High School Quarterback Forgets Clock Rules, Costs His Team in Play-in Game
All Spanish Fork (Utah) High School quarterback Jason Money had to do was waste four seconds against Maple Mountain (Spanish Fork, Utah) High School and then either go down or throw the ball away to send his team to the state tournament.
However, the signal-caller apparently didn't know how the clock works in football.
With 3.7 seconds left in the Class 4A state play-in game, Spanish Fork held a 14-11 lead over Maple Mountain and was faced with a fourth down. Instead of punting, the Dons elected to try to waste time to end the game. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the call, but it didn't work out the way the coaches drew it up.
Money ran until he saw the clock hit zero, then gave up on the play. The only problem with that is that this wasn't basketball. Football plays don't stop once time runs out in a quarter; the ball has to be ruled dead. The Golden Eagles were able to strip Money and return the fumble for the game-winning touchdown.
That is why you play until you hear the whistle, kids.
One of Money's coaches has come to his defense on Facebook, saying that the loss is on the coaching staff.
After having lined up in victory formation just moments before, Spanish Fork's (6-6) season had suddenly come to an end. Maple Mountain (4-7) advanced to the first round of the state tournament.

Lol
-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

2 sec left on the clock. We are up 21-17. We are on the road in hostel territory We are on defense. My boy, my folk, my neighbor was playing corner against their top guy. This is the regional game to get to the semi's.
Ball is snapped and my boy just needs to cover the WR as he did well all game. When the game horn sounds my boy abandons his coverage, takes off his helmet and throws it while running to the side line ready to celebrate the win.....not so much. The apposing QB tosses a 30 yard dart to the WR sitting in the endzone all alone. Ball game, we lose, season over. My boy cried on the field like a little baby. He thought the game ended when the horn sounded. The look on his face when he realized what just happened I will never forget.
To this day we still give him hell about that game that was almost 20 years a go.

Dat lil nigga committed a mercy killing!
You know those play-in teams always get seeded against a #1 then they gotta travel all the way to the other side of the damn state only to get thrashed 70-0, then on that long ass ride back home you saying to yaself "Is this what we busted our asses to get to?!?"
