He has an above average PG, an all-start talent 2 guard, an above average SF, an average center to go along with a quality bench & an elite coach......so Dirk what is your excuse? Dude has already been given a pass for being a mediocre defender & underachieving for the most part of his career.

His peers (Kobe & Tim) made NBA 1st teams past 35 when folks have been saying Dirk's game will deteriorate the least because his game doesn't depend on athleticism & he never played D in the first place. Dude can't even carry Larry's jockstraps.

WHAT'S GOOD *****? What's REALLY good?!?!????!!! Ha HA!

Dude is in-shape & injury free but seems like he is mentally checked-out.

I'm sure there's lots of 40, 50, hell 60 year old former players out there who can still shoot. Does that mean their games aren't affected by aging?

that's when the reflexes start to decline. Kareem was plenty healthy and cooking cats, Mailman was plenty healthy and cooking cats, Stockton was plenty healthy & cooking cats......& all of them actually played D. Meanwhile Dirk hits 33 & calls it a "No Mas".

Stockton averaged 12 & 8 at 35, he was basically Jose Calderon at that point. but apparently you think Calderon's a stud so maybe that's why you're confused here.

lol...Everyone well knows that Stockton wasn't a volume nor stat guy....he was as efficient as they came & controlled the tempo like no other. (Same goes for J.Kidd) He also played against Cheese-Eyes who suffered no maladies such as a Finals induced coma like Bron.

p.s. Dirk barely squeaked past 38 year old John Stockton & 37 year old Malone while playing 3rd wheel to Nash & Finley along w/ Juwan Howard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0bqt30Dmok

Besides, Timmay & KG were giving the Heat all they could handle past 35 while Dirk was gone fishing.

FOH w/ Malone leading anyone to anything.....dude was a bonafide choker who disappear when it mattered. Stockton was the heart & soul of that team hands down: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhDi0Ce_Z5w

Oh so now you're bringing age into the equation......so lets look at what his contemporary accomplished by the time they were 22 (I'm only going to limit it to his contemporaries just to save you some embarrassment):

-Tim whooped Shaq & was Finals MVP at 22
-Bron took a dump on the whole league except the Spurs at 22
-Bean took a dump on the whole league TWICE by 22
-Shaq took a dump on the whole league except the Rockets at 22...(yeah he lead his team to victory over MJ's Bulls)
-KG was putting up 22/12 against GOAT PF & All-Star Admiral while carrying a bunch of no names on his back at 22

Meanwhile Dirk is hiding behind Finley skirt.....excuses, excuses, excuses

>Elmo & Studio Thug LOST to the Heat! Dirk WON!
Studio Thug run bath-salts Bron out of Cleveland, Elmo broomed BATH-SALTs Bron on national TV. Dirk can only claim to have been part of a team that defeated the shell of bath-salt Bron. Actually, Wade outplayed Dirk for the whole series but a Jerry West wasn't there to hand him the MVP trophy.

>The fuck is wrong with you?
Dirk gets no respect for being a pussy competitor. There is no way Marc Cuban would have broken that team if he thought Dirk could lead a team to promise-land. Instead he went looking for an alpha dog to do that job. I bet Dirk is content being stuck in mediocrity since he wants no part of a thing called EXPECTATIONS. Every time anything has been expected from him he has completely failed. His lone so called success came as an underdog in the form of a rented chip that was gift wrapped by Bron.

Dirk led Dallas in scoring along with Finley while being more efficient, and with the Mavs down 0-2 facing elimination Finley nutted up scoring 8 pts while Dirk carried Dallas with 33/10 saving the series. you're making absolutely no sense at all.

Dirk was putting up those numbers while playing SMALL FORWARD & being checked by Donyell Marshall.....Finley was the main focus of the defense thus Dirk was free to do whatever he wished while being single covered by a 6'9"& was the MAIN beneficiary of Nash's dime as the trailer during the Nellie Ball era while jacking up 3s. Not to mention it was Juwan Howard checking Malone on the other end.
I vividly remember this play from that series>>Dirk being useful guarding Marshall & corralling rebounds while everyone else does their job & blocks out:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nhb3oeEOQ6I&feature=player_detailpage#t=63 (god bless your soul Shawn Bradley)

You mean after Dirk wet the bed in the first 2 games & put them in a hole while being single covered by Marshall & not playing any D whatsoever even by his standards. I WATCHED that series, "http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores" doesn't tell the whole story so miss me w/ that bullshyt. Dirk was nothing more that a trigger happy 7footer at that time.

>Bath-salts? LOL. Bron QUIT against the Cs in Cleveland on

He understandably gave-up when Mr.1st time All-Star Mo Williams along w/ the rest of his supporting QUIT after losing a close game. It wasn't like he went into a coma while Wade was by his side OUTPLAYING the dude who was handed the Finals MVP.

It's nut-huggers like you who are quick to defend anything Dirk that keep me going. I don't have a soft spot for Bron or the "Heatles" but Dirk's rental chip is more memorable for Bron's disappearance than Dirk winning a chip. I will give him high marks for schooling studio-thug-in-training Ibaka & soft ass Pau during that run....oh, thanks for brooming Bean.
Until he makes a serious run before it's all said & done, the gift wrapped chip doesn't hold much weight considering Bron never showed-up. It would be basically like Tim's only chip being sweeping 22 year old Bron.....I just can't.

Finley was the veteran on that team & was supposed to take the lead so what's your point? And Donyell has like a 7'2" wingspan making him a disruptive defender for even taller opponents so again your point is? and if Dirk's first playoff series - which Dallas won & Dirk led the team in scoring - is your biggest criticism then you're not really saying much of anything, especially when Finley was at his peak as a player and Dirk only got better. here's their combined playoff stats as teammates in Dallas:

Finley: 18/5/3 52% TS%
Dirk: 25/11/2 56% TS%

Dirk better.

>You mean after Dirk wet the bed in the first 2 games & put

>Karl's team. cry.
The Jazz were Karl's team as much as the Suns were Amare's team. Stockton spoon fed Karl into scoring buckets such as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hqxrrv1eg2Q (Karl got swept in 5 games while playing w/ 3 HOFers in 2004. Dude is a born loser.)

>Finley was the veteran on that team & was supposed to take the
>lead so what's your point?
My point is that Dirk was the 3rd wheel & you haven't proven me wrong.

>And Donyell has like a 7'2"
>wingspan making him a disruptive defender for even taller
>opponents so again your point is?
Donyell Marshall has never been accused of playing good D in his life, like EVER.

>and if Dirk's first playoff
>series - which Dallas won & Dirk led the team in scoring - is
>your biggest criticism then you're not really saying much of
>anything, especially when Finley was at his peak as a player
>and Dirk only got better. here's their combined playoff stats
>as teammates in Dallas:
Oh so, now you're twisting this into a Dirk vs. Fin Dawg debate. Finley's name came up b/c you claimed that Dirk led the Mavs past the Jazz in 2001. The 2001 Jazz came up b/c Karl/Stockton were both 37 and gave the a team that had the great Dirk as the 3rd option all they could handle..... but Dirk can't even win a single post-season game past 33 & y'all copping pleas based on his age. I actually mentioned all of the points stated above in the earlier threads but you seem to have amnesia when it comes to facts that don't glorify Dirk.

>Finley: 18/5/3 52% TS%
>Dirk: 25/11/2 56% TS%
-Finley was 1000000000x better defender than Dirk but advanced stat whore just don't understand
-Finley was also a better play-maker & no doubt a better leader
-lol @ bring up the rebound numbers....I already addressed that issue.
-You do understand Cuban punted Fin Dawg after he got injured playing excessive minutes (ala Deng) & was never the same player thus his stats suffered.

>Dirk better.
OMG.......Dirk is better than Fin Dawg....who actually won a chip the same year Dirk made the most disgraceful MVP acceptance speech ever in NBA history.

>nah they just sucked & Bron just quit.
You can't quit something you never started plus where is the glory in beating a team that you claim sucked?

>he showed up OUTMATCHED & played poorly.
Yep, Dirk's teammates OUTMATCHED Wade's teammates, that sounds about right.

>nobody was talking about Dirk until you came out of the blue
>with this dumb shit so FOH
A mark of a nut-hugger is a cat who goes on the defensive w/o any logic when something near & dear to them gets criticized.

>tell the truth - Dirk made a German sheisse video with your
>mom that's making the rounds on the internets right? only
>explanation for the depths of mad that you've plumbed here.
Repeat that after you spit Dirk's nut out your mouth. Otherwise, take your L & peace out into the abysses until Dirk clinches a post-season berth.

At that time, Finley was undoubtedly the leader & go-to-guy while Nash had the ball in his hands most of the game. Dirk used play small forward & shoot a lot of 3s during the Nellie era and was the beneficiary of most Nash's dimes as the tailor. Dirk is a natural scorer so he is going to get his in some fashion but he was the 3rd wheel during that period.

He's just collecting checks & padding career total numbers at this point. No more competitive fucks can be given at this point & not even Mavs fans seem to be mad.

Tim was still that dude till '08. Top5 won the Finals MVP in '07 by default after Mike Brown decided to double Tim after he eviscerated Big Z & Gooden in Gm.1 when they single covered him. It worked b/c the Spurs perimeter players couldn't hit a shot to save their life. Meanwhile Top5 was match-up against slow footed mofos Eric Muphukin Snow & Boobi Gibson who he blew past at will. Pop decided to hand the keys to Tony after they lost to the Lakers in '08 & felt like they had a better chance beating the Lakers by attacking Fisher than duo of Gasol/Bynum.

Besides being MIA until the last 2 minutes, Tony wasn't putting up gaudy numbers besides Gm 1/5. Tim meanwhile was consistent in the wins & was no doubt the sentimental choice after his first half performance.

Besides, Danny Green might have won it if he didn't turn Milk Carton status. There was also talks of Kawhi before bath-salt Bron happened.

so what you're saying is that Tim stopped being that dude after '08 when he turned 32?

and you're mad at Dirk for not still being that dude at 35 for why?

Yeah, Tim stopped being that dude to the tune of still being selected to All-NBA teams annually. Not to mention he was playing on one knee for a good chunk of the time after '08.

>and you're mad at Dirk for not still being that dude at 35 for
>why?
He doesn't have to be that dude just a semblance of his former self....at least make All-NBA 3rd team. He looks healthy so I'm not sure what his excuse is for his lackluster performances.

Y'all acting like he was sonning Bron on both ends of the floor like Dream molested Admiral in 95 on BOTH ENDS OF THE FLOOR. I'm more impressed by Paul Pierce's WELL ROUNDED performance against the great Bean Bryant on BOTH ENDS of the floor. Dirk was nothing more than a one way player that happened to be the go-to-guy for a team that won games on the defensive end of the floor. Shyt, even Chauncey was a facilitator & also factor on the defensive end while playing the same role as Dirk.

Let's not forget the Heat were taken to the limit by the aging Celtics in 2012 & pulled a houdini against another aging team in 2013. The Heatlets are basically the Houston Rockets of the 2k generation not the Bulls.

Dirk, We don't believe you, you need more ppl

Shyt, Barea, Deshawn & Peja played out of their minds at times. Everything clicked for that team at the right time. That was a veteran TEAM that had been through wars before & rose up to the moment. Y'all make it seem like Dirk carried a bunch of bums like Dream in 94 or Tim in '03. Nor was he a factor on the defensive end. which was actually the FORTE of that team.

I'll take both Malone's over Dirk.

Dirk won a single, solitary title and then packed it in on his career according to the consensus here.

Dirk would have won a 2nd chip if Wade was in a Bron like coma in '06.

-1 being "pretty fucking pissed", 500 being suicidal, 750 being homicidal, and 1000 being genocidal.

-Using this doll, show us where Dirk fucked you in the ass. We say that because mere fondling doesn't elicit such an extreme PTSD episode. This is clearly a case of penetration with strong implications that it was accompanied by slapping, choking and spitting that ends in an ATM scene that isn't for the faint of heart, quite possibly taking place on a pool table or pinball machine at a busy small town bar in Texas after a high school football game.

-Did Dirk steal your girl? Was that Nubian Queen once yours? Or are you just mad that a fugly ass Kraut pulled the sort of sister who laughs at your advances?

Basically, your post is a screaming invitation for every cliched, contrived "you mad, doggy?" response imaginable.

Dirk's title team was a great team. Sorry, not buying the idea that he dragged a bunch of bums to the Finals.

Were they an assortment of all-stars? No. But they were deep, veteran and extremely well assembled.

Why is it not okay to question how Dirk has played (or not played) since then, and how his career is winding down? We did it to Shaq and he is one of the best basketball players ever.

Kevin had the benefit of a hungry ass Paul Pierce and Ray Allen going supernova on their prime while Dirk was on a chain gang with a few cadavers.

That particular discussion aside, you're right in terms of the bottom line: Dirk got himself a nice lil collection of hardware that validated a damn fine career.

In response to Reply # 47
Sun Nov-10-13 01:53 AM by FILF

Throughout his career Dirk played w/ multiple All-stars, a DOPY, multiple 6th men & a 2x MVP/1st ballot HOFer ......& all he has to show for it is ONE chip that his team rented when West was changing guards & while Bron was still in a Finals induced coma.

KG's prime was wasted playing w/ a bunch of no names, some of which he turned into all-stars. He finally got a chance to play w/ 2 cats that had any semblance of being boarder-line all-stars & almost went to the finals playing like a true MVP. He was finally able to along side legit all-stars (just like Dirk had throughout his career) & delivered a chip while playing BOTH SIDES of the court at an elite level. He went through bath-salts Bron (not in a coma), ended Sheed's career & anchored a defense that made the all mighty MVP Kobe quit.

-KG is a superior passer & leader
-Dirk is a better scorer but not by much
-Let's not even discuss defense (50% of the game)

Among his peers this is how he SHOULD be ranked:

Elite two way players:
-There is Tim
& then
-There is KG

Elite one way players:
-There is Dirk/C-Webb

Best of the rest:
-There is Rasheed/Pau

i mean KG had Starberry and Googs early on in his career

then he had Spreewell

then to Beantown with Ray and Pierce

and now with the nets with Paul, Williams and Lopez

point being he is playing in ready for made teams

whereas Dirk ain't never left Dallas and history is going to smile bigger on him.

i mean 15 years ago if you told somebody that Dirk was going to have a better career than Tractor trailer then nobody would have believed you.

Dirk still a threat.

one side or not his Jewelry and runner up resume is the same as Kevin Garnett's and also he has done it all for one team.

yeah Sheed should have had a incredible career however it wasn't meant to be.

and as a Heat fan I like to forget the way the Heat lost to the Mavs in the finals however, i gotta give Dirk his due.

He came up big when he had to period.

put it like this Tyson Chandler and Jason Terry ain't exactly burning up the league post Dirk and Jason kidd was shot last year with the knicks.

bottom line says Dirk is right there with KG and maybe even better when its all said and done.

KG been on that Payton Manning tip as a player with his numbers however he ain't done anymore than Dirk when it counts.

now its close between these two cats. both League MVPS and Both got RIngs and respect for what they have accomplished in there careers.

Besides the Lakers team that had 4 HOFers....KG won the MVP during the period when the Kings were still relevant on top of the Spurs & the Mavs.

Dirk's team got bounced in the 1st round of his MVP year by a team that Carlos muphukin' Boozer manhandled because Dirk himself played like shyt. He also got outplayed by Shimmy Walker in '06 Finals for a couple of games & provided no resistance when Wade drove into the paint.

Plus, the only missing ingredient in the 2012 squad was Tyson Chandler. If Dirk was so great then they should at least not get SWEPT in the 1st round.

Finally, KG is DONE.....dude has been playing in the league for close to 20 year, this is the end of his chapter. He gave Heats all they could handle in 2012 but that was his last hooray.

Dirk came into the league as a soft bitch & will go out as a soft bitch w/ a rental chip.

KG came into the league as a The Kid & will walk out as a man.

Casell the so called old dude was clutch for the celtics in 08 on the same team as KG hmmmmmmmmmmmm??

Sam I am won a chip with that celtics team am I correct sir?

Dirk got traded for Tractor Trailer and back then then Dirk was a laughing stock, now fast forward to now Dirk got the last laugh ten fold pretty much.

nobody in the 4 is seeing Timmy D period.however acting like Dirk and KG don't cancel each other is selling Dirk way short.

no matter how you dress and slice it 1 chip, 1 runner up, league MVP.

First of all, Dirk played w/ Finely & Nash when they were both all-stars (plus Juwan Howard).....and that wasn't enough for Dirk.

Then Cuban added Nick the Quick, Shimmy Walker, JET, Antawn Jamison, Stackhouse....that still wasn't enough for Dirk until Tyson, Matrix & Kidd came along.

The best supporting cast KG got was was the addition of two solid cats that he turned into all-stars. (Spree was far removed from being an all-star, Cassell had never made it)

Lets not forget the rest of KG's legacy:
-Troy Hudson letting his nuts hang & playing like an all-star
-the Billups resurrection
-Wally's wack ass becoming an All-star all while playing w/ KG.

Meanwhile LaFrentz/Bradley turned into a bums, Shimmy Walker fell off & Finely got cut all while playing w/ Dirk. Oh yeah, Nash won MVPs only after he left for good.

Right about now Josh Howard is rolling over in his grave for not
having been drafted by the Spurs:http://www.poundingtherock.com/2013/10/25/5028840/spurs-sign-josh-howard

As far as draft night is concerned....dude was a lotto pick & was picked before Pierce. Not to mention that he has had multiple max contracts which he failed to live up to on numerous occasions.

and he beat my team and yet i gotta defend Dirk.

Michael Finley is one of those cats who had alot of upside and never got his groove together on a whole.

Nash was like the shorter older Brother to Dirk and he went to the suns with a better cast of talent around him and he still never went as far as Dirk did.

Matrix was always at best a very good side piece.

Tyson never been used all the way right however he fit in dallas nicely.

KG always measured himself up against Duncan and got his lunch handed back to him.

and he also when its all said and done didn't do anything more than Dirk.

you see the thing is this cats including Shaq were saying that Dirk was an all time great back in the 06 finals. Dirk had that repect as much as KG period.

and you gotta know as a Heat fan i got a Homie who never shuts up about Dallas beating the Heat for that chip and i know how Badd Dirk is.

truth is Dirk looks like he can play a few more years. KG been on cruise control since 2011.

Casell's might have only averaged 4 points, however he paced things off the bench for the celtics especially in game 1 and 2 in that finals.

he played his role and nicely i might add.

i still say KG keeps getting a better cast.

having Starberry, ROndo and Derion Williams as PG's ain't bad look.

Googs,Pierce and Lopez more all stars.

Dirk didn't have the Steve Nash that later became Steve Nash let alone an aging Jason Kidd.

we could debate all day and still side with whom you want period. its close however Dirk to me has done a bit more and to me more people are gonna feel Dirk in this race because he was clutch over time.

now don't get me wrong on a stat perspective KG was doing things, however he never was clutch as much as Dirk.

They are both in the same category.

Great players who had the talent to sit at the REAL big boy table but didn't measure up.

They still made the HOF and got their little one ring and apparently that's good enough for Dirk cuz he has not even tried since then. Pathetic if you ask me but also I'm glad he doesn't have Tim's drive and integrity.

Because then we might have to have a discussion about who was better.

one ring is really all we ever asked a Superstar to get. i mean put it like this Oscar Robertson's one Ring can hang at a whole lot of tables.

Dirk is no Big O, what I'm saying is one ring is special period.

Dirk has gone to two finals with different coaches and can you imagine if he had a Popvich type of coach throughout his whole career?

naw he ain't in Duncan's territory however Dirk is one of the Greatest ever and where you rank him is up to you.

bottom line once you win you never have to answer again.
he got his Jewlery, league MVP got numbers what else is there really after that?

Consistent effort? Will to win? Integrity? Pride?

In other words, the things that separate Tim from Dirk.

Pop never won shyt pre-Timmay. When Timmay fell off b/c of his knee the Spurs got swept by the Suns......the same Suns that the Spurs used to torment w/ a healthy Tim.

If you're trying to state that Dirk could flourish play alongside Tim then there is no question about that one. Otherwise, the Spurs championship defense was predicted on funneling cats toward Tim (& Admiral) while preventing the middle of the floor & corner 3s.

-To prevent middle the big men need to step out & hedge constantly or check the guards during a PnR. Last I checked Dirk hasn't been know for his ability to stay w/ guards nor read offensive sets.

-In addition, once you funnel the opponent towards the basket you have to challenge their shots....which is something Dirk is incapable of doing b/c he lacks the natural instinct/timing.

No Defense, No Parades at the Alamo.

EDIT: KG on the other hand would have fit in like a glove.

It amazes me how folks underrate KG's offensive arsenal. He had everything that Dirk had & then more .....of course Dirk is a better shooter & had more range. KG had the same mentality as Bron in that he tried to make the right play instead of calling his number. Besides, KG was the only consist scorer on the 2008 Celtics, Pierce & Ray Ray were wetting the bed every other game. He basically ended Sheed's career after he abused him on BOTH ends of the floor when they beat the Pistons.

EDIT:If you don't believe me just checkout what KG did to C-Webb in 2004 & you will understand.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1VtZht_8t4) He was carrying the team on BOTH ends of the floor. Not standing around & corralling rebounds.

Dirk was the best player on his team.

KG being a better scorer in Minny means nothing here. He still wasn't better than Dirk at scoring.

Bottom line dirk was far more valuable to his Finals team than KG.

And I'll say it again, KG will be remembered as the better player.

If you want to pick on KG's short comings while playing w/ a mediocre supporting cast then Dirk has plenty while playing w/ a far better squad.

KG is not miles better than Dirk, his chip isn't any more or less legit than Dirk's, and he wasn't better in the Finals than Dirk.

At the end of the day they are both 1st ballot HOF and KG will be remembered as better in large part due to his defense and fake 'tensity.

Yeah, I can't ride with this. KG spent most of his career hiding when his team needed him on offense at crunchtime.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

All things considered, they are dead even in their bitchassery. And if I was making a team I'd probably rather have Dirk because KG is a corny, fake fuck.

Often times KG was understandably gassed at the end of games b/c he HAD TO GO ALL OUT on BOTH ENDS of the floor for his team to have a chance. If he had the luxury of coasting on D, then things would have been different but alas. In his MVP year he showed everyone what he's made of even w/ a hobbled Cassell & past prime Spree playing wing-man. I don't care much for KG's antics but I rather see that than someone coasting.

It was actually Sheed & to a certain extent C-Webb that spent most of their careers hiding when their team needed them on offense during crunch time.

have to hide him. KG won DPOY for a reason, he changed the culture of that entire team. Dirk needed Tyson to do that for him.

There's not a GM, coach, or player in the league that would take Dirk on their team over KG.

his career is pretty much cemented unless he has another deep run in him(which with that team, he won't.)

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

which is weird because why should duncan fans be insecure about anything?

he is bringing up like bird (clearly much better than dirk) and KG (different style of player but generally considered a little better) but this is more about duncan and hating on the texas two-step of dallas and houston, i think.

If anything I've had to defend Studio Thug throughout this poAst since cats seem to be acting like KG is Chris Bosh status. The way I see it is that Dirk is basically Dominique (all about the buckets & will torch anyone when he gets in the zone plus corralled rebounds b/c of the position he played but that was about it) while KG is Pippen circa '93-'94 (fundamentally sound in every facet of the game thus can perform at an elite level at both ends of the court & always tries to make the right play rather than call his number plus was a glue guy).

It really is...

who else does this apply to? Just anyone who won a ring ever cannot be questioned for all time?

Everyone in here is openly saying Dirk checked out mentally and doesn't give a fuck despite being perfectly healthy but that's fine and normal because he won a ring.

I assume this applies to everyone, not just Dirk? Win a ring and anything that happens afterwards is irrelevant?

In response to Reply # 146
Sun Apr-13-14 04:30 PM by FILF

*Golf Clap* for overcoming the mighty Suns who run out of gas in the 2nd half of a back-to-back while Dragic was playing on a bum ankle & squeaking into the last spot.......Monta was doing everything he can to keep them in the game meanwhile Dirk had 2 pt in the first half & was getting torched by the great Channing Frye on the other end. They started helping off Dirk to blitz Monta & that's when he made a couple of WIDE open 3s b/c the Suns have a bunch of wet-behind-the-ears players that miss rotations. Carlise also had enough of Dirk's infamous D & switched Brandon Wright onto Frye which made life difficult on the Suns on the offensive end.

So I guess the narrative will be Dirk CARRIES the Mavs into the post-season while squeaking past teams that were decimated by injuries or were inferior in the first place. Plus, Monta never happened & Dirk played his usual SOLID team defense. Funy how Dirk needed lighting to strike twice just to squeak into the post-season. Everything that could happen to help their cause & was out of their control simply went their way. Shades of 2011 post season but alas their reward was the last spot of the playoff seeding this time.

After Bledsoe/Marc Gasol got hurt along w/ the Nuggets being decimated by injures I hedged my agenda by stating I want a Mavs-Spurs 1st rd series. That way the Spurs won't have to travel out of state & Pop won't have to play the starters more than 20 minutes. If the Mavs end up playing OKC & making it a long series or even upsetting them then I might have to send Monta a gift bag b/c the Spurs are going to cake walk into the Finals & win it all.

All I do is win-win no matter the outcome.
-Mavs season will be cut short if they face the Spurs
-The Mavs are going to go as far as Monta takes 'em
-Dirk can't complain about not have enough help
-If the Mavs make same noise in the post-season, it will be at the cost of OKC (the Spurs nemesis)

It took 81st game & every possible break a team can get in the western conference for it to happen against a team that was supposed to be in the lotto. 81st game in one of the most stacked conferences ever? The Suns will go down as one of the best teams EVER to not make the playoffs statistically...

Monta had a good year, was a good robin to his batman, God Forbid Dirk has another scorer on his team! Monta had plenty of games this year where he disappeared including that thursday night prime time win vs the Clippers in LA last Thursday when he shit the bed in a must win... Dirk had 26 and 11, Monta shot 4-12

>81st game in one of the most stacked conferences ever?
Dragic is a better leader than Dirk...he makes is teammates better meanwhile Dirk is cut from the same stone as K-Love, he just gets his & takes a nap on defense. Not to mention the amount of blow leads they suffered while Dirk disappears in the 4th & gets picked on the other side.

>The
>Suns will go down as one of the best teams EVER to not make
>the playoffs statistically...
That's b/c the bottom dwellers of the western conf. & eastern conf. have been absolutely garbage.

>Monta had a good year, was a good robin to his batman, God
>Forbid Dirk has another scorer on his team!
Dragic was playing w/ Gerald Green as his batman & Plumlee was their starting center. Both those guys were rotting on the Pacers bench last season. Had Bledsoe not missed a good chunk of the season Dirk would have been arranging a fishing trip.

>Monta had plenty
>of games this year where he disappeared including that
>thursday night prime time win vs the Clippers in LA last
>Thursday when he shit the bed in a must win... Dirk had 26 and
>11, Monta shot 4-12
Vince was the best player on the court before dumb ass Carlise took him out for Dirk & that's when the Clips made that 4th quarter run. Dirk was getting abused by Blake in the 4th quarter & ended up traveling when he got trapped w/ ~20 sec left in a 3 pt game.....but of course the refs blew the whistle & sent him to the line. Besides, Monta was tearing up the Clips in the 1st half.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

I made the post before the season started & the agenda was that if Dirk is so great then he should have at least won a SINGLE post-season GAME since 2011. Basically his 2011 run is glorified & he NEEDS teammates to make him look good & not the other way around ....thus should never ever be compared to the likes of Larry Legend.

It was an open ended question but the post ended up being a litter of threads copping pleas on Dirk's behalf. Besides Dirk finals performance as a DH was no better than Bullips & Pierce if you take into consideration their all around game & leadership qualities. But yet Dirk is glorified while Billups/Pierce are just a run-of-the-mill all-stars. For once & for all, cats need to stop citing 2011 as their sole argument for Dirk being better than KG & expect it to hold water b/c it is littered w/ holes.

WHAT'S GOOD *****? What's REALLY good?!?!????!!! Ha HA!

it def puts a cherry on top of an already great career... which it did for Dirk, and at his age, coming off some injury issues, he deserves props for the year he just had and getting Dallas into the playoffs in a stacked year... lol at the argument being they added Monta Ellis, sorry they gave him a good player, a player who was on one of the worst teams in the league last season, after they missed on deron and dwight
