TASTY MATCHUPS GALORE.
1 PM: Tennessee vs. #1 Florida. ABC.
Until UK's performance last night, the Vols had looked like the second best team in the SEC recently. Still, I would be stunned if they make it to the SEC Finals.
1 PM: Pitt vs. #6 UVA. ESPN.
Pitt picked one hell of a time to play their best basketball of the season yesterday. Still, as UVA, like UNC, is a team that plays their best in the second half, and Pitt is a team with well-documented problems closing games, I have trouble seeing Pitt finding further success. Besides, their win last night effectively got them off the bubble, I'd imagine-- they don't have the same urgency today.
1:30 PM: St. Bonaventure vs. St. Joseph's. CBS Sports Network.
Last night, the Bonnies pulled off the miracle. Can they continue the Cinderella run to the A10 Finals? St. Joseph's is probably in after their win over Dayton... but then again, a loss to an 18-14 team could sink them right back off.
1:40 PM: #24 OSU vs. #8 Michigan. CBS.
Both of these teams have survived by the skins of their teeth in the last two days (Abrams was so open, holy lord). UM is the better team, plain and simple, but Matta generally gets his boys up for the Big Ten Tourney, and they may want revenge for their loss in Columbus earlier. Should stay close.
3 PM: NC State vs. #7 Duke. ESPN.
After a lovely night of watching the media compliment the refs on their good calls at the end of a close Duke game instead of bathing the victory in scrutiny, we get to face TJ Warren. OH JOY. Duke was fucking abysmal on defense in the second half yesterday, and another effort like that will allow the upset. If you're in Vegas, I'd take State and the points-- it's a nine point spread, and I imagine it will be closer unless K lights a fire.
3 PM: Georgia vs. Kentucky. CBS.
Meanwhile, don't take the points here. UK smoked Georgia earlier in the season, and last night was one of their best games of the season.
4 PM: George Washington vs. #23 VCU. CBS Sports Network.
It'd be cool to watch this under-the-radar, sneaky-good GW team pull off the upset. Havoc is back, however.
4:05 PM: #22 MSU vs. #12 Wisconsin. CBS.
Can Keith Appling play healthy? That's the key to MSU's success. Wisconsin has played beautifully the better part of the last month, and a 1 seed is still in play for the Badgers.
6 PM: UCLA vs. #4 Arizona. FOX Sports 1.
These teams haven't played since January 9th. I actually wouldn't be surprised by the UCLA upset at all. They smoked both Oregon and Stanford the last two days, pissed after their embarrassing loss to WSU, I take it. Arizona's 1 seed is safe.
6 PM: #21 UConn vs. #5 Louisville. ESPN.
A game vs. Cincinnati would've been more interesting. UConn defensively has no answer for Smith or Harrell. Double digit win for the Cardinal as their tear continues.
6 PM: #20 New Mexico vs. #8 SDSU. CBS Sports Network.
MOUNTAIN WEST BACK ALLEY BRAWL! San Diego's ugly offense vs. Bricking Bad (coined by Andy Glockner). Should be a battle of the defenses here.
8:30 PM: Providence vs. #14 Creighton. FOX Sports 1.
Providence split with the Jays regular season. Gus and Bill probably on the call. This will be worth watching.
8:30 PM: Sam Houston State vs. Stephen F Austin. ESPN2.
The only 30-2 team in the nation you haven't seen. SFA hasn't lost since November 23rd. They look to finish their conference season unbeaten after facing a challenge in a close game last night vs. Northwestern State (that I watched the final quarter of, since I have a problem).
9 PM: Baylor vs. #16 Iowa State. ESPN.
Iowa State's offense absolutely dominated the Jayhawks yesterday. Won't get the same type of fortune with Baylor, whose bigs should discourage Niang and the type of penetration the Jayhawks gave up without Embiid. Still, ISU's offense is scary deep.
