Nothing I said in this post was wrong. Duke and Cuse both had arguments at the time of the post, and UNC still had not beaten a quality team in their win streak.
Since then, Cuse got blown out by UVA (which I said in the post would change things, as it'd be by far their best win), UNC got a good win against Duke, and Duke has fallen apart in the last two games.
I fail to see why you're focusing so much attention on me, lol. I'm happy you guys won. And things have changed, as they do, since the original conversation.

They have two potential lottery talents on that roster in Ennis and Grant, one of the best scorers in college in CJ Fair, and the typical Cuse dead-eye 3-point threat in Cooney.
People THOUGHT it would be a down year because no one expected Ennis to be as good as he's been. But since he's been possibly the best point guard in the country to date, they are absolutely as good as they can be, with plenty of talent and a system that has worked for decades.
Find me one season in which Cuse has had two lottery picks in the same year. Just one. EDIT: in which they were both ready to be Top 15 picks-- obviously Coleman and Owens were both lotto but came out different years... and either way, if that was the last squad to have two lotto picks playing at lotto caliber the same season, that doesn't help your "down year" argument.

The formula for Boeheim hasn't changed a bit, its just certain years he can recruit 5 star players on Jabari/Wiggin's level...he doesn't have that this year and just like every other year, they are GOOD.

1. He has not had a recruit on the level of a Wiggins or a Parker since Carmelo. In fact, Tyler Ennis is the third highest rated player Boeheim has gotten in the twenty years- only Donte Greene and Fab Melo were higher on Rivals' rankings.
2. He does have a recruit this year in Ennis who is insanely highly regarded, a five star guy who will very possibly WIN freshman of the year OVER Wiggins, Parker, and Embiid. So to act like he's playing without his usual talent, when this is in all likelihood his most top-heavy team in years talent-wise, is lunacy.
3, as a side note. I also don't know why people assumed Boeheim would need any period of time to "settle in" to the ACC. Why? It's the most overrated trait ever. People assumed Creighton would need to "settle in" to the Big East this year too-- if you have a good coach with a good system and good talent, you'll be fine anywhere. Good is good.

That's not really up for much debate.
If you can find me another Cuse lineup with two lottery guys (Ennis definitely lotto, Grant on the fringe) in the last two decades, I'd be stunned. Add to that one of the better scorers in college (a late first/early second guy in all likelihood) and two of the better specialists in their particular specialty field in the entire sport...
You can think they're not a Final Four team this year-- cool. You can even think they're going to get better recruits now that they're in the ACC-- again, cool, I guess. But thinking this team doesn't have the typical Boeheim caliber talent, when they are in fact probably his most talented team in a long time, is... not a statement that I would make. Because, you know, it's wrong.

When you consider that the 2 lottery picks on that team(Waiters, MCW) didn't even start. Though they were lottery picks a year apart. But Melo and Joseph were also first round picks on that team, Southerland was drafted, CJ Fair had a big role on that team as a soph, and then non-NBA players but veteran college guards Scoop Jardine and Brandon Triche. Christmas was a contributor as a freshman too, plus Keita.
This team doesn't have the depth or as much athleticism as that team did. I do think this is the smartest, savviest SU team in a long time and that starts with Ennis.

There are reasons why Duke and Cuse are both likely (excepting an end-of-season collapse) to get higher tourney seeds than UVA, even if UVA wins the ACC regular season outright.
And I'm not terribly afraid of playing UVA in the ACC Tourney. 6-1 against Bennett, sole loss coming at UVA, where Bennett's squads have played everybody extremely well.
UVA has come a long way the last five years. And they got the right schedule at the right time to give themselves the opportunity to win the ACC regular season outright, which for UVA is worthy of a banner in the rafters. No one would be upset by a UVA ACC title. Except for, I don't know, whoever UVA's rival is-- VT, I guess?
And I'm familiar with Bennett's style-- that grind it out, keep the game close, wear them down stuff. I get it. I just don't put a lot of stock in that style being an odds-on favorite to beat a team with NBA talent. And outside of a UNC team that was still in full-blown free fall, you haven't beaten a team like that yet this year.
I'm willing to re-evaluate if y'all can beat Cuse. Which I'm obviously rooting for.

Saying you had an easier schedule (factual) and you earning the title (factual) aren't one-or-the-other statements.
You didn't lose bad games, and you won all but one of the good conference games on your schedule. That's earning the title.
Until you beat Cuse, you didn't have a really good ACC win. That's also factual. But you beat the brakes off them, and you deserve the credit for that.

It may have affected the margin of your lead in the conference, but it did not affect the lead itself. Even with an extra theoretical two losses to tougher opponents, you'd have still won the ACC.
This post was made before Cuse's collapse and before Duke's recent two-game slump, btw. Cuse and Duke still could've made arguments at the time, many of which had to do with schedule. A lot has changed since its posting... except for UVA. They keep winning.

Dude posted during the one month Duke played defense this season and was looking exceptionally good, I was pleased having actually watched all those games, and I now apparently have to apologize every time Duke has been awful down the stretch (often) or every time UVA does something good (often). Granted that in itself is fairly astonishing and I kind of had the same sentiment...thankfully I chilled.
But when you put "lol"s into the world and the man you laughed at is fully vindicated...man. This is a fresh L from the oven, not the leftover L from finishing behind both his poll options during the season.
Him leaving the team that beat his team off the poll was the right move.
It obviously played out beautifully for him, as UVA kept getting better and the final month Duke was one of the worst in the ACC, but the argument for why Duke, at a time when they were playing strong ball and had a win over UVA, should be on the poll was obvious.
The real moral I'm taking from this post: making pro-Duke arguments is a zero-reward stance, lol.
