Could still use some receivers but that makes the Jets more dangerous.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Vick back knowing the scheme/team/providing a spark.

Jason Campbell is an old journeyman at this point.

If the brilliant Chip Kelly can somehow make due without his #1 wideout, I don't wanna bother going to waste money on an old backup who never will be anything to us.

Barkley got a raw deal last year in the situations he came in.

I'd rather see whether they burned that pick then waste time with Jason Campbell or John Skelton or whoever.

I don't think he's an NFL qb. I'd rather have someone that gives us a chance to win a few games and Campbell showed he's capable enough with how he played in Cleveland. If we have to start Barkley you can pretty much pencil in a L. Plus, if you real do think Barkley's got potential, a vet with some experience won't hurt to have around.

backup QB.

Might as well find out now, I think he'll be fine if he's in games he actually knows he's going to be in, taking actual backup QB snaps in camp and practice.

When he got thrown in at the end of that half after Vick went down vs the Giants......a game Chip fucked up only giving Barkley seven snaps total all week before even tho Vick was surely looking gimpy all week based on how he started that game. Then as he drives 90 yards no huddle Chip calls a timeout inside the five, stopping the kid's momentum he'd been moving with and on 1st-and-4 instead of feeding Shady calls that crazy play with Barkley running out and having one target to throw.

As it turned out he'd never even seen that play in training camp let alone actually been under center and run it.

I'm fine with Barkley backing up if we don't have Vick

He's had a year in the league, he's had time to regain strength in the separated shoulder still bothering him post-draft and furthermore we need to see what he's got to see if he's worth keeping around or if he could generate some heat in relief maybe be dealt.

He was better than Nick Foles in college and Foles had times of sucking before it clicked.

What else they gonna do, sign Mark Sanchez or Kevin Kolb?

If Genius Chip can win with Riley Cooper instead of Desean Jackson (yet to be determined) well then wave your magic wand and win with Barkley in place of Foles if necessary.

The gap is certainly not as great.

Let's not marginalize for the sake of defending Barkley's putrid play last year.

When he sucked, he sucked BAD. Foles was never that bad. He literally turned it over just about every possession. You clearly have more faith in him than I do. But it seems that Chip does too, so I'm not holding my breath for a veteran.

And I don't think Chip possess a magic wand, but I'm guess we'll find out. Although if Nick Foles goes down (God forbid) for an extended period during our run to another division chip, I'd feel much more comfortable with a proven vet instead of Barkley coming in and "finding out" if he can be a capable backup.

he knew he was playing, the plays he was running and had taken the snaps all week.

I'm not giving up on Barkley off those two hurricanes he walked into as a rookie third-stringer in division games we trailed in.

His first drive versus the G-Men at the end of the first half was beautiful before that timeout & call, that was the ball game right there.

The Cowboy shit was one quarter against a defense with its ears pinned back playing the pass and he tossed up funballs but still threw for more yards and gained more first downs in a quarter while looking less shook than Foles did in the two or three before he got knocked out.

I don't know what QB they're supposed to get but as someone who watched Barkley since high school I don't think backup QB is a role that's at all beyond his grasp.

I'm honestly still not even sure about the starting QB.

Think he's gonna face some real adversity this year now that people have an offseason to look at tape and know he's who they're gameplanning for and Desean gone.

but I'm not so sure. We will see.

As far as Foles I'm not totally convinced either but I am confident. And I have a feeling that Chip isn't looking at Maclin as the sole replacement for DeSean, I think he will draft someone he likes. I'm actually afraid he's going to spend too many picks on offense and the D won't get repaired like it should.

one other unfortunate byproduct of this thing.

Starting to get the feeling he's on some Bizarro Buddy shit anyway in terms of overloading towards the offensive side of the ball.

I was hoping safety if either Dix or Pryor fell somehow, otherwise corner, with their first.

Bet they now might go Benjamin, I'd rather Marquis if they were gonna take one but really we need defensive difference-makers.

But now we're gonna need an offensive one too.

Was originally planning all defense until at least round 3, maybe 4.

Then steal a wideout and/or grab De'Anthony Thomas (which they sorta addressed with Sproles).

I'm just not happy with anything they've done this offseason now that I see the overall shape of it.

Hope that gets better after the draft but I'm mad.

I was really hoping for Dix as well, or at least someone in the secondary.

The thing is, regardless of whether or not DeSean is "Chip's kind of guy" or not, he fits in and excels in his offense. It blows my mind that Chip would be that petty or flat out stupid to just dump him for nothing when he's producing the numbers he's producing and have to waste a pick to replace him and take a chance on an unproven player just because he's not "Chip's guy".

It's infuriating.

All of the other reasons they're coming up with is bullshit, it doesn't make any sense. He's never been that much of a problem.

I want a DAMN GOOD reason for getting rid of him. I don't believe they have one that's good enough. Or they won't say.

The only thing I really like that they did this offseason was bring back Maclin. We'll see what they do in the draft but what they're doing with Jackson is not a good look to say the least.

Based on Vick's early convo's too it sounds like the team did not promise him shit as far as being the starter... Jets have really needed competition at the qb spot, they have it, may the best man win

now bring on desean!

Vick comes in, does some brilliant shit for 6 games, gets the jets to the playoffs or respectability. now what?
