how you the draft doesn't end up being the best shape you've ever been in your life. I know dude been a lotto pick since prolly 12 or whatever, but it still seems like all you have to do in that one year in college is get in shape, come into the league at peak form. Let the grind do its number on you after that. But yeah ... all he has to do is ball in the league and no one will ever remember ...

for all the Wiggins and Parker headlines, Giannis might well deserve equal billing.

They seem to be experimenting with Giannis as a point forward. He's crossing halfcourt with the ball a lot and initiating the offense. Pretty interesting they seem to have that much belief and insistence on his handle already.

Giannis biggest strength is being that tall, that long and able to handle the ball. He's a mismatch for anyone, yet they stashed him in a corner to run plays for Caron and Gary Neal down 20 every night while 30 games under .500.

Drew was coaching for wins when he should have been coaching for development of young guys

But Parker and Wiggins showed they can be stars in this league too. Not sure why Giannis being a ridiculous talent is being used to knock Parker and Wiggins down a peg.

Parker has the best offensive skill set of the three right today. Wiggins will most likely be the best in transition and playing off the ball and Giannis has the highest ceiling. He still needs more in game experience handling the ball along the perimeter and getting used to his size. He almost buckled his own knee tryna cross Bennett up.

The biggest thing will be if he can play so defense. He obviously isn't the same type of freak that Green is, but he could learn to knock down the three and be the stopper off the bench (at least for 1's)

he was getting that stop and pop shot off with like 5 feet of room, lol
he was taking a lot of dumb shots like fast break 3s and shit like that
he was clearly off in that game with all the bricks and dumb turnovers
but the fact he could get that shot off at will was kind of scary
he already has a rick mahorn body right now basically so he can already bang in the paint for boards and shit like that

I don't think the Greek Freak will be able to play the 3
unless he turns into a Durant like player which the Bucks
seem to be experimenting with at least a little bit in summer league.

Front court if want to maximize minutes between
Giannis
Parker
Sanders / Henson

Might need to be 3. Giannis, 4. Parker, 5. Sanders
because 3. Parker, 4. Giannis, 5. Sanders

has Parker guarding Lebron, Melo, Paul George, etc.

I don't think he's got the speed to guard them on the wing.
Though I think like you said because of his body type,
could guard those guys in the post.

Milwaukee will be an interesting team to watch w/ Kidd coaching.

Those rumors of him wanting to possibly trade Lopez for Sanders
and some other pieces, as well as how Kidd the team once Lopez got
hurt, gives us a glimpse into how the Bucks will run their offense
this year: Fast paced, run and gun, similar to how he ran offenses
when he played.

He had a few miserable shooting games. Again, literally all freshmen do. I wouldn't say poor shot selection is his problem. Occasionally, he gets tunnel vision-- once again, something that the overwhelming majority of freshman scorers go through.

And most of his bad shot selection nights came against stout defensive teams, when we needed someone to take shots badly, like the Virginia games and the Arizona game. Those three games, the Mercer loss, and the Notre Dame loss. Five games out of thirty five, as a freshman, three of them against the best defensives in the country.

He'll be fine.

Don't get me wrong, I think he'll be a fine player in the L.
I love that he WANTED to go to the Bucks.
From what I saw at Duke, which I know wasn't as much as you,
was some settling when he was the best player on the floor.
Whether that was due to conditioning, laziness, or like you said tunnel vision, I won't know till I see him play some more.
But I see settling and I equate that to poor shot selection.
If not gonna take the best shot available to you, pass it -
get it back in a position where the percentage of you making it
goes up.

He's a lock to be a good player, hope he can be great.
Makes the East better, makes the league better.

Who would you say is his comp? Big Dog? Rudy Gay? Melo?
A mix of those guys?

Big Dog but better from 3?

I generally think his number will be closer to Melo's, but while I think 20+ points early is a safe bet, 29 per by year 4 like Melo... is a hell of a peak. I think he could approach that, but I wanna see him play a year or so in the pros before I'd put money on it.

Big Dog had an outstanding career. If he gets there, that's
a huge compliment.

Carmelo isn't even in the conversation. He's not nearly that
good. The only reason it came up at all is because we were in
the middle of the irrational Carmelo hate run. Now we're starting
to realize that Carmelo is actually a generational talent, whose
only flaw is playing in the same era as Lebron and Durant.

He did, what, 20 and 6 for like half a decade? A couple All-Star teams?

I think Jabari's scoring ceiling is closer to 24+, primarily cuz he can make 3s too.

But Big Dog is a compliment. Dude only throw Melo in if they believe he is a perennial All-Star and incredible talent. Which I happen to think he is.

In response to Reply # 0

Randle was clearly not in basketball shape and naturally so since dude hadn't played a real game in numerous months...however, he is so fluid for a big guy and the most important thing I saw was that he was able to get his shot off cleanly vs the opponent 7 footer on a couple trips.

Clarkson continues to show his value....nice jumper, very athletic, interacts really well with the rest of the team...his only major issue are the handles.

On a side note from that game...Russ Smith looks like he can contribute immediately. He's penetrating and dishing very well but more importantly imo, his ball pressure and lateral movement defensively is really really good.

Giannis is gonna be the star of the bucks. Jabari is good, but Giannnis will be better.
What I didnt see in him last year was any fire or confidence, he's turned the corner in that regard and just plays with more confidence.
In a redraft of the past 2 years, Id take Giannis over Jabari and Wiggins.
All due respect to O_E but I posted the first ever Giannis video on OKP because Morey was the first NBA GM to really look at him overseas. If we had a pick in that range or if he dropped, we woulda been all over it.

Lavine will be fun but a few years away. he will win a dunk contest though.

Nick Johnson is a solid NBA player. He doesnt do anything good or elite (except dunk) though. He can have along career as a bench combo guard.

I really hope DMo gets to play for the Rockets this year. He can be used situationally and has deficiencies, but the kid can score in a lot of different ways. If he were on a bad team, he'd put up 20 a game.

Julius Randle is big as fuck. I dont know what dude has been eating and lifting since end of season but gotdamn. What some might say he lacks in height is made up in girth. I remember thinking he was big for a college player but would be about average in pros, now he looks like hes big for a pro.
I know RBo will say hes got as good a jumpshot as Ray Allen, but if he can really get to knock down that 20 footer (without relying on it) he'll be a big problem. Right now everytime he catches you know hes gonna go to the hole. he has great feet , agility, and playmaking. He reminds me a bit of a less smooth LJ. guess its that Dallas connection.

Casper Ware CERRITOS, CA! deserves a shot. hes probably been consistently the best player in summer leagues. Dude can flat out make plays. he isnt a starter, but would make a great sparkplug off the bench. If Hinkie doesnt sign him somebody should.

Randle has the Al Jefferson bamma muscle body type rather than Z-Bo-ish beefy type body although he isn't quite as tall nor does he have the mitts.

Like I said, I like Giannis.

I don't really know what your Embiid point is. I said he was too raw to be #1 early in the college season, I guess? And then when he started showing more than anyone thought he would only a month into the season, I guess I back pedaled when I said he would be #1, and that I was amazed by how quickly he was showing feel for the game?

Not really sure what that means in regards to this subject, but okay.

It's a bold claim, I admire it. You're taking the way a guy who's already played a year of pro ball looks next to two guys playing their first summer league games, and putting your balls on the table that he will stay ahead of them. I dig. Just noting it.

I don't think Wiggins is gonna be what he was hyped up to be. A great defender for sure. great in transition. but offensively a disappointment outside of the highlight reel.

perfect player for the Cavs as constructed, and that was before LeBron, though... which is why I leaned toward him over Parker as a member of -that- team.

fan allegiances aside I would have preferred Parker. Giannis currently looks better than them.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

I do to think nick will be the guard off the bench first.
Will probably be Canaan. Rockets may shuttle nick back and forth through dleague

Yea all he does is catch and go to the hole. He should watch James harden videos and learn how to sell the foul.

He needs to be able to hit that jumper sometime

We already knew he was an above average passer but he gets out of control sometime. I expected him to gobble up more boards in summer league but I've seen a few plays where he was in position and didn't box out.

He's still getting In shape. The size he's gained is good in some respects, but it also means he doesn't have the same bounce he played with at UK. He'll have to find a balance.

Randle looks faster than he is just cuz of how he moves-- with force, but it looks smooth instead of lumbering. He's not insanely fast though.

Noel's fast as shit though. I saw him at Kentucky run back down the court with guards, catch up to them, and swat their shit. I bet if he'd done the 3/4 court sprint at the combine he would've gotten a 3.15.

He has all the skills to be a great mid-post player, other than a consistent jumper. He has the body to seal, the quickness over either shoulder, the handles to face-up...he just needs to work on that jumper in order to keep the defender honest and he will be very good. What has really impressed me is his passing ability...obviously the no look was sick but his passes consistently hit players right in their shooting pocket, he's crisp and accurate with his passing.

Size wise, he's definitely a natrural bull but I think he will lean up a little bit as he gets into NBA game shape. In turn with that increased stamina, I think we'll see his defensive work-rate and boxing out increase as well, he's definitely been a bit lax on that end, although he has a couple serious bursts where he went up for clean blocks....that really got me excited lol.

As much as I love Julius Randle. I might not watch a lot of Lakers games this year unless nothing else is on. The roster....I can't fuck with it right now. Too many other west coast teams to watch.

Plus if Rondo ever ends up in Sac. Sheeeeeit. That'd been an Mega-asshole bonanza with him & Cuz.
