"Top 5 organizations in the major sports " Mon Jun-16-14 12:36 PM by Cenario
Any criteria you want to use...just explain it.
I'm going with a combo of on the field success (chips), coupled with lack of negative stories, class of ownership down to the star players and everyone else associated with the organization with a major lean towards what I've seen with my own eyes in 32 years of life (last 20 years of life, dumb pre-teen years don't count).
SA Spurs Chi Bulls LA Lakers NY Yankees NY Giants
Hon men: St Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, San Fran 49ers
I don't follow hockey so didn't include them.
-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

a huge indicator of the strength of the organization over that time. Also, playoffs in 28 out of the last 30 years. Four chips, six trips to the Stanley Cup Finals, and six Presidents' Trophies all since 1995. 11 chips overall.
Edit: You added your edit about not including hockey while I was typing this lol...
3. "yeah i coulda added them but they would have knocked out my giants" In response to Reply # 1

Weighed heavily in my decision.

Spurs I think is obvious, they have a clear-cut culture, they draft well and they win. They pretty much check off everything on the list.
Cardinals I am very impressed with because they never lean too heavily on one any figure or any one aspect of their team. They are very adaptable. Great fans and loads of success.
The Kings still make me do a double take because there was a time not that long ago when they were one of the worst five organizations in the NHL. Ownership has not meddled and the guys in charge have had the right mix of keen insight and good fortune. It was great that they "missed out" on open-market guys like Kovalchuk and Brad Richards. Their trade and development heavy approach has worked brilliantly.
The Heat I give full marks to because Riles does the things that other GMs wish they could do, and he just keeps doing them. Three major turnovers of the roster in his tenure there, two of which led to championships. They found a championship coach in the video room.
The Blackhawks have really done a great job assembling a core, although they pretty much tanked like shit to get the foundation of it. Outside of that, Bowman has done a great job. They made a gutsy coaching change, they went with their core and rebuilt around it after they won a Cup and ran into the cap, and in general they seem poised to contend for a long time.
And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

1) Montreal Canadiens 2) New York Yankees 3) Boston Celtics 4) Pittsburgh Steelers 5) Los Angeles Lakers
One could argue the order all day but to me those are the elite organizations. There are a lot of arguables to round out the top ten but to me those are clearly the big five.
