the guy and called him the best playing out loud with cussing for years. Routes, hands, open a lot for a guy who 'wasn't fast', physical. He was also regularly getting chunk yardage plays. I remember seeing him at Pitt via random channel-flipping and/or highlight-watching on Saturdays and thought 'that dude is gonna be a problem on Sundays'. Then, once Warner showed up, I was in support fo sho! AKA I have a Larry jersey. But really tho...since then, his catch % has dropped something terrible. And it isn't all because of QB play even if the drop from Sweet Sweet Kurt Warner to *anyone they've had since* at QB is so real. But I've seen him drop passes. He 'looks slower'. And he's constantly nursing an injury of some kind. And the chunk yardage is a 2x a season type of thing. Dez is pretty much my guy for The Larry Experience now.
And Big Rusty Andre? Maaaaaan, don't even start me. He's been playing half-hurt for years. I watched him play without cutting for at least one full season. Plus, he has been clocked out mentally at least a little bit too. When he makes a grown man catch with his hands and not Jacoby-style (you know what I mean...arms, chest, having to fall to make sure he doesn't drop it), I'm surprised. I've called him a less physical TO without the press conference one-liners for years. When he cussed out Schaub on the sideline and left the game early, I thought 'the secret' was out but no...folks defended HIM.
And he was also Bowe-like as it relates to gobbling up empty/cheap stats vs drop zones in games where the Texans were usually hopelessly behind after a few 3 and outs and their defense being terrible. I've watched him drop 3rd and short tecmo bowl slants early in games for years and it pissed me off beyond words to listen to folks compare him to Larry and Calvin with straight faces when the Texans started winning a little bit more than before a couple years ago. And now he just doesn't get open as much (cuz he's older, slower, less physical, and somewhat clearly less interested). AND he fumbles in traffic a lot for a guy who isn't exactly a YAC master. He gave his best pro years to a hapless new franchise and didn't get the love he deserved when he was more high end, but I ain't bestowing anything close to a top 5 WR to him now.
