"NFL may consider negating touchdowns for taunting penalties (swipe)"

are you fucking kidding me?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/30/nfl-may-consider-negating-touchdowns-for-taunting-penalties/

When Seahawks receiver Golden Tate began waving at Rams safety Rodney McLeod at the 25-yard line on Tates way to an 80-yard touchdown, the official threw the flag before Tate had even crossed the goal line. But even though Tate committed a penalty before he scored, the touchdown still counted.

Next season, a player who does the same thing may negate his own touchdown.

NFL head of officiating Dean Blandino said on NFL Network that he thinks the Competition Committee will explore changing the NFLs taunting rules to make them more similar to the taunting rules in the NCAA. In college football, if a player commits a taunting penalty on a touchdown, the touchdown is called back and the 15-yard penalty is enforced from the spot where the taunting began.

A lot of people felt that the touchdown shouldnt have counted a taunting foul is always treated as a dead-ball foul, meaning whatever happened during the play counts, and the foul is enforced on the next play, which would be the kickoff, Blandino said. In college, this action would take back the touchdown. Tate started taunting at the 25-yard line. The college rule, thats enforced at the spot of the foul, so theyd go from a touchdown to first-and-10 at the 40, which would be a gigantic penalty. The NFL rule, its a dead-ball foul, its enforced on the kickoff. But Im sure thats something that the Competition Committee will look at in the offseason.

Taking away a touchdown for taunting seems awfully harsh. Then again, theres a simple way to avoid that happening: Dont taunt.

couldn't happen under today's stifling rules

seeing Deion high step down the field and hold the ball up was a great moment

seeing coordinated team celebrations, while corny, was still a nice moment.
(for the life of me, I can't understand the reasoning behind banning
team celebrations in a team sport yet allowing individual celebrations?)

Tony Kornheiser was actually on ESPN complaining about
"aggressive" and "angry" celebrations. lol

Have a team of hybrid officials/stenographers with baby monitors to record everything.

We already know, based on what Steve Smith said, that Janoris Jenkins and the Rams secondary are some bitch-ass marks when it comes to getting personal with trash-talk...if you noticed, Tate didn't only waive at dude but the last 15 yards he was making the 'talk' signal with his hand....only leads me to believe that the secondary was talking unneccessary shit again, and thus deserved to be clowned at every chance.

only person that looked stupid the other night was Tate, who nearly ran out of bounds, got a sit-down from daddy Carroll and the side-eye from half his teammates.

taunting is not a problem. asking officials to negate scoring plays based on what they perceive as taunting would be a problem.

there are a lot of dead ball penalties that shouldn't happen. doesn't mean they negate SCORING. fuck that bullshit. keep it the same penalties as they do now.

motherfucking NFL needs to stop worrying about silly shit and maybe not have a game on EVERY NIGHT.
