all i'll say is i believe in this team & it's clear that they will not be satisfied w/ getting this far, this *team* wants it all and will break their necks to play together to get it

You have a Duke team with no interior, a UNC team with one shooter (lost their other one to stupidity), a Syracuse team with zero bench (lost a key cog due to injury), and a Notre Dame team that lost their best player to injury. Combine that with some programs that have shown life in the last decade being in a deep state of transition (Miami with a brand new roster, Wake with a lame duck coach, VT with a lame duck coach), and, yeah, you're left with Virginia, the only team that has shown consistency all year long (also, probably not coincidentally, the team with the most experience). The others have all shown stretches of brilliance, peppered with stretches of total ineptitude.

However, if you want to make this post also about next season, when Duke gets a big man, UNC adds a shooter, Larranaga gets another year of build, VT gets Buzz Williams, Wake potentially gets Shaka Smart, and Virginia continues to have Tony Bennett... oh, and Louisville is tossed into the mix? I mean, I personally wouldn't, but hey, go for it.

I had the ACC pegged as about the fourth best conference coming into the season, behind the Big 12, Big 10, and Pac-12. That's about right.

Unless you're not factoring in things like depth and you're only using "teams alive in the tournament right now." In which case you're arguing that the SEC is better than the Big 12.

We had 3 players transfer last year as well as Steven Adams going pro when we assumed he would stay and develop.

Add that to Khem Birch's transfer the year before (he isn't a superstar but we sure could have used him and planned to have him) and basically our roster this year was a total rebuild that we didn't plan ahead for.

Pitt isn't Kentucky, we can't handle a loss of 4 or 5 players and just replace them. We started the season way better than we should have, but even making the 2nd round of the tournament was a successful season for this team, just seems like it wasn't because we started so well and people got expectations that weren't fair for the team.

We'll get better

It'll probably take me another season before I remember that Pitt is an ACC school now, lol.

Tournament expectations weren't met. I simply thought I'd provide thoughtful explanations as to why one could've seen these things coming. I only had one ACC team in my bracket Sweet 16 (not Duke, btw), and my preseason rankings had them fourth among other conferences. So my expectations in terms of relative conference strength weren't that far off.

My expectations for Duke obviously grew much lower in February than they were in November, for a variety of reasons I need not bore people with. But outside of Duke's disappointment, and Virginia exceeding expectations, I'd say everyone else was right around where I thought they would be.

Well, two more exceptions: I thought Notre Dame was a tourney team, but once Jerian Grant went down, that was obviously lost, and I thought BC would take a leap this year, but outside of one game in which they showed their potential, they inexplicably underwhelmed at every turn.

Regarding past Big East slams, I'm at a loss. I realize a lot of people have "conference pride" and cheer for their conferences to be the best and celebrate when other conferences fall, but I've always said fuck all that. I don't want any ACC teams to succeed, only mine. UNC, Cuse, or anyone else winning "on behalf of the ACC" gives me as much pleasure as I'm sure Duke winning on behalf of the conference gives UNC, Cuse, Maryland fans and the like.

after kentucky finally played a good game, y'all better not fuck around and regress against louisville. you beat one of the two best teams, one that was incredibly fun to watch. we're aight if this means y'all are going to play to potential, but the word "listless" better be struck from the collective vocabulary.

Virginia should be able to be consistently good, Pitt is always good. And now good coaches like Buzz Williams are taking over shitty schools like VT. The league should be very strong in the coming years.

Syracuse has 149 wins in the last 5 years. That's elite.

They're both top 10 programs. UNC and Duke are top 5.

No other conference has a better top 4. If you disagree, name a better top 4;
