Yep, if you miss your 1 hour time slot you're automatically skipped.
People know they're pick is going to be at that same time every day so they can either make sure they're online during that time or have someone else pick for them.

ok i like that time slot idea -- i will probably pick a late night time slot of yall are ok with that. but like i mentioned if we all just communicate it'll be much more streamlined.
We are starting TOMORROW MORNING August 5th. The first games are August 28th so we have plenty of time to bang this out.
The draft will run from 9am to 6pm CST. Everyone will have 1 hour to make a pick. If you don't make your pick in that hour you're automatically skipped. It will go like this:
pick 1 - 9:00
pick 2 - 10:00
pick 3 - 11:00
pick 4 - 12:00
pick 5 - 1:00
pick 6 - 2:00
pick 7 - 3:00
pick 8 - 4:00
pick 9 - 5:00
pick 10 - 6:00
Snake draft so obviously it will reverse each round so the next day the the person picking at 6pm has the pick at 9 the next morning but you don't have to wait, go head and make both your picks together.
If the person ahead of you has picked and you're ready you don't have to wait the full hour go ahead and pick.
Everyone can figure out way in advance when they are picking and plan accordingly. If you know you're not going to be available at your slotted time you can try to work something out with somebody in the league to pick for you.
