I renewed the league from last year (with Ceej's help). I don't know what the current situation is with the current players, but invites have been sent to last year's members.

If you want to be the commish, and you're someone who is supposed to be in JV, that's totally cool. But... just an FYI, invites have been sent out already to the guys from last year's league. And a few have already accepted.

This may just need its own post.

bleekgilliam finished 2nd place by losing the championship game. I believe that entitles him to move up. The regular season champ was EclecticTastes. So I'm pretty sure he should move up. John Forte finished 3rd in the playoffs, so as I understand it he stays in frosh because its 1st & 2nd in the playoffs and reg season champ.

Idk how bleekgilliam takes over commish duties without someone transferring it to him, so if you are commish of this league, as commish of frosh last year I just wanted to brief you on how things went down.

Champion and 1&2 in regular season standings get promoted. I was 2nd in regular season standings. I skipped JV and went straight to Varsity, tho.

I got relegated so I will ignore the invite I got (MS Maulers)

ill still be commish of the league that you set up if need be, but if we have a commish i'm fine with them staying the commish. 2 ppl sent me request for the league i set up though, so if there are slots open then someone needs to send the request out to everyone besides the ppl that were in the league last year.

As far as I recall, the regular season champ moves up. It's supposed to go by end of the season record.

This is circular reasoning and could go on all day. Bottom line is that the top 3 teams with the best records move on. This was how it was explained to me a few years back when I was relegated from JV. I won the consolation game to finish 7th or 8th and avoid relegation. But, my final record had me at 10th or 11th. I was relegated because of the final record.

Let's let it all be playoffs. Look, I'm just reiterating the rules as they were applied against me. The teams that finish with the best records are supposed to move on.

and therefore serves an important purpose... unlike playoffs under your system which are 100% useless and pointless

anyway i haven't been playing long so i don't know how it's been done, but a relegation system where the actual WINNER of the league possibly doesn't move up doesn't make a lot of sense to me

That's just how it was explained to me a few seasons back and, obviously, the expectation was that the team with the best record would win the championship or seconds. But that's not how it worked at the bottom of the league. If you won the 5th or 6th consolation spot but had the 10th worst record, you got relegated.

Second, if you look at most of the posts about these relegation leagues, the determining factor is the best records move up and the worst move down. You won the championship game? Great! You did it with the 4th best record in the league in the final standings? Too bad.

Not my rules. I didn't make them. But, I'm not gonna be screwed by them twice.

But that's the way it has been handled before. I made the exact same argument and was told that I had been relegated due to the way the final standings turned out. Playoffs and consolation didn't matter.

For the league to construe the rules otherwise would be hypocritical.

by the way he disclaims any ownership in the relegation system he's promoting

sucks that he got screwed last time, but two wrongs don't make a right here IMO. the "too bad" in this situation is much more reasonably applied to the 1 seed who got the best matchup and still lost in the first round or in a consolation game.

but like i said if that's how it's been done and he can prove it...

I'm not promoting the rules. I thought they didn't make sense then. Still don't. If you read what I wrote, you would see that we actually agree.

I've searched the boards for the posts about the season I'm referring to but can't find them. Also, I don't have access to the JV page so I can't refer to the exact season.

But, as I recall, league champ moves on. Then it goes by final standings.

I thought it was top 2 regular season finishers + playoff champ that move up.

If that is only 2 teams, the 3rd place regular season finisher goes as well.

It's not easy to manage your roster to sustain the league's best record over the course of an entire season. That kind of performance week in and week out should warrant promotion.

One thing is for sure going forward, each league should be clear in it's rules on promotion and relegation.
