A combo of Lee, Carr or maybe even McCarron or Murray would be great.

Maybe a DT too

"QB Who Struggles Against a Pass Rush" is not my idea of a QB who will succeed in the NFL but it seems like McKenzie and Allen love him. I'd much rather have Mettenberger or Murray in Round 3 (both likely there) and use round 2 on a guy like Lee (might be gone by that pick) or a big WR like Robinson or Matthews or even a TE like Amaro.

I think he's a better thrower than people give him credit for but he basically played for an all star team in Alabama. I mean going from playing behind the Bama line to any Raider line since Gruden was here is basically a downgrade. He's definitely accurate though I give him that and I wouldn't be mad if they drafted him. But basically any QB they pick at this point is going to be a project and sit at least a year behind Schaub so they might as well pick a weapon in Round 2 and pick a QB in Round 3 or 4 who isn't that much worse and will have to sit anyway.

his deep ball accuracy sucks. watch any bama game and he'll miss two long touchdowns with an underthrown, overthrown, or misplaced throw.

the majority of his other throws were pro day difficulty level. play-action soft tosses on 2nd-and-5? of course the entire defense is reading run and giving him enormous lanes to underhand it in there.

and OKP's and Will's posts, I'm out on A.J.

I got gassed when he drew up that play for Gruden. But Gruden also beat us in the Super Bowl so it might just be a part of his long hustle.

he skipped the Senior Bowl because he thought a lock for the first round, skipped a visit to the Titans because he was "sick", then told everybody that he was guaranteed to be picked 16th to 35th overall.

media loves talking about his "intangibles", though. well, here's something tangible: he's an asshole.

Report: A.J. McCarron rubbed teams the wrong way in interviews
Posted by Josh Alper on May 10, 2014, 11:49 AM EDT

A.J. McCarron is one of the top quarterbacks left on the draft board heading into the fourth round and his approach to interviews with teams over the last couple of months may have something to do with that.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that McCarron, who quarterbacked Alabama to a pair of national titles, rubbed teams “the wrong way” when he met with them heading into the draft. It’s not the first time that we’ve heard things along these lines about McCarron.

PFT reported that McCarron’s repeated claims that he’d been told by teams that he would be a first-round pick didn’t sit well with some talent evaluators around the league. McCarron said last month that he expected to go as high as the 16th pick and no lower than the 35th pick, but his analysis was way off unless the whole thing was an elaborate deception to assure he wound up with a particular team in the fourth round.

That’s not what the whole thing was, of course. If McCarron’s interviews and demeanor are keeping him from getting picked, he really did himself a disservice during the process because he’s a third-day pick based on talent. His biggest selling points are the intangibles associated with leading a team to multiple titles but McCarron may have rendered them moot.

I just wanted a QB of the future drafted. And the GM already came out and said they're grooming Bortles for 2015, not for this season, which is a move I like.

We could use help at nearly every position, so all I want are players that are good. No busts, please. Can't afford it.

Luckily, now that Gene Smith is gone, I'm not afraid of us drafting a punter anymore.

looks like they're going all in on Bradford and that WR core

they figured out how to use Tavon Austin toward the end of the last season. That's only going to get better going into next year.

I'm predicted the Rams win the division

these receivers just aren't it. Brian Quick has been poised for his breakout season since... Gonna be too much pressure on Sam coming off an ACL with no real stud at the receiver position. Tayvon is cool, but other teams watch tape. He's not a workhorse receiver. Gonna be so crucial for Zack to pick up where he left off with the running game. If folk expect Sam to come out and throw them to victories...it's not gonna happen. Their defense is gonna be fuckin disgusting, but I think they'll still struggle to get in the end zone.

In response to Reply # 0

Man Chip is just bulldozing this front office & doing whatever the fuck he wants right now.

If we were gonna reach for an undersized Duck projected everywhere as a Day 3 pick, De'Anthony Thomas has game-breaking speed/escapability and at the very least becomes a Top 5 returner immediately while having his old coach find ways to involve him on offense.

But Chip instead already used a pick plus gave a contract extension to Darren Sproles and Thomas is a Crenshaw High guy who played in Snoop's Youth Football League so by default he's got gang ties.

I hate this offseason so much.

Huff has better size than DAT and is every bit as versatile. He's also disgusting in the blocking game.

DAT is explosive as shit, but there's every reason to be concerned about how he's going to translate to the next level, after he never put together complete season as a Duck. And that's coming from a fan.

>Huff has better size than DAT and is every bit as versatile.
>He's also disgusting in the blocking game.
>
He's 5'11" compared to 5'9".

Neither guy is in there for size.

And after Jason Avant & Riley Cooper, I'm not all that concerned with how great a blocker our wideouts are.

That's usually a ruse for a guy who's not gonna make a lot of plays.

>DAT is explosive as shit, but there's every reason to be
>concerned about how he's going to translate to the next level,
>after he never put together complete season as a Duck. And
>that's coming from a fan.
>
He's a specialist but he's got elite speed/game-break-ability. He's instantly gonna replace McCluster in KC & be a Top 5 return guy next year. And with a good offensive coach who devises ways to get him in space, he can make a big play or two on offense that has a major impact on the game.

I watched Oregon plenty, he never stood out above several of his teammates or made me think 'that guy is gonna beast at the next level'. Not to mention he's the second pick in three rounds that Chip picked at least one if not two rounds before their estimated projection.

I'm not sipping Chip Kelly's smoothie in terms of having blind faith in his ability to grab personnel. He won 10 games, based on the talent of offensive talent Andy's regime left. We never beat a playoff team (besides Green Bay without Aaron Rodgers) and we lost a home playoff game.

And somehow folks are so smitten that they rationalize moves that would have gotten the last coach hung in effigy like these 1st & 3rd round picks and the cutting of the team's second best player while receiving nothing in return.

And Chip increasingly becomes less communicative and sounds more stubborn/misguided each time he finally does.

No he's not tall, but he's considerably more stout than DAT, built like more of running back than anything. And he had considerably more playmaking impact in his final season than DAT did. I saw him as having grades of between 2nd and 4th rounds...

Clowney @ 1 overall gives us what has to be one of the best front 7 on paper in the league

O line depth is smart

Another TE I dunno what that's abt

Still no qb

My predictions here on out:
More line depth. Seems like we can't get enough of that
Another WR
A safety

That'll grade out as a B draft.

both have 2 picks left and large gay populations

in addition, ATL needs pass rushing

if he don't go there, he ain't gettin drafted

edit

Rams would be interesting too, but they got enough pass rush

What I miss?

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

hey.. the dude can rush the passer...he played for Mizzou and the folks loved the guy there. St. Louis is going to have its share of right wing azzholes....but Jeff Fisher runs a professional locker room...and this is a solid young team....he just got to rush the passer...and work on his coverage skills to stay on the squad...

kind of can't help but pull for the guy though seeing er'thing went through coming up....

The Jags really needed a pass rusher, so I would've loved if they'd taken him in a later round. I saw a lot of other (sensible) fans who felt the same way-- "he's a DPOY pass rusher, who cares if he's a tweener? It's the 6th/7th round, take the man!"

thankfully Grigson / Irsay didn't start giving away future picks (again) to move back into the top 50. this year was about taking the medicine from past deals.

I've been a Mewhort fan; Colts need *anybody* with a pulse at guard right now. Moncrief is a solid developmental pick with lottery upside. he's got the size and speed to be a different deep threat than Hilton.

rest of the division got better, tho. I really liked Jacksonville's draft -- whether you're in on Bortles or not, they got good football players at better value. Lee was a steal; he can play the X or Z despite his size. Robinson is a solid, 2nd/3rd wideout tweener. Telvin Smith, Storm Johnson and Aaron Colvin will improve a currently awful two-deep.
