you know the drill...team and number of games.

each of their top 12 players -- with the exception, ironically, of tim duncan -- finished with a TS% of .550 or higher. they're a fucking juggernaut. when their offense is clicking it's essentially unstoppable. they got like 7 immigrant niggas that can all stroke the trey.

they also have the league's 3rd best overall defense in points allowed per possession, right behind indy and chicago, and are 5th in rim protection (opponent's fg% within 5 ft of the basket). they also defend without fouling (3rd lowest in opp free throw rate) and they don't allow second chances (4th in defensive rebounding rate).

oh and they're rested too. no one on the roster averaged more than 30 minutes.

as complete a team as i've seen in a while, and maybe the finest coaching job of popovich's illustrious career. dude deserves a fucking medal. i can't imagine anyone beating them.

there's a very compelling argument that they've been the best team for three straight years.

last year, they and miami were basically completely equal. if not for ray allen, they're champs.

and for all the talk about okc's matchup advantage, two years ago it took ibaka and kendrick frickin perkins never missing in Game 5 for the Thunder to win.

i think the Spurs avenge both of those defeats this year.

Considering how shitty Manu was playing last year, I highly doubt the Spurs would have beaten OKC if Russy was healthy & they also struggled against the Dubs who were playing w/o D-Lee. Pop blew it & there is no one else to blame...no matter how much Pop wants to blame Danny Green for leaking out instead of challenging Bron's 3.

IMO

if Bron wasn't involved

it'd be regarded as one of the biggest Fails in sports

but here we are, a year later

and people are trying to spin this into some sort of robbery

they lost.

is that if all of a sudden tony AND manu go old on us, or manu goes manu on us, or pop breaks the egos of the post players other than duncan, then we're vulnerable to miami and the top teams out west.

i mean we pushed it as close as you possibly can last year to winning it all and that shit still happened to us.

They had favorable match-ups to get to the finals & Bron couldn't throw a rock in the ocean to save his life. When Wade/Bron's jumper were falling the Spurs lost all of those games. There is no way the Spurs would have beat OKC w/ the way Manu was playing & the fact that they had no secondary play-makers (Patty Mills/Belly-Nelly basically replaced Gary Neal who was terrible last year & couldn't run play besides calling his own number).

This year Kawhi has established himself as the co-3rd wheel & more importantly the bench doesn't solely depend on Manu as the primary play-maker.

and then they go deep into round 2 before heading
to the WCF -- those scenarios are unlikely, but if
they enter the Finals a bit worn down, their age
might show like it did in Game 7 last year.

But if they cruise through Dallas and into the WCF
unscathed, they take the 'chip.

The Mavs zone defense is tailor made to be picked apart by the Spurs. They are also a jump-shooting team which leads to easy baskets for the Spurs. The post-season doesn't get serious for the Spurs until the 2nd rd both the Rockets/PDX have given the Spurs trouble WHEN their shots are falling....reminiscence of the Warriors in last years 2nd rd. Both those teams are starters heavy thus the Spurs bench would need to play well to secure a series victory.

they would beat anyone else in a 7 game series though, so if the grizz or the clips/warriors somehow upset OKC, spurs should win it all.

-Reggie is too quick for any of the guards on the bench
-Ibaka is an elite mid-range shooter.....a shot Pop prefers to concede plus he refuses to let anyone w/ a Spurs jersey score in the paint.
-Russy abuses Top5
-Perk always earns his money against Timmay & he has Adams/Collision to back him up.
-Butler basically neutralizes Manu
-Diaw can't check KD if Kawhi gets in foul trouble
-OKC has quick/athletic players w/ long limbs which enables them to run the Spurs shooter off of the 3 point line.

The only way the Spurs win is if Top5 badly outplays Russy & Kawhi does a solid job of KD.

>each of their top 12 players -- with the exception,
>ironically, of tim duncan -- finished with a TS% of .550 or
>higher.
That's primarily because their bench is some much better than the opposing bench that they toy w/ them & get plenty of open looks. Timmay was struggling w/ his mid-range game early in the season but he was much better after the new year.

>they also have the league's 3rd best overall defense in points
>allowed per possession, right behind indy and chicago, and are
>5th in rim protection (opponent's fg% within 5 ft of the
>basket). they also defend without fouling (3rd lowest in opp
>free throw rate) and they don't allow second chances (4th in
>defensive rebounding rate).
This really depends on how much Splitter plays..He is a very good defender but he struggles against smaller line-ups thus Pop plugs in Diaw who provides little resistance in the paint & gets killed on the boards. One of the reason the Spur struggle against OKC is b/c Splitter doesn't play much against them.

>oh and they're rested too. no one on the roster averaged more
>than 30 minutes.
They actually became the only team since the merger not to have anyone on the roster averaging 30 mins.

>as complete a team as i've seen in a while, and maybe the
>finest coaching job of popovich's illustrious career. dude
>deserves a fucking medal. i can't imagine anyone beating
>them.
They are built like the 2002 Sacramento Kings....let's just hope they don't get got by Fisher in Gm 7.

WHAT'S GOOD *****? What's REALLY good?!?!????!!! Ha HA!

engineered these last 2 ugly L's for the 6 seed to face Toronto?

If I'm Kidd I'm not trying to face Thibs squad first round

If BK sees the Heat I'm thinking it's taking minimum 6 games if not 7 for the Heat to get through the Nets. But the Nets have a fighting chance for real. Just a good match up for them.

I expect miami to turn it on and handle them.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

They might not be getting respect on OKS projections but I think they very well could beat the Nets if they're not really playing possum right now

Most agree Raptors and the Bulls would have both been tough match ups for the Nets for different reasons, but Raptors are the slightly easier match up, if for anything their lack of experience

simply because as good as the raptors were, and beat a lot of good teams all year quietly, they can't beat Miami and will probably get swept...

Nets take Miami at least 6...

I do think Toronto wouldve given Indy a run tho

I doubt they lose more than eight games this entire playoffs. If they lose more than two games before the conference finals something's wrong but they still winning the chip. They might lose one game on some fluke shit like aka AI's best game due to the time off.
