The entire time other programs were going through NCAA sanctions and issues, I saw numerous OSU fans talking and being proud of their regime's purity (for a lack of a better word) and rightfully so. However, when those allegations and scandal came out, there was a whole lot of "but, but, but" from OSU cats and that still remains. That to me doesn't show any real introspection, it's back-pedaling and rationalization....I thought you guys were proud of your school and coach for being the standard bearer of running a good program in absolute terms, not in relative terms. That's the sense I got from my numerous interactions with OSU fans so if that wasn't the general sentiment, I stand corrected.

I can't answer in absolute terms because it's ridiculously naive to think any elite BCS program is perfect and that players aren't getting broke off either via boosters or campus perks. but yes, OSU fans did take pride in that their program had a solid direction and a good rep of NCAA compliance. Not sure where you're going with this however...

I was just wondering because I have talked to and interacted with many OSU fans (you guys travel well, my close fam friend goes to med school there, i've visited campus numerous times) so I don't know if I just had a skewed sample or not.

secondly, you have your timeline off a bit. 'at least we aren't xyz college' happened down the line when more programs got in trouble and made the stuff going on at OSU look like child's play.
