I could agree if Floyd didn't have a history with Arum...but by resigning, Manny is taking money out of his own pocket...

the amount of money he'll make over the next three years is considerably less than he would have made by going independent and fighting Floyd.

TMT banner in order to fight him?
lol
Floyd hasn't been a bastion of consistency during this process, Manny would be a fucking fool to leave guaranteed money on the table in hopes that Floyd grants him the *blessing* of fighting him.
not to mention he'd give up almost all of his leverage in any negotiation with Boblee or whoever is the head of MP Promoters backing him with out the support of a network
you have floyd coming out the locker room telling people what gloves they have to wear, Manny would get raped smh
the $40 mil no PPV revenue was BEFORE KTFO6, what you think Floyd would be offering now without Arum/HBO backing manny?
bwhahahahah let's be realistic about the situation.
this was the best move for manny financially

So Pac as his own Man FA wouldn't be able to command top dollar still? Even without fighting Floyd? Word? What's he scared of that he wouldn't tell Arum thank for everything but I'm out now?

Manny would get more than that obviously but it's still only 1 fight
right today floyd would probably offer less than 40 but let's say he gives him $40 mil
ok then what? from there he has to assume the risk of all of his promotions and he damn sure ain't getting $20 mil guaranteed
manny just got a signing bonus rumored to be 8 figures and $80 guaranteed over a two yr period
and yall think he should give that up for the potential to possibly make $40 mil?
oh ard

Manny's not a Western kid that grew up knowing the ways of the world. He came up with nothing and Arum was instrumental in creating his brand. Filipinos are loyal. And, as slimy as he is, Arum's been loyal to Manny. That counts for a lot.

And this isn't like a Don King/Tyson situation where Manny's getting bled dry at every opportunity... he's got a pretty comfy life and is able to do whatever he wants (we'll see down the line just how set for the future he is though). And outside of boxing, Manny's a pretty simple guy. Why should he jump for an unknown when he looks like he's pretty happy where he is?

I just don't see why Manny should try to hitch his wagon to Floyd if all Floyd wants to do is talk shit about him and give himself all the leverage.

Why should he
>jump for an unknown when he looks like he's pretty happy where
>he is?

So keep sucking on Arums tit and not handle the biz that his stature he's made for himself in the game affords him? That's a bad thing? Folk' can't see how Floyd of all people can't respect that?

Or a person heeling it up to sell fights? He's not an entrepreneur. Dude loves to sing, go on Jimmy Kimmel and maybe a little cockfighting on the side. That's kinda it. He doesn't want to fuck around with venues or PPV shares or logistics or whatever. Just point him in a direction and let him fight.

Major props to Floyd for doing his thing and dictating his own terms for his own brand, but that's not in Manny's DNA. And, safe to say, that's not in the DNA for pretty much most fighters out there.

So why do people constantly try to compare Manny to Floyd in this way, when the only place people should try to compare them is in the ring?

lol @ trusting that dude for anything
floyd would probably fight him since he'd literally be out of excuses
but manny would get raped in the negotiations having given up ALL his leverage and probably would make way less money between now and 2016

Great points - and I wasn't suggesting it
was a bad move for *Mannny* - but it is
bad news if you're a boxing fan who wants
to see the mega-fight, IMO.

But Manny has made a fantastic career w/ Arum
navigating the ship - makes $20+ million per
fight (2nd to only Floyd and perhaps Wlad Klitschko)
- and has an unbelievable resume - a true all-time
great.

That said, I do not hold a favorable opinion of
Bob Arum. His ego has been instrumental in
damaging the potential for intriguing match-ups,
and he's contributing to the stagnation of
free-flowing competition (as are GBP and other
entities of course) - but he made the Mayweather
rift about *him* - when it should've been about
Pacquiao's legacy and the potential that fight
could do for him & Manny money-wise and in terms
of what it would mean to boxing.

Everyone involved in that farce should be ashamed.

but he and manny are probably neck and neck in reading and writing........in english.

haha dude.......just shut the fuck up already with the race baiting shit.

i know that floyd is like bill gates to you. that's ok. you're entitled to that opinion.

but anyway that stupid ass oscar delahoya thinks he did it first just because he had several mega pay days in his career and has been headlining ppv's since the 90's and then broke away from bob arum and started his own boxing promotional company in 2002 which has been involved with several recording breaking ppv's since and is now considered the #1 boxing promotional company in the sport. what a dbag.
