Team is LOADED with talent, good situation

Good grief, I'm actually not used to this

Of course, its only because of Dungy keeping lots
of black assistants around

Reason #45542 that you need diversity

Look at Stanford's team...brothas ALL OVER the
coaching staff

as has been suggested. I'd rather go with Marinelli instead as DC, but Frazier works.

Now I'm curious about GM...it's gotta be someone with a prior relationship with Lovie.

Along those lines, I'm not too keen about Jerry Angelo coming here. Tim Ruskell however would work

..won't front like i don't have my reservations about his history with qb's, but i like his overall coaching personality.

he's a major improvement and certainly the best candidate currently available. that locker room needs some SERIOUS discipline, and i'm confident he has that on lock.

should be interesting to see what direction he chooses to get started.

Cutler was drafted by Denver, was brought in, and didn't
improve. Only when the QB is white and the coach is black
does the coach get blamed for shit like that.

And its the front office's fault that Rex Grossman was
starting. Rex Grossman sucks

That "developing QB's" thing is hung on him unfairly, IMO. He did the best with what he had, I mean, Bears made it to a SB with Grossman.

Yeah, Rex Grossman.

Just hope he hires a good OC and that there is a positive GM-like situation, he will get it done.

..there are plenty of people on staff for an NFL team that are responsible for the development of all personnel.

the HC is responsible for ALL of them.

i don't expect the head coach to be solely responsible for the development of any specific position, but he's certainly held accountable for hiring adequate assistants. if those people aren't getting it done, find those that WILL.

I haven't seen that anywhere.

If that's the case...I'm not cool with that.

There needs to be a GM over him, preferably someone with a prior working relationship with him either back in the day under Dungy/McKay or while at STL or Chicago (NOT Angelo, please).

Tampa HAS talent. This is a good situation for Lovie. I don't know the ins and outs of the team, but I can't imagine the handling of the Freeman situation went over well with the players.

Better situation than in DC.

Though I wanted him here, DC doesn't deserve this dude.

He should do well down in Tampa, and that division is going to be the truth.

..nothing against vick, but the bucs don't need him

they have a young team, plenty of talent, and potential. they need proper guidance, leadership, and discipline.

guidance
leadership
discipline

that doesn't exactly scream michael vick.

nobody's expecting this team to be super bowl contenders next season. however, as they improve and approach contention, they can weigh their options. until then, they're better off drafting & developing their own talent.

He is 86-66 as a Head Coach

He went to the Superbowl and an NFCCG while saddled with a terrible GM and a stingy owner (most of his time there)

He won the NFC North 3 times.

And if Lovie had gone out of his way to bring Cassel into Tampa as his QB, it would be just as confusing as why he thought McCown would be a franchise QB.

At least there's Teddy coming.

This is not the fight to have...I got a lot of love and respect for Lovie as a Bears fan....And so did Cutler and the boys...They looked up to Lovie...He was the ultimate players coach....

Shit didn't work out...Dude got an unfair shake there...But whoever said the NFL is fair?

As for your Cutler bashing, let's slow down on that...My QB was clutch last night against one of the best teams in the league...He's def. improved...

Let this one go....Lovie will improve the Bucs...But they need A LOT of help on O...

Let this one go, homie...Bears fans are not even thinking on your agenda...At all...

B. Marshall is a BEAST....That one-handed catch was on some deity shit. Still this doesn't take away from Cutler's 3 other TD's ...dude was focused as our running game struggled that entire game...Cutler was throwing that ball in the end-zone and kept our team's confidence up when we were down 17...

We wish Lovie the best....I'm cheering for the black man and all that....

But I also understand that this is the NFL...And the NFL is dirty business....

franchise records in total offense?

that one?

look you won't find too many bears fans who are like fuck love
def not me
he was a great coach and i hated to see him go

but we gave him plenty of time to get this shit right on offense and he just didn't
the 2012 was just the straw that broke the camels back

now in 5 years if trestman has the same problem
where our offense is still productive but our defense doesn't improve

and we miss the playoffs consistently
then he gotta go too

8 opportunities in the RZ and we settle for FG's and only come away with 17pts.

Good grief @ "he's not aggressive."

Cutler throws the ball near Brandon Marshall. Brandon
Marshall does the rest.

Hold on, Wilson is "low talent"????

If Wilson was on the Bucs they would be 2-0. He is arguably the best young QB in the league.

That said, blaming Lovie for the Bears QB's is a bit like blaming Obama for America's involvement in foreign conflicts.

Seattle didn't spend a lot of money on their
QB

That's the point

They saved their money

And as good as he is, the defense won that championship

Why? Because defenses win championships

Lovie figured he's save on QB until he finds one he
really likes...its a good strategy

Most of y'all wanted him to take Manziel, who is worse
than what they have now

In response to Reply # 0

How long has Urlacher been out? Is this his 2nd year?

***

http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bucs/urlacher-to-bucs-not-this-week-but-not-off-the-radar/2197929

Former Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher resigned his job as a broadcaster job at Fox Sports 1 Tuesday and the Bucs have an injury to starting middle linebacker Mason Foster.

Will Urlacher be reunited with Lovie Smith in Tampa Bay?

Not this week, at least.

The Bucs plan to go with backup middle linebacker Dane Fletcher in Thursday night's game at Atlanta. Fletcher had two tackles and a forced fumble in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the St. Louis Rams.

There's no word on how long Foster will need to recover from a separated shoulder. But if the injury keeps him out long-term, or if Fletcher doesn't play well or becomes injured, it's possible the Bucs could reach out to Urlacher to gauge his interest in resuming his playing career. There has been no contact at this time.

Urlacher said he resigned his job at Fox Sports 1 to spend more time with his family.

But Urlacher's history with Smith is well-documented. And if he wants to reaume his career, it's not farfetched Tampa Bay could be an eventual landing spot.

No one loses a single cornerback and goes from "loaded with talent" to bottom of the barrel as a result. Especially when they take a 6 time Pro Bowler from that CB's new team. Doubly especially when they still have one of the ~3 best safety duos in football.

And i have no idea who you are talking about as their 2nd best player last year? McCoy? Because they added new talent to the DL from last year as well. The best DE on the team was in Cincinnati last year. McCoy is important because David needs to be kept somewhat clean, but he aint 42-offensive-points-important

I cant tell if you're copping pleas for Lovie or yourself

If any of the Florida teams draft Jameis Winston they might as well just set that signing bonus on fire. I dont think he is a "bad" kid...but he needs a change of scenery at the next level.

After THREE games he's a mediocre coach? Especially when he's trying to clean up the dumpster fire that Shiano and the front office left? Word?

He fucked up on McCown, point blank. But let's not act like his best RB isn't hurt (per usual), and his best WR is slow (per usual). Evans is a rookie WR starting in his second game

I WISH Shiano didn't fuck up Freeman's career the way he did. That way at least Lovie would have a halfway decent QB to start his tenure with.

Cats is shitting on Lovie ALREADY. And for some Bears fans that shit on him and are praising Trestman, at least have him make the post-season before you start comparing his successes to Lovie's failures.

Give the dude time to fix the squad. TB got their asses WHIPPED on Thursday, but one ass whipping does not a career or a season make.

I was optimistic heading into this season.

But to have two games like in a few weeks...I will be very surprised if this works out past next year

I guess he's still got time to turn it around, but I'll be surprised if he survives this season at this rate. These are some truly embarrassing losses. I hope he gets it turned around, but I have my doubts.

Thing is, no one really had high expectations for this team this year. But, no one expected they'd be this embarrassingly bad. I mean, they're flat out awful. It's not like they are devoid of talent either. They got some players, they just don't play well together at all.

That's true.

Lovie Smith has done a good job with Tampa (a noticeably more talented team than the Titans) this year. That's also true.

forget about the fact that they got hosed by the titans in the 1st game of the regular season. this dude sat on a 24 pt lead in a game against the WORST team in the league. they lost because lovie is horrible @ managing games or making halftime adjustments.

giving up 31 pts to that team in washington guarantees that no matter how much improvement my beloved bucs show this season, lovie smith is not COY by any standards.

rivera and arians are clearly the front runners for COY, but lewis or tomlin would easily get the nod before lovie at this point.

He thought Mariota would be better than Winston, I disagreed.

was originally going to be playoffs but changed it to if one of the teams goes 8-8 the other pays. I've got a good chance of winning. If neither team makes it nobody pays so I'm in good shape either way.
