I hate watching sports with other people.
Even good friends.
In person is kinda nice (with good seats) and big moments but I cant see all the other games im probably invested in.
Bars i feel like i actually get anxiety about. Way too much noise, cant hear the game i wanna see, then gotta listen to a million sports girls and guys wax off about shit they heard on ESPN.
No thanks
Give me my own tv with access to internet on my lap and im in heaven

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Not sure if I read it on here or on my timeline, but someone couldn't understand how you could tweet and watch a game. If you're doing that, I believe you're using Twitter wrong. The best part about sports and a live feed on Twitter is watching the updates. The instant reactions, in game reports from analysts, instant gif/memes. All of that happens in real time, and it's a great compliment to the game. I actually would love a twitter feed on my screen if it wasn't obtrusive to the game.
Again, it only works if the feed updates itself and you can see tweets in real time. Not sure if the Twitter web page or any other program outside of TweetDeck does that. Either way it's great for sports.

For the most part, no one knows shit about most of the teams anyway (or sport, in case of WC in America), and that one is significantly enhanced being around a ton of people.
Also, Super Bowl (unless your team is in it) and big boxing matches are perfect house party events.
Everything else, I generally watch at home alone. I have a few friends that I actually enjoy watching and talking sports with, but they're sort of spread out so it doesn't happen all that often. NFL and MLB (if I watch baseball at all) are background noise, CFB and NBA I watch more intently.
I do try to make it to a couple Dodgers/Clippers/Lakers games a year, still great live events and I don't worry too much about missing other games during the regular season. The one that kills me is going to UCLA football games, I love the tailgating and atmosphere, but I hate missing all the other college games happening at the same time and it's hard to actually see what's going on the field. I do make it out at least once a year though.

Hockey and basketball are what I follow really closely and both are best live. Hockey there is absolutely no substitute for the sights, sound and feel of live action. Same is true of basketball although I feel like you need decent seats. I'd rather watch hoops at home on TV if I am going to have shitty seats; for hockey I will sit anywhere just about.

thats where my season tickets were. My ticket rep got me some seats on the glass for a game when I bought my package, those were cool especially seeing guys get slammed right in front of you, but sitting up top in the closest row to the ice were like perfect seats for me.....

you mentioned the tradeoff of proximity for some obstruction and some stadiums have iffy corner seats here and there, but overall behind the goals, anywhere in the neutral zone and, in some places, every seat is pretty good.
i like to sit up in the bottom deck or low in the second or third deck anywhere in the neutral zone. most press boxes are high (above the top deck) and stretch between the opposing faceoff dots (neutral zone and top half of the offensive zone). i never have trouble seeing the broader action, and the bang-bang stuff you often need a monitor for even if you are in the first row.
