"7/26: HBO Boxing - GGG vs. Geale/Jennings vs Perez "

GGG....duh. although Geale is supposedly game. idk shit about him.

this will be in the main room at MSG. trying to make it GGG's home base. promoters anticipated 9k tickets sold. as of yesterday it was about 5k. i recvd an email from ticketmaster last week for 25% off tix. guess that should have been a good indicator of slow sales.

idk much about Jennings and Perez either. although i don't believe Perez looked that great in his last outing from what i remember about that fight.

Jennings UD.

Weights From NYC: Golovkin 159.8 Lb., Geale 159.2 Lb.
Posted by: Jake Donovan on 7/25/2014 .

By Jake Donovan

Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Geale are set for their anticipated middleweight clash Saturday evening at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The bout airs live on HBO.

Golovkin (29-0, 26KOs) came in at 159.8 lb. for the 11th defense of his middeweight title. Geale (30-2, 16KOs), a former middleweight titlist, was slightly lighter at 159.2 lb.

In the televised co-feature, unbeaten heavyweights Bryant Jennings and Mike Perez collide in a bout to determine who will go on to face the winner of the forthcoming heavyweight title fight between tilist Bermane Stiverne and undefeated mandatory challenger Deontay Wilder.

Perez (20-0-1, 12KOs) weighed 242.2 lb., his heaviest weight in nearly three years. Jennings (18-0, 10KOs) came in at a chiseled 222.6 lb., his lightest weight since weighing 219.5 lb. for a 9th round stoppage of former heavyweight champ Siarhei Liakhovich more than two years ago.

The bout marks Jennings' second straight HBO appearance against an unbeaten heavyweight. Perez will fight on HBO for the third consecutive time.

i hope he does. ggg is a monster. although he hasn't been in with an elite yet. i don't have any doubt about ggg's power and stamina. don't know about his ring IQ yet.

ggg may in fact get the best of cotto if they were to fight. but the majority of fans, analysts, etc said that martinez at 70% would beat the shit out of cotto (partially bcuz cotto was "done").

i think cotto 2.0 can hang with ggg. maybe if he fights and beats canelo at 154 in may, he can defend the middleweight title next fall vs ggg.

Had it 7-5. But I might have been skewed because I hate that leaning/holding shit and probably gave Jennings a couple of close round as a result. And I thought Perez lost to Takam anyway. But the gripe with the ref was legit. A draw would have been perfectly fair.

That's how I saw it. That's pretty much forfeiting the round, imo. Jennings came on later in the fight right as Perez got tired. Dude beat himself.

But it was a bad deduction. Perez actually got away with a lot anyways.

Because they are generally great. But when they collectively fall in love with the fighter, they get so damn biased, including in their silences at convenient times.

Is Cotto willing to fight him? If he is its probably a good fight but a L. Quillen might fight him but it's a L.

Ward would be an incredible fight and could go either way.

I think GGG moves up but not this year

for one his jab is constant...he's landing it...... and he's following all of his offense from it.... when you have a jab like that....you can keep your opponent off of you...you keep him at the range of power punches..

that ko was devastating...he took one to the face but because he's always in a position to square up on you when the exchanges come...he drops dude..

gonna be a challenge to get this guy...

and the thing is, along with that power, he's not some Juan Urango kinda brute--he's got a great jab, balance, and footwork

and Rosado was giving him problems, I (along with half the puerto ricans of North Philly that where in the house) felt Rosado was played and was def at least close to a tie at the time of the stoppage

i love Rosado but he isn't even close to being in GGG's class
and if Peter is legit he can't be in close fights with Rosado.

totally random our seats where actually next to peter quillin's inlaws
it was pretty cool. it was the undercard of Hopkins/murat

i would love to see GGG vs Ward or Froch I'm just not sure he is big enough
wouldn't be mad at a kid chocolate matchup tho

don't know how i would feel with a cotto match though

MW is starting to get back exciting again

and would probably result in early devastation...but I'd watch Golovkin-Lemieux. Lemieux's the only guy that at least has the power to match Golovkin. If he continues to get back on track after those early setbacks and get his mojo back, I'd be on board for Golovkin-Lemieux in 2015.

If Soliman is next, that's okay...It'll be Proksa all over again, but I like Soliman so I don't mind him at least getting a shot to use that herky jerky shit on Golovkin before he gets splattered.

destroying Cotto coming off that Sergio Matinez win would instantly put him at the top. After that it's gonna be pretty hard to duck him.

And I wouldn't be surprised if Cotto fights his ass next either. They both got free schedules.

Or wait, there might be two sets of in-laws since I think there was a divorce in there somewhere.

Anyway, I grew up in same suburban Philly South Jersey town as his wife Allie and his brother-in-law Jordan who graduated with my sister, actually met Peter Quillin last year in LA thru his wife the weekend they got engaged while I was out at a show with one of her best girlfriends from home.

Think by now they're already married with a baby even tho that was only like March of last year when they had just gotten engaged.

Quillin in the hour or so I was hanging by the bar with him (he of course wasn't drinking) came off like a really good dude, he seemed a little shocked I knew who he was (we were at a Charles Wright & Watts 103rd Street Bamd show at The Mint on Pico in West LA so I guess it wasn't a real boxing head spot).

But got into talking about him making Barclay's his home base and whatnot.

I'd go to see him fight GGG if that fight happened in LV or BK but honestly I'd be worried about the outcome for Kid Chocolate for all the reasons you just mentioned above.

GGG is a problem.

Chavez Jr. too

Maybe he'd be willing to move up in weight to fight Ward?
