Oct 22nd 2014
7

Oct 22nd 2014
9
if i don't get it, why did i score 20 ppg more last season?
Oct 22nd 2014
20
More than me? Did we have the same team? Do u need a nap?
Oct 22nd 2014
21
is your excuse really that your team is bad so lineups don't matter?
Oct 22nd 2014
22
If your team is better than mine, that is why u scored more
Oct 22nd 2014
23
*part* of the difference every year is lineups
Oct 22nd 2014
24
lol, why do I want Kobe to be a G again?
Oct 22nd 2014
25
because on average forwards score more points than guards in our league
Oct 22nd 2014
26
Yea he's my fourth guard, I don't know what to tell u
Oct 22nd 2014
27
right now he's your sixth guard and your first forward
Oct 22nd 2014
28
K thanks. I drafted him as a F. So ima use him that way for now.
Oct 22nd 2014
31
His points count the same either way, you know what right?
Oct 22nd 2014
33
                                              Furthermore
Oct 22nd 2014
34
if you drafted kobe as a forward, there were better forwards available.
Oct 22nd 2014
36
How do they not see that?
Oct 22nd 2014
38
lol. So Kobe is a .91 player based on his 6 games last year
Oct 22nd 2014
41
Yeah, dang is the right comparison
Oct 22nd 2014
46
                                                        What if I wanted Kobe?
Oct 22nd 2014
                                                        Oooooh, captain consistency
Oct 22nd 2014
53
Fine, the t jones or any of the other forwards taken after him
Oct 22nd 2014
56
So, this amounts to you not seeing Kobe return to 1.2
Oct 22nd 2014
64
                                                                       No and no
Oct 22nd 2014
68
So were there better forwards available or not?
Oct 22nd 2014
69
Yep, old guys returning from major injury do splendidly in ws!
Oct 22nd 2014

Yeah I would have picked him at my next pick as well even tho
Oct 22nd 2014
77
you would have picked him at 80 after drafting bosh and millsap
Oct 22nd 2014
78
even if that wasn't the situation I still woulda did it.
Oct 22nd 2014
81
U know I can play him at forward and still trade him as a G
Oct 23rd 2014
95
if kobe is a 1.2 player, then he should be above the crawfords
Oct 22nd 2014
51
Nah, Crawford will out point Anderson and Patterson
Oct 22nd 2014

Oct 22nd 2014
52
                     For now
Oct 22nd 2014

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

and before you say i was lucky, the two seasons before that the gap was bigger. *and* i purposely punted 10 points off my average last winter because i took a risk on getting russy back for the playoffs.

In response to Reply # 23

and lineups also betray how you think about scoring priorities in this league. the fact that you're fine with it...the fact that kobe being forward minutes is the "plan"...these are issues you need to address.

which is what i said when i ranked you, which started all this shit.

i guarantee if you thought about fixing it it would help your scoring and be better for the league's competitiveness, and it's really easy to do.

i really have no idea why y'all had to make me be a dick about it.

In response to Reply # 27

if you changed your lineups around he could be your fourth guard and your whatever forward and you'd use your minutes more efficiently.

the only way it wouldn't help your team is if you are already committed to having shitty forward points all season because there will be 1.1 and 1.2 forwards on waivers. maybe even some 1.3 forwards.

There's no x1.2 qualifier for lining up as a guard.

Why would I put my 5th pick above my 4th so that not only will I get zero from my 4th pick but about nothing from my 5th pick when u could get 100% of his points. I really am lost.

My Fs are weak, I not only know this, I don't really care. I'll pick one up it marc will become one. It's not that hard.

Yea Ceej, should have played it much safer with the headcase forward coming off a career worst season playing for a demanding coach brought in to change the culture. That was the much safer play.

and had a different type of injury? great comparison.

even without an injury, kobe's old enough and has enough minutes logged that he should be declining in production. add in injury and...yeah, i don't see him returning to his 'Antoni inflated 12-13 season after being sub 1.2 since 08.

i could be wrong. but personally, i'd rather have a younger, not-returning from injury player who put up similar numbers at the same position.

as a guard.

which is what we all thought we saw when he picked, but then i looked at his roster and his lineup.

ceej's gamble could pay off mightily for him if you stop trying to defend his misconceptions and he embraces the idea that he could have 4 great guards and pulls off trading one or two of them for better forwards.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Shit is too good to get lost in that clusterfuck.

TJT:

>the question is really who you expect to perform better, Anderson/Patterson or Derain and Crawfords. Robe thinks it's the forwards because it normally is. Ceej is arguing the opposite.<

Well, no. Thats not the question. The Crawfords are irrelevant. Patterson is irrelevant. Bringing them up at all severely damages your credibility to begin with.

>Bottom line, ceejs draft put him into a weird conundrum with his lineup.<

No, it actually gives him some pretty awesome flexibility. Any of his top 3 guards go down, he slides Kobe over and improves on the always easy to improve forward spot.

Rob:

>if ceej is arguing the opposite, he fucked up his draft and needs to make a trade for a real forward, in which case, he'd be back at the point where setting his lineup would matter.

the more i read this the more i think their argument really is "what? forwards are supposed to get 1.1 or more fppm?"<

I still cant make any sense of what the hell you are trying to say. TJ, I get. He couldnt be more wrong, but I get where said wrongness comes from. You seem to just be typing.

The bottom line is this.

NONE of Ceejs top 8 players are "wasted". Literally every single minute possible of the players he wants to use.....will be used. Perhaps I need to simplify. Let's use career average minutes to make it easy.

Lillard. 37 minutes. Every single minute used.
Kemba. 33 minutes. Every single minute used.
Deron. 33 minutes. 80% of minutes used.

Kobe. 38 minutes. Every single minute used.
Thad. 32 minutes. ESMU
Hickson. 22 minutes. ESMU
Ryan Anderson/Patterson. 4 minutes of who gives a shit.

Al Jefferson. 34 minutes. ESMU
Marc Gasol. A well documented wasted of half his minutes.

So, again. Until one of you can show me a scenario in which an important player of his is not used, that COULD BE, (eg not Deron or Gasol) I'm gonna ask that we go head and end this dumb shit and laugh at Shawns hilarious self proclaimed projections.

and are skating by on your waiver hawking.

this is a daily points league with head to head stats. bench players get significant minutes all the time. people have wasted minutes all the time.

here's a likely scenario. one night kobe plays 45 minutes of inefficient ball because he'd rather go 1 for 30 than 1 for 9 and the lakers don't know how to rest him unless he's dead. j.j. hickson has a quietly efficient 1.3 night but you only get half of his minutes.

here's another scenario. deron takes a week off because deron takes weeks off. you get 30 minutes of .90 ball from the crawfords. kobe does okay but he doesn't count as a guard because lineups don't matter and he's your sixth guard. kobe counts like a forward as he always does, and the forwards below him do okay but their minutes don't count. you've just lost points because your .9 crawford always has a higher priority than your 1.0 patterson and you don't understand that kobe is your fulcrum.

Good problem to have though. Injury protection, trade bait, lineup flexibility etc

additionally, that's assuming Deron returns to form AND Kobe returns to form AND Lillard makes a .ws improvement AND Kemba hasn't plateaued in this league.

every player is an important player on some night. the average team had a few hundred unused minutes last year.

It's a fucked up draft and only works like that if ceej's guards, excluding Kobe, put up more points than his forwards, excluding Kobe.

Point to a single team ever in which that has happened in this league. Then, point to that team not sucking. I'll wait.

If you're taking a forward in the fourth round, u should be getting a better forward than Kobe. If you're taking a guard in the fourth, Kobe isn't bad. The conundrum is that ceej overloaded, imo, on guards in the draft. So this is, kinda, an optimal lineup because his forwards suck. It's unique.

But, like u said, their points don't get multiplied. He's the one with too many guard points at his disposal, not us.

Nor do I see it a problem. Not many GF's out there and the flexibility they give you when injuries inevitably occur is a huge advantage.

yeah it would be a huge advantage if you set a lineup correctly, but this lineup actually turns it into a disadvantage.

Also I have Marc gasol, my forwards will get better don't worry.

25 minutes of Crawford vs 25 minutes of Patterson, based on last years mainly irrelevant stats, nets a 2 ppg difference.

You sold this as a major problem on a average night, when really it's a minor difference on an irregular night.

what made my conference less competitive? other than a_b always picking derrick rose early even if he's in a wheelchair, but a_b even tends to manage to overcome that.

what are those perennial "less competitive" teams doing that made it difficult for them to compete every year? i know i noticed.

luck is a thing, but we have fresh starts every year.

Methodology (yes I know my Tiers are backwards) not fixing em.
If you want to read em all at once with formatting, go here:
https://docs.google.com/a/krossover.com/document/d/1E0Ky7UNXjeArpM1GR5sta4pTbnKzebEkcpDrE4ASvH8/edit?usp=sharing

This was fun to do. I got 80% of it done while watching the Lakers game last night and had to edit some of the features this morning. Maybe its a product of drafting a new way. maybe its a product of drafting a team I feel is really good. Maybe its just that in year 10 I feel the get back to my innovative creative ways. I am the reason all of you guys exist in this league, am I not?

I think I wrote some good shit back in the day where I channeled Walton/Hubie/Etc.
Couldn’t get that creative this time. Though I came close to doing this interview and press conference style.

Enjoy. Have at it and be mad. I honestly think there is a lot of parity here and anyone outside of Magilla can win this. I think the lower tier guys can still win with some magical moves on the wire. So these rankings are for the draft and roster as drafted. i dont think I factored in FA pickups.

I included a Strength and Weakness in 1 word**Fuck it im not doin ths one anymore**

Team Lynchpin is the guy I think is the boom or bust on your team or the oen I think can send you over the top or make you mediocre. I feel like ina WS season the best teams have that one player who they speculated on and he showed out. The mediocre teams have the opposite happen.

The FPPM is not a projection but the MAX I think that player can achieve this season.
The up down arrows represent where they go from last season. Not that they are trending up or down

Future articles: (Just remind me)
*Best text messages from the draft
*Matty and Boogs trade redraft
*General League redraft
*Calling out the post draft predictions goen awry (AB youre always good at this)

Tier 1: No shot in hell
#16 Magilla
Look. I apologize in advance to the baby, but if you didn’t rank this team 16th you have no credibility and your rankings suck. This team is terrible. Some other guys can get away with drafting KD and waiting, Magilla can’t. Vucevic and Tyson are fine but no better than anyone else’s centers, the guards are gonna be terrible and might not even cover 96 minutes when all 5 play some night.
Strength: KD
Weakness: Holes
Lynchpin Player: If Magilla’s gonna prove me wrong its gonna be because Greivis plays like a lead guard he was drafted to do. That would take a Lowry injury and playing like he did 2 seasons ago.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Vucevic: 1.25 ↓: Will be a better NBA player but worse in .WS with orther Magic emerging.
Chandler: 1.12: ↓: Better than last season, but still eh
Melo: 1.20 ↓: Slower pace, more deliberate offense, more 3, less rebounds.
Vasquez: 1.09 ↑: Better than last season, but up and down as a bench player.

I've been terrible at this game. Awful. I'll admit it. I've made the playoffs, BARELY, once or twice. But I've never been the worst team out there. In the history of this league. Ever.

So don't ever doubt my talent to manage a roster. Because I have drafted some poor ones.

10. "Tier 2: the 3 Stooges AB, Beathustla, Cenario"
In response to Reply # 5

ier 2: Outside shot but not really
#15 Auragin
In recent years Auragin has turned into the old man of .ws he passes up on analytics and upside for the good players of years past/traditional stats with mixed results. This year’s boring team is going to be pretty average until he hits the wire. Rose’s best .ws seasons came in his MVP seasons where we was still just 1.28. At his best he’s a very good but not elite player. Demarcus is gonna carry him but Zach and Dwest will fall slightly. Lance is great in real life but in .ws? No thanks. Jimmy Butler, Ditto
Lynchpin Player: This team’s ultimate success rests on DRose. He’s one of the few players on the team with upside. If he gets back to MVP form and gets to 1.28 or gasp… 1.30 just him and Cousins alone will win games when other guys fill their roles.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Drose 1.23↑: Better than last season but not great.
Born Ready: 1.05 ↑: I dont see it, but I’m going max here. Maybe he has the ball a lot and doesnt play as many minutes - but 1.05 is the max.
Boogie 1.6 ↑: He matures and gets even better, but doesn’t block enough shots and turns it over too much to go into God Mode
Zbo 1.14↓: Slight decline for Zbo starts his ultimate decline in future years

Tier 2: Outside shot but not really
#14 Beathustla
Let’s be clear. There’s a huge gap between 16 and 15. Houston had a solid draft and has an outside shot, but he’s gonna have to make some moves on the wire. I like Kaman this year but not as a C1. LMA was a beast last year but I think he went a little high this year. I think his career high rebounds will drop this season. Either way the rest of the Fs leave a lot to be desired. I know how good Derozan is in rea life, but here? With this many good forwards no excuse for this mediocre a group. Ty Lawson could be a steal where he went if he stays healthy. Teague is solid, I dont quite know what to think of IT3 we should see early on.
Lynchpin Player: If Teague can keep his upward trend and end up more towards 1.15 next to Ty Lawson then his team is gonna be more trouble than I thought but still the Fs will be the killer.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Lamarcus Aldridge 1.34↓: Still a stud but a slight drop off from last season as rebounds drop. Regression to mean.
DeRozan 1.07 ↑: Nice uptick but ultimately his minutes are what keeps him from being a 1.1 G.
Rudy Gay .97↓: Back to his usual mediocre .ws self.
Ty Lawson: 1.19 ↓: Injury keeps him from replicating last year in fppg and gp
Teague: ↑ Continues upswing to 1.14

Tier 2: Outside shot but not really
#13 Smithers
Smithers another case of average Cs with limited upside. Gortat is frustrating to own because he’ll have big games but then he’ll kill you with bad games. Hawes is solid I wouldve rather had Kamania for an efficiency backup C with Bosh clear to cleanup. I’m not as high on Bosh as a lot of you are. He doesn’t rebound well enough and won’t again at this point in his career. Millsap was signifigantly worse last year with Horford so pray he gets hurt again. I think Ersan can actually help this F crew be respectable. Love Steph to be at 1.3+ again. If Monty plays Reke as much as he’s been doing, Jrue is gonna be back to some damaged goods. After that at G…
Lynchpin Player: For Cenario to be as good as he thinks he is, he will need Jrue to get back to 1.2+. I think it’s more realistic he ends up in 1.10s.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Gortat 1.13↓: Last year was his contract year, it won’t get much better than that.
Bosh 1.18↑: Somewhere between old Bosh and Big 3 Bosh. But not what Cenario wants or needs.
Millsap 1.24↑: Production falloff next to Horford.
Ersan 1.10↑: His reemergence helps Cenario a bit.
Steph: 1.33↓: He’s still great but ball movement offense spreads love a bit.
Jrue 1.18↓: Loses touches to Tyreke and boards to Omer.

11. "Tier 3: The 4 Horsemen: Boogs, Matty, Robe, Theo"
In response to Reply # 5

Tier 3: Starting to get warm
#12 Boogs
Boogs has been on his typical Eeyore, but the truth is his team isn’t that bad. I would’ve drafted differently at 10, 15, and 18 but Boogs went with 2 top guards and Joakim. Can’t be mad at the two guards but I don’t know about Jo this season. Pau is going to eat away at some of Jo’s numbers and i don’t know how healthy he is with reports from the summer. The good news is this maybe allows Jo to play less and stay more healthy. Boogs generally drafted safe and reliable which was the smart move given his drafting situation. I’d worry about the F situation. No reliable big time guys and no depth. Needs the coined “Smedium 3” to come up big.
Lynchpin Player: For Boogs to jump into the top half he needs Giannis to get his Ak47 on. Boogs is praying the Giannis at pg experiment is officially over.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Joakim 1.35↓: Down a bit from last year because of Pau
John Wall 1.33↑: Best season of his .WS Career as his game continues to mature.
Lowry 1.29↑: Someone said he had no upside. I dont believe that. I think DeRozan’s development helps him.
Giannis 1.10 ↑: Next year is his real big season.
Taj : 1.10 ↑: Gets back to form with less minutes and more efficiency.

Tier 3: Starting to get warm
#11 Matty
Matty drafted a real solid team. Fun fact: Matty and I were close to making the deal that Boogs and I made with his picks. Matty actually agreed to do the deal first, but Boogs had picks I liked more. Look for the future Shawnland article that breaks down how I would’ve drafted differently if I had Matty’s picks and Vice Versa. Anyhow Matty has a young beast in Drummond but I really worry about his F situation. Ibaka will regress with the emergence of Adams. I like Parsons to get better, but not elite because of minutes. Goran is frustrating because he will absolutely have huge nights. He will also have nights with lots of minutes and not so good output. Maybe IT3 changes that for the better. I like Trey Burke in .WS I dont think he’s a great real life pg, but he gets great usage in an offense where he’s the best ball handler by far.
Lynchpin Player: For Deyote to compete with the elite with this roster he needs Chandler Parsons to be closer to 1.10. I think he can do it because he will rebound better and have the ball a bit more in his hands for assists. That said, I think he ends up closer to 1.05.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Drummond 1.55↑: Can be an even bigger beast if he puts it together and his offensive game matures. His minutes will always be nicely limited because the frontcourt depth.
Ibaka 1.18↓: Serge, meet Steven. Steven takes boards (that is as long as Brooks starts him).
Parsons 1.10↑: See above
Dragic 1.15↑: Slight uptick but not enough for Matty.
Trey Burke: 1.10↑: Lots of time with the ball, lots of pick n roll action.

Tier 3: Starting to get Warm
#10 Robe
I don’t like this team as much now as I liked it during and post draft - but it’s dangerous. Dwight is going to have a BIG year and was undervalued this year. In a bad season last year he was still at 1.35. Best C’s so far. Love Faried in real life, but think his summer overvalued him in .ws. After faried the Fs dropoff significantly. I’m a big fan of Leuer in .WS but he will be up and down and you dont want that as a 2nd F. How long will Rajon be out? I think Stan will help Jennings a lot and Ramon is gonna be solid.
Lynchpin Player: Hmmmm is it Rondo or Jennings? Rondo if he plays needs to get to old form, if Robe doesnt really get Rondo he won’t be good. If Rondo plays he needs Jennings to step up as a 2nd Guard to push him to contend.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Dwight: 1.45↑: Another MVP like season pits him back on the map.
Faried: 1.30↑: Good but not good enough to carry Robe’s Fs
Tristan: 1.10↑: Nice uptick and more efficient with Cavs.
Rajon: 1.30↓: We’ll see how much he plays but hes never below 1.3
Jennings: 1.15↑: Stan, Those Bigs to throw lobs too, and a bigger commitment to passing.

↑↓
Tier 3: Starting to get warm
#9 Theo
Every year I rank Theo’s boring teams low. Every year he kicks my ass. I’m happy to get out of his division for the first time in 10 years. Omer is gonna have a nice year, and Hibbert is gonna have a minor bounceback. Love isnt going to be as big, but may be more efficient. Lee and Horford round out the best F group so far. G’s are boring and actually kind of sucky with no upside. 3 headed Mavs Gs, really?
Lynchpin Player: Horford needs to stay healthy. If not this team is a lot worse. and drops out of tier 3.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Omer: 1.25↑: Has a career year defending Anthony Davis but doesnt do enough with blocks and points to really be special.
Hibbert: 1.15↑: Back to somewhere between last season and the ones before.
Love: 1.43↓: Falls off but still an elite .WS guy
Horford 1.29↓: Coming back from injury things get spread out a bit in ATL.
Conley 1.10↓: Gatekeeper
Calderon 1.06↓: Triangle takes the ball out of his hands and assists drop

In response to Reply # 11

you can tell i'm still mad about it.

right now i'm hoping rondo gets healthy, get's traded, and i have extra guards to work with in trades. the other options are that moultrie blows up (possible) or zach randolph gets hurt/traded and leuer gets minutes. ed davis being in l.a. does help leuer a lot though.

but if all that fails i can work the waivers.

In response to Reply # 84

i think sessions has 50/50 odds to end up starting over collison at some point, and even if not, he should see solid minutes.

i think his numbers have suffered in recent seasons because he's been playing with kemba and the lakers instead of really at the point. being the best distributer on cuz's team is not a bad thing.

i probably should have taken another forward at jennings or sessions or mozgov's spots though.

Tier 4: Championship? Maybe
#8 Ceej
Ceej had a uncharacteristically good draft helped by the trade with Frank - though he missed on some guys in the middle rounds Big Al and Gasol will anchor his middle nicely. I wonder which of those Fs will step up for him. I really liked the Thad pick when it happened, but on second thought I think he ends up being better in real life than .WS. The guards are led by Lillard who I think continues to improve and I think he might’ve gotten one of the best values in the draft with Deron Williams where he did. In hindsight I wouldnt have drafted Deron or Wade, but I might actually want Deron on my team over Wade. If Kemba reproduces last year - he’ll be up there with the best guard units in the league.
Lynchpin Player: I was going to say Deron, but I’d actually feel more confident with Deron reproducing when healthy. I wonder if Lillard can get back to where he was or better in .WS. which wasnt great because of his minutes.
Lillard 1.12↑: Did his game mature after a summer with Team USA?
Kemba: 1.15↑: Slept on player whose consistently been above 1.10. Does lance hurt or help?
Marc Gasol 1.2↑: Slight uptick nothing spectacular.
Al Jefferson 1.44↑: He’s pretty healthy and I see a monster year for him.
Deron: 1.20↑:Even in most his bad years his around 1.10. He won’t be elite, but he’ll be good til he’s hurt.
Kobe 1.07↑: I think health wont be an issue and reduced minutes help. But will he pass the ball and get any assists?
↑↓

Tier 4: Championship Maybe
#7 Longo
Longo loves this team a lot but I think he did himself a disservice trading down for Rubio. According to Synergy a high% of Rubios assists last year went to Klove for jumpshots. Frank’s really only ranked this high because CP3 is THAT good. For some reason he keeps just trying to rebuild his championship team over and over again. This year he’s surrounded with terrible shooters, and granted he may get more assists in transitions I think we see a fall off. Larry Sanders could be a great pick if he can stay healthy (he’s already hurt again). I love the Draymond Green pick. In a contract year he does everything and plays limited minutes. That will really help Frank’s team on his good nights. I had to laugh when Frank pick Jordan Farmar and texted me that he couldnt believe Farmar was still on the board at that point. He’s not the passing pg that will pick up really well behind Paul in WS, conversely Andre Miller was a great pick and will eventually be Frank’s #3. This isn’t the juggernaut Frank team of 2 seasons ago, he’ll have some waiver wire work to do, and if CP3 goes down for 20 games again, watch out now.
Lynchpin Player: For Frank I think this is Larry Sanders. If he can get anywhere near 1.4 and 39 ppg from 2 years ago, thats 2 guys in 60 minutes that will give Frank around 100 with CP3 thats a hell of a boost.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Larry Sanders 1.27↑: Up from last year but not back to elite. Just a above average C who misses some games.
Henson 1.23↑: See Sanders, Larry.
CP3 1.55↓: Last year was insane. I see a “regression” to the meanif you can call it that. The Clippers will look to rest him more and he’s a year older.
Ricky Rubio 1.23↓: Explained above

↑↓
Tier 4: Championship Maybe
#6 Ryan:
Monster Front line that will have some huge games. Downright Scary. After those 3 I dont like the depth on the team. Jabari is going to be up and down in .ws. Parker is consistent but misses games and doesnt have a lot of upside. Monta was at his best last year and still eh. Don’t trust Payton yet. Funny I say this, but Amare could be the guy who actually brings the rest of the Fs back to life.
Lynchpin Player:
Elfrid Payton: If he can have a 1.1 type season Ryan instantly jumps into contender tier.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Deandre 1.38↑: DJ keeps getting better.
Bron 1.45↑: Not as many big games but consistently great and less minutes.
Monroe 1.25↑: Gets back to his 1.2 ways.
TP 1.07 -: It’s not going back up from here.
Monta .98↓: Regression to the mean Monta.

Tier 4: Championship Maybe
#5 TJT:
Anthony Davis, Anthony Davis, Anthony Davis. AD has the potential to set records in this league if he can stay healthy. 1.60 isnt out of the realm of possibility. I love the Dalembert pick. Always a value late. We’ll see what happens with Brook. Tjones is great but on that Houston squad will be up and down. A lot is riding on Hayward and Kawhi stepping up here if Bledsoe can just stay healthy now that he’s gotten paid.
Lynchpin Player: TJT drafted Kawhi projecting a 1.25+ projection. That isnt out of the realm of possibility seeing how he finished the season and the finals. Pop claims they will run plays for him - but we’ll see what happens in the Spurs System. Doesnt help that he’s missed a ton of preseason. If he’s 1.25+ TJT will have some big games
Max FPPM Key Players:
AD: 1.65↑: Primed for the greatest .WS season ever.
Brook: 1.15↓: I don’t think he makes it through another season.
Dalembert: 1.23↑: Plays well cleaning up Knicks messes on both ends.
TJones: 1.15↓: gets better in real life but production slips because Dwight is better.
Kawhi 1.26↑: Stage 1 into him becoming a full fledge star.
Bledsoe: 1.15↑: Slight uptick but doesnt do enough assists to be truly elite.
Hayward: 1.10↑: has a nice season and starts to show his playmaking more.
↑↓
Tier 3: Championship Maybe?
#4 Basa
Another team I didnt like at first during the draft until further review. The injury prone stud centers wont be bad if theyre out on an alternating basis. When theyre together they'll be nice-though wasted minutes abound. I have a gut feeling Varejao wont miss a whole lot of games this year. Blake and Pau will hold down the F position with Jordan Hill as the perfect big cleanup man. This might be the deepest Front line so far. But wait -- whose starting at Guard? Darren Collison and Brandon Knight? Doh! There will be some nice games from this team when the guards play well. I actually like Collison a lot. IT3 was overrated in Sac. He had the ball a lot and a high usage. Collison will have the ball a lot also He isnt the scorer IT3 was, but a better and more willing passer. He will be fine. I dont expect Nash to play more than 41 games and that might be generous. Brandon Knight is a mediocre WS player. He just doesnt pass the ball well enough to be good here and now jabari will eat into his ppg.
Lynchpin Player: I think Darren Collison is the x-factor here. If he can get into 1.07-1.1 territory (completely possible in Sac offense) this team will contend.
B Klay Thompson: He’s been on absolute fire in preseason but he plays so many minutes and in the past hasnt done enough other stuff. In the preseason he’s had a couple 5 assists games with kerr’s ball movement. Overall as hot as he’s been he’s still right around 1.0 (still a .21 jump from last season)
Max FPPM Key Players:
Bogut : 1.32↓: Goes down a bit but plays more games.
Andy: 1.35↑: Has the potential to have a big year again with Bron back.
Blake: 1.46↑: Primed for an MVP type season. Needs to get back to early career rebounding to really make it happen but his coring is going to go up.
Pau 1.351↓: Him and Noah will “neutralize” each other abit if you can call it that.
Collison: 1.08↑: System pg but may only play about 26 mpg

Tier 4: Out the box contenders
#3 RBO
You know, I didnt like this team when it was being drafted- I even clowned RBO for it Then I looked at it post draft and was pretty impressed. I had it as high as #2 before settling it at 3. A lot to like with the old guard Timmy and KG manning the FC along with some reliable guards with some upside. one of the things RBO did was draft good flexibility to cover for injuries and time off. If the old guys miss games that will hurt but he’ll still be in the picture come playoff time once RBO learns to set lineups.
Lynchpin Player: Most of RBO’s guys will do what they do but he needs a repeat of last season from Tyreke Evans which is a bit scary. If Tyreke can put together a smilar season, RBO will be there at the finish.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Harden 1.33↑: Didnt quite get what I predicted last season because of a slow start, but after the all star break he was an absolute monster.
Manu 1.20-: Manu do what he do do.
Duncan: 1.45↓ Timmy too - oo.
Tyreke: 1.15↓: Bad in real life not bad in .ws
KG 1.25↑: What a pick that late. I had him on my radar since pick 70 but didnt have the posistion for him. He’ll have a mini bounceback but miss some games.

↑↓
Tier 4: Out the box contenders
#2 Ernie
Ernie doesnt take Paul George in the first round and has a nice draft. Dieng and Noel have phenomenal upside at C, and Derrick Favors can cover anytime Noel is out, while he goes into Beast mode this season. last year I had to settle on favors and was unhappy. This year I got screwed out of getting him. he was absolutely my pick there (We’ll do another feature on how my draft would’ve been different had I gotten Favors there). Lots of really good FPPM guys at F and Russy at G. I don’t really trust Wade. I think Ernie picks someone like Kemba, Dragic, or Bledsoe there and the team is even more scary. I like Oladipo but i dont think this is his breakout .ws season quite yet.
Lynchpin Player: DWADE. If he can perform and have a nice bounceback while also not missing a lot of games, Ernie is a 1-2 favorite.
Max FPPM Key Players:
Dieng 1.35↑: Moves up and has some HUGE games but somewhat disappoints with expectations of 1.4+.
Noel: 1.25↑: Has some huge games but again misses time to injury and some duds. A guy to own next season.
Favors1.38↑: He starts moving int real beast mode territory and has a career year everyones been wiating on.
Wessy 1.5-: Huge Year but not much of an improvement in WS due to more minutes and more turnovers.
Wade: 1.20↑: He will have some great games, but sometimes just be alright and have a lot of turnovers trying to do too much on bad wheels.
Oladipo 1.03↑: Moves above 1.0 but not huge. Some good/great games (more than last season) mixed with duds. Playing with ball less leads to less assists but allows him to roam for more rebounds and get less Tos.

↑↓
Tier 4: Out the box contenders
#1 Shawn
Made a risky trade that has seemingly paid off. Was finished drafting by pick 160 something and was able to get a lot of guys who are solid and mix them with guys who have upside. For the first time didnt draft a rookie, and hasnt made a FA move yet. This team has enough depth to absorb some injuries, and is loaded with guys who will score consistently.
Lynchpin Player: Josh Smith was drafted at a value considering past draft positions, but considering last year’s performance he was overvalued. If SVG can really play him at 4 and keep him near the bucket there is no reason he cant return at least partially to form while playing a solid but not high load of minutes.
**Since its my team ill do max FPPM for every one**
Max FPPM Key Players:
Sully 1.35↑: Ive argued with realrap about him vs Tjones. In real life i still dont know but in WS the way Boston will run their offense through him he has big time potential as long as he doesnt get hurt or more fat. Rondo's return and statpadding could also hurt him.
Gobert 1.3↑: Follows up great summer with a nice season and emerges as a great clean up C in WS with limited minutes.
Adams: 1.2↑: I really like what this kid does in real life. Rob doesnt think it translates in WS, I think it does to some degree. he’s gonna board and block shots while also scoring. Like Wessy says “he can catch.” I think he starts to emerge as a star in the NBA we’ll see in .WS
Dirk 1.18↓: Goes down a bit but not much. Dirk does what he does and plays less minutes with Parsons around.
Tobias: 1.15↑: He’s had a great summer and offseason. This year he establishes himself as the star of the Magic’s young core and someone they can possibly build around.
Josh Smith: 1.2↑: Midrange Shawty gets closer to the basket after being forced by Ron Van Jeremy. Gets better, but not old elite self (unless traded).
MKG: 1.05↑: Lots of up and down games but does a better job with boards, steals and blocks and has some real nice games mixed in with duds.
Kyrie: 1.27↑: Doesn’t get enough assists to be 1.3 but becomes an efficient guard in WS next to Bron and Love.
MCW 1.18↓: When he plays he has some big games and some average ones but isnt quite able to replicate last season. Still a solid G when he plays.
Reggie Jack 1.07↑: Playing for that contract without KD, gets some starts and shows his flashes once he recovers from wrist injury.
Jlin7 9.93932923↑: Jlin becomes best basketball player and destroys the galaxy.
Jeremy Lin 1.15↑: Jeremy gets the ball back in his hands and does what he does best. Still some turnover issues but overall markedly improved.
George Hill: 1.07↑: I know, I know how the fuck is a guy whose never been over 1.0 gonna get to 1.07? Did he magically get better? No. With PG out he’s gonna get a lot more usage and have the ball a ton. So far in preseason (I know its preseason) he’s been well above 1.0 every game I believe. He picks up the slack on the boards, gets more assists and doesnt turn the ball over a lot. Just a perfect storm. Was really excited about drafting him late til he banged his knee last night.

From a guy who did 1.27 WITH Bron 2 years ago. 22, 5 and 5 would be SHOCKING? Ok.

Also, Wade has played in 9 less games than Chris Paul, number one pick, the last 2 years.

There are at least 3 real glaring lineup mistakes by vets and/or Champs lol.

Ceej's lineup 'issue' is more a strategy decision and not close to the category as the others.

i noticed cause i've been seeing inefficient use of minutes for years. sorry for paying attention to my division, like i said i did in the "why do we have divisions?" post. because i do notice tendencies and it does affect some people's divisional match ups and W-L.

it's also why i have no idea if some other people in other divisions fucked this shit up to, but apparently they do.

which it seems like your issue stems from.

I'm just talking about setting his lineup with the players he has. I've seen other managers use GF as F as well. I believe boogs did it one year with iggy back when iggy was good lol (sad that i remember this) because he had strong guards. Is it ideal? probably not. Doesn't mean its a mistake in setting your lineup tho.

There are also ways to maximize your lineup for the potential of higher scores but also leaving yourself less wiggle room for injuries and opens yourself up to wasted minutes. I've done it before and looked great for 2 games but then had an injury and got screwed for 4 games. I'd consider that a strategy mistake, not a "lineup error"

So i can see why someone would do Ceej's lineup differently, but I don't consider it a mistake per se, i guess.

the only thing close to a defense y'all have for your wrong lineup is what ernie was saying about it not being *that* maybe points. it's probably why most people think it's a ridiculous argument and are wishing we'd shut the fuck up. but it's still points you're leaving.

i what cenario is talking about with injuries is possible if you do something like G1, G2, GF, G4, G5, C, C, F, F, CF, F but is not possible if you do C C CF F F F F FG G G G. there are reasons why you would tweak it like he's talking about to min-max, and i can respect that, but that is a difference in philosophy. i'm not talking about that.

i'm talking about your plan being to prioritize inefficient players over better players for no reason.

"ranking based off lineup" means what it said...you'd have been 10 or 11 instead of 12 in mine if you fixed it, because if you leave it it will cost you some games. your lack of talent does not mean your lineup couldn't be improved.

Love:

Chris Bosh (26)

1.35 B.B (before Bron). A lot of numbers leaving Miami, I think Bosh benefits most. 4 points and 1 board alone get him above 1.2. I'd expect even more.

Greg Monroe (33).

Was debating Monroe and Favors, Monroe going there made my decision easy. New coach and a contract year make him a prime bounce back candidate.

Jared Sullinger (52)

I actually had him closer to the Favors/Monroe tier. Perfect for this format. Breakout coming. No reason for him to behind old and declining guys like West and Big Zach.

Kobe Bryant (61)

Whether he lines up at G, F, GF, or GFC, this is great value here. If he didnt play at all last year as opposed to having 6 shitty games, he'd have went 15 picks earlier.

Terrance Jones (77)

How does an improving 1.17 F go AFTER guys like Luol Deng and Tobias Harris?

Mason Plumlee (90)

Went one pick after brother Miles, but I think Mason separates himself this year. Great opportunity in Brooklyn. Multi position to boot.

Tiago Splitter (113)

Quietly VERY consistent in this and will obviously have room for improvement on the always aging Spurs. Another multi. Seems like there's way to many of those this year.

Hate:

Lamarcus Aldridge (6)

An early "wow" moment of the draft for me. An obvious beast, but it took 8 years to get to 1.4 after never hitting 1.25. Is there a way to IMPROVE on a ridiculously efficient 23 and 11? Meanwhile career beasts Drummond and Cuz were right there. Perhaps multi position was a factor, but this early, I'm going best player.

Carmelo Anthony (20)

Fresh off last years "Love" list, Carmelo has gone from underrated to over and back again. A career year got him to 1.24 last year. And as F only, you can do better at pick 20.

Kyrie Irving (23)

I guess I just dont get it. Keys to the kingdom have resulted in three 1.16ish years. Bringing in two of fantasys biggest stat stuffers is supposed to improve that? I dont see it. Would rather have Lawson.

Baby Zeke (46)

Busted out last year to 1.1, but is in an entirely different situation as a third guard. The PPM may remain, but he'll be nowhere near last years 35 minutes.

Lance Stephenson (71)

Born Ready was a actually in a pretty ideal fantasy situation last year and it resulted in a .99. Joining Big Al and Kemba, I dont see that getting better.

Luol Deng (74)

Replacing Lebron doesnt give you some of his powers. He's a career .9 guy. I wouldnt have drafted before the 11th round, if that.

Jordan Farmar (94)

This isnt fantasy football. Handcuffs arent necessary. Better players are. An upside pick like Payton made more sense there. Farmar was never really good in this until last year, when every single Laker point guard was systematically balling at some point.

Whose had a bad ankle that didnt heal after a summer off and now probably pulled his hammy compensating for a bad ankle?

Sure Kyries been handed the keys before but no team was like this one. Lets we forget that before Ty's breakout last season he had never even been at Kyrie's 1.16 "mediocrity" before in his career.

Terrance Jones Ill give you to some extent. I love him as a player, but I think hes gonna drop a bit because Dwights going to have a monster year and DMO will eat at some of his minutes.

At that point in the draft I was done. Id rather gamble on some fun upside. Tobias has "star on a bad team" potential. Hes the best scorer on a bad team, he'll get shots, he rebounds at a good rate he came into camp in shape and is on a contract year.

Taking Tobias over Tjones wont make or break me.

For the Rockets sake Ill happily eat crow here

but at that point in the draft after rubio, to me it was either Kyrie or Lawson - nobody else.

And there's a clear reason I didnt choose Lawson.

You pointed out history to somebody else re: LMA.
Same thing with Lawson.

agreed that he'll benefit the most.

almost took him at 43, but thought he or Hill would make it to 54 one of the few times where i had a tier of players that all went between my picks that i didn't expect. in hindsight, mighta let RBO have bledsoe, and would have picked exactly who shawn did (dirk and sully).

>Kobe Bryant (61)
we haven't discussed this enough yet. you are overrating how his 6 games last year affect people's opinions on him, imo.

^sees it. DMo might take some minutes, but Jones is a stat stuffer, even if Dwight grabs a whole bunch more boards.

thought he went too high, but, to be fair, he's pretty much a lock for 30 minutes in phoenix.

He wont be near what Bledsoe and Dragic did last year .ws wise.

Hes not as natural a passer.

He avgd 6 in Sac but again, his usage was high and he always had the ball--which is a big reason he still isnt in Sac.

I've watched Elfrid Payton play a lot last year, probably more than any sane human should. He was turnover prone last year. In the Sun Belt.

He'll be a stat stuffer, no question, and I fucking love his game (TRBO hates that I call him Rondo Jr.). But I think his turnovers against NBA competition his first year combined with the usual rookie PG inconsistency make his odds at doing below 1 FPPM pretty high.

I hope I'm wrong as I'd love for him to ball out Year 1, and I would've taken him later (probably even thirteen picks later), but that's why I didn't grab him at 94. I wanted something I thought was safer. I felt like Farmar's odds at 1 FPPM were better, and I felt like his odds of doing what he did last year if Paul were to go out were better. *shrug* it wasn't solely for handcuffing, that's just a perk. I just felt he was the safest FPPM G left-- the only other guy I considered there was Reggie Jackson, and admittedly I may regret taking Farmar over him. (My history of my third guard drafted isn't great.)

It may not pay off, but with Bubbles doing his steady 15 minutes at over 1 FPPM, I really only need fifteen-ish minutes of guard play from someone. I'm confident I can find that one way or another if Farmar doesn't pan out, via a low-minute/high-FPPM guy on waivers or one of my younger bench guys (preferably the latter-- they're my upside picks, and my last round picks generally do way better than my third guard picks, so I'm hopeful).

I wouldv etaken Reggie Jack over Farmar

We need those type of guys.

I couldn't fathom him WINNING anything (not a division, conf or title) and it being good for us. lol

Let him play his role, off-beat, dry-humor, pseudo angry, Michigan dude who's not very good at this but can live vicariously through his fam Ern.

Leave it be Champ.

In response to Reply # 0

Just for free, for shits and giggles. I've been curious about WS in dynasty format-- AB, Shawn and I joined one last year but it was too goddamn confusing with too many rules (salary caps, etc).

This one would be simple: Survivor style scoring. Keep who you draft until you don't want them any more. Want to draft people next year? Drop people from your roster to make room.

Would anyone be interested in this? Because it'd be just for fun instead of for money, I'd imagine we could draft with a shorter time limit and get it done quickly.

We could also use this as a way to experiment with a new draft style-- either the 1-day draft, or the "personal timer" option the site offers, in which each person is given a certain amount of time, and once you cross that limit... you better have contingencies set. Either way, whatever may interest people.

The name of the league: Survivor Dynasty
The password: OKPSurvivor

I've invited people who have told me they are interested. Anyone else who is presently a member of Survivor is welcome to join as well.

We also should figure out a draft time, assuming everyone would like to run through it quickly.

This is solely regarding injury reports that use the word "indefinitely" or "indefinite" without any additional time table?

Or is it regarding any injury without an immediate time table, period?

we just agreed to the penalty. Plus nobody said you had to rush to pay. Just that there's a penalty (no IR) if you don't before the deadline. As far as getting your payout late, it wasn't anybody but ME (was almost a week after the season ended). So my bad, I'll do better this year. *Shoulder shrug*

Is there a rule you don't find stupid though? That's all you do now it seems; call rules stupid, cheerlead and brag about division titles (lol). You need a new character fam. It's getting stale.

which was people couldn't play at all if they ain't pay by deadline. and then you took hardline stances on other rules. all i did was ask that you go as hard on people paying on time as you went on other rules.

In response to Reply # 240

which was always part of the rule. Then you was like, "I've had special circumstances but I still made the deadline so there should be a penalty". We agreed. It was usually 2-3 guys tops that needed an extra week or two (a few guys had tough situations and needed a lil longer). But that still doesn't stop late pay, there's just a penalty to it.

>which was people couldn't play at all if they ain't pay by
>deadline. and then you took hardline stances on other rules.
>all i did was ask that you go as hard on people paying on time
>as you went on other rules.

The way we play the game (stuff I was hardline on) vs real life stuff was the conflict. Like in Franks case regarding the $100 fee. How I'm supposed tell him to sell his pets, sacrifice a bill or donate blood to come up with the cash if he can't swing it right today? I didn't feel right trying to force a dude to pay on time if he legit was struggling a bit IRL. So long as they made arrangements to pay (gave me a timeline) I was cool with it.

I remember ernie asking if we'd do bakers dozen and
AB replied "im leaning towards straight"

Leaning to me doesnt denote a decision - but couldve missed the official reply.

Either way why arent we voting on it? And just asking AB?

Let's make these official.

Indefinite injury status is now IR-able based on 6-2 league vote for yay. Still will be 4 week hold like any other IR and legit sources are still in play.

Let's make official. We are staying away from the preseason baker's dozen. If you want a new guy, you must drop someone. Next season this might be less of an issue since the draft will be the weekend before the reg season starts but for now, let's show some class lol.

Thanks!

I think we should be allowed to do it next season though. Its similar to having guys on your roster before opening day and getting your roster down to 15 in the NBA.

Where do I go to drop. I moved my player down in the lineup screen and saved, that doesnt do it. And under Free Agents I dont see a drop option

under free agents, click on "view your lineup and drop player" then click the drop button. but be careful--there's no confirmation screen, it just drops the player.
