"2014 Dallas Cowboys: The More Things Change..."

So, gang...Monte Kiffin demoted to "assistant coach" and Rod Marinelli promoted to DC. Scott Linehan is now the "passing" playcaller??? SMH. I'm actually not all THAT mad about this. Hell, I wish he could be the OC, period. Dude is grip it and rip it...but I know that Garrett is always lurking. On top of that, isn't this really just some fuck shit that Jerry would do? Three mothafuckas dealing with the offense. Gonna be a long, dumb off-season.

...I'm from the era when A.I. was the answer, now they think ai is the answer - Marlon Craft

In response to Reply # 0

http://www.empiresports.co/tony-romo-and-jason-witten-admit-to-homosexual-romance/

The NFL has been set on fire with this new story breaking out of Dallas this morning. Cowboy teammates Tony Romo and Jason Witten have admitted that they have had a intimate relationship with each other for the past several years. The duo who has been called out before by former Cowboy Terrell Owens has finally come clean.

Jason and I both felt like the time to come clean was now. With the all the acceptance of being gay now we had no reason not to. We are in love and no one can take that away from us. Since day one we felt something special between us and that eventually led to us having a relationship for several years now. said Romo who was hand in hand with lover Jason Witten next to him.

We managed to reach Candice Romo and ask for her input and she had the following to say:
Im upset to say that least. I knew they were very close but I didnt expect them to be actually together. I love Tony and we have a family but this clearly changes everything. I am unsure what is next for our marriage and what Tony plans to do but I will raise my daughter and I hope he will continue to be a father to our child. But I do hope the best for him in what he chooses to do with himself. I still love him with all my heart.

None of the Cowboy players or staff could comment on this story. But with this story just breaking out expect a major whirlwind of media looking for any and all comments on this story from any and all people in the spotlight who will give their opinion on this. But the biggest question is what happens to the Cowboys next season? How much will this disrupt the team next season?

Chancellor and Sherman have developed immensely since college. the former was a big hitter in college but never did I think he'd become this capable in coverage.

if Seattle knew they'd be this good, they wouldn't have waited so long to pick them either. it's like crying over passing Tom Brady -- well, the Patriots passed him five times too.

Exactly, Kam Chancellor was not the type of safety that most people were looking for a few years ago.

A big, very slow, ferocious hitter with limited coverage ability and stiff hips.

Sounds like Roy Williams.

Obviously Carroll has a system that relies heavily on zone and a future HOF free safety who can erase any mistakes on the back end. He plays Chancellor close to the box and their rush combined with pressing at the line before going into heavy Cover 3 makes it too difficult for anyone to "pick on" Chancellor in coverage.

If the Cowboys had picked dude, he prolly would have been cut a long time ago.

difference in player development. those players would have had about 3 different schemes and multiple coaches by now.

Kam Chancellor coming in as a rookie to a team that plays a lot of man or Cover 2 would have struggled mightily.

Honestly, he likely would struggle on that sort of team right today.

Tony Romos back injury is still affecting his deep throws
Posted by Michael David Smith on August 5, 2014, 9:32 PM EDT

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is most of the way back, but he is still feeling the effects of the back injury that cut short his 2013 season in one respect: His deep passes arent quite as good as they used to be.

Thats the word from Cowboys quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson, who said Romo has had problems throwing long.

I think the deeper the ball goes down the field, its a little bit more inconsistent, Wilson said, via the Star-Telegram. Hes thrown all the intermediates the fours and the seven routes and the deep outs have been fine. Its just the nine routes and the deep posts. Those things have been a little inconsistent. I think thats all due to his back.

Wilson added, however, that he expects Romos deep passes to improve through the next month and that Romo should be good to go for Week One.

He can get the ball down the field, Wilson said. Thats not an issue. As camp goes on, hell just get nothing but stronger and more confident in his throws.

Romo is expected to sit out this weeks preseason opener but take the field next week. Thats when well all get a look at Romo in his first live action after back surgery.

potentially worse than that one year where Romo went out the whole year after that Buttskins game, and the carousel of backups started.

- Jerry Jones on that Favre
- total ignorance of defense
- and now Romo?

but I'm looking (HOPING) for a Giants implosion
last year was glorious.

the amount of grinning I was doing through 0-6 last season? Sheeeeeeeeeeeeit. little kids at the Meadowlands saying "YOU SUCK ELI" on camera? Loved it.

but not from the defense...

Orlando popping molly with Draya. *sigh*

OXNARD, Calif. -- The NFL has suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick for the first four games of the season, owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Monday.

Scandrick tested positive for MDMA, which is more commonly known as "Molly," league sources told ESPN's Ed Werder. He became the 21st player of 104 suspended for performance-enhancing drugs to test positive for MDMA.

More from ESPN.com
And you thought a defense that allowed 415.3 yards and 27.0 points per game last season couldn't get worse? Well, it just did, writes Jean-Jacques Taylor. Story

Sources told Werder that the violation occurred while Scandrick was vacationing in Mexico with an ex-girlfriend, whom he has claimed persuaded him to add a substance he didn't realize was on the banned list into a cocktail they were drinking.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Scandrick failed a drug test in April and appealed its findings. The league rendered its decision Monday. He will lose approximately $1 million through four missed game checks and a signing bonus repayment.

In a statement released through his agent, Ron Slavin, Scandrick insisted he did not knowingly take a banned substance.

"I would like to apologize to my children, my family, the Jones family, my coaches, my teammates and my fans," Scandrick said in the statement. "Failing a drug test is far out of my character, and although I never knowingly took a performance-enhancing drug/banned stimulant while on vacation in Mexico, I take full responsibility for what goes in my body and more importantly for the embarrassment of a failed drug test. It's my goal by issuing this statement to clear my name and more importantly to be judged by what happens to me in the future.

Oh Boys, What A Loss
The Cowboys defense was much more effective with Orlando Scandrick on the field the last two seasons, particularly on third down. Here's a look:

On Field Off Field
Snaps 1,350 729
Total QBR 61.2 66.1
3rd down conv 38.8% 50.5%
Yds per att 7.2 7.6
-- ESPN Stats & Information
"I hope that my family, my Cowboys football family and all my fans can forgive me for this situation. I look forward to a successful 2014 season."

Scandrick, a seven-year veteran, is coming off the best season of his career. He won the starting job when Morris Claiborne was injured during the preseason and performed well, serving as a bright spot on a unit that ranked last in the league in total defense. Scandrick and Claiborne, who missed the preseason opener due to tendinitis in his right knee, were competing for a starting job again this summer.

Slavin blamed the suspension on the NFL and NFL Players Association's failure to come to an agreement on human growth hormone testing, which has been a point of contention since a new collective bargaining agreement was passed in 2011.

"I do not excuse Orlando having tested positive for a banned stimulant," Slavin said in a statement. "The current rules are what they are, and a player is responsible for what is in his body. However, I would like it known that it is my understanding that if the current proposed agreement related to HGH testing would have already been instituted, a very significant percentage of the players receiving 'PED' suspensions since the new CBA took effect would not have been suspended. Instead, these players, under the proposed new policy, would have been subjected to the Substance Abuse Policy and Program.

"More than 80 missed games, millions of dollars in fines and bonus repayments have been issued because the NFLPA and NFL cannot come to an agreement. The only people who are losing in this standoff are the players and fans."

The last known Cowboys player to be suspended for violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy was defensive back Marcus Coleman, who was released in October of the 2006 season after he served a four-game suspension and was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

ESPNDallas.com's Calvin Watkins contributed to this report.

This is going to be epically bad.

We keep talking like we're just going to go all in on offense to compensate for the lack of defense but I never really trust Tony. I don't trust Jason. I don't trust Jerry.

about sean lee or demarcus ware, as much as i like them...with all the linebackers we've drafted over we need to be hitting more. we got coakley, james, and ware back to back to back as linebacker picks a decade ago. since then it's a loooot of dudes who can't get it together to even play or end up as the third best linebackers on other teams.

Frisco police: Cowboys’ Joseph Randle arrested Monday, charged with theft

Frisco police say Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was arrested Monday evening for allegedly shoplifting at the Dillard’s at Stonebriar Mall.

Police were called to the Dillard’s at 8:17 p.m. Monday, said Frisco police spokesman Chad LaPrelle. The store’s loss prevention employees had detained Randle, who was later charged with theft, a Class B misdemeanor.

LaPrelle said he didn’t know what was allegedly stolen, but it ranged from $50 to $500.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports surveillance video showed the 22-year-old shoplifting underwear and a bottle of cologne from the department store.

Randle was released from Frisco City Jail early Tuesday after posting bail.

He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys out of Oklahoma State in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He’s currently behind DeMarco Murray on the depth chart and played a key role in the Cowboys’ win at Seattle on Sunday, rushing for 52 yards against the league’s top rushing defense.

Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle stole a tester bottle of Gucci Guilty Black cologne from a Dillard's department store Monday night ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Randle -- who's making nearly $500k this year -- was arrested for shoplifting ... and our sources say he's accused of boosting the cologne AND a 2-pack of black Polo underwear.

We're told store security footage captured the whole thing.

Randle was released from custody early Tuesday morning.

Just one night before the arrest, Randle rushed for 52 yards in a dramatic victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

it looked like the defense could be the worst in the history of football...and NO ONE can honestly say they thought the offense was gonna beast like this. I knew Scott Linehan was legit, but I didn't think he'd help the way he did because I halfway didn't believe they were really going to let him call plays.
