You can only give each of them 1 ring w/o Jordan except Hakeem
Aug 16th 2013
2
Malone actually faced him twice
Aug 16th 2013
25
malone is the easy answer imo but Ewing is close.
Aug 16th 2013
3
I kinda think Ewing too
Aug 16th 2013
6
Gotta say Malone, because he lost to Jordan twice in the Finals.

seems like we can all agree it's Ewing or Malone, BUT
Aug 16th 2013

I'd argue Malone would be getting GOAT PF talks if no Jordan
Aug 16th 2013
27
Another good reason it's probably Malone. If he had a couple chips

Aug 16th 2013

Sure, replace Mike with Iverson, T-Mac or Vince and they still win
Aug 16th 2013

Those guys aren't avg though but even still

Aug 16th 2013
42
lol man that was one time
Aug 16th 2013

Still, Scottie was many things but he never really a go-to scorer
Aug 16th 2013
51
he was 7 at the time, don't bother, he needs Scottie to use vs MJ

Aug 16th 2013

Malone would definitely be ranked above Hakeem
Aug 16th 2013
35
he would, but two rings wouldn't be a given.
Aug 16th 2013

LMAO @ 6 cysed Knicks fans
Aug 17th 2013

Malone. Would be considered the GOAT PF with a ring or two

Those early Trailblazer teams were dope. In a Jordanless world, they may have picked up 2 rings.

I'm pretty sure Stockton & Malone would have a ring too.

Would Payton & Kemp have been able to get 1 in Seattle?

Pippen probably never wins 1

Barkley got to the finals and lost to Jordan once, same with Malone

Ewing maybe has some if the Knicks get out of the east more often without Jordan, but hard to see them winning more than once.

Hakeem is the only one there who won 2 rings even with Jordan, the rest never even had a chance to win more than 1 finals and most of them didn't have to go through Jordan to get to the finals regardless.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

that would likely elevate him to GOAT power forward status. But if Ewing had a couple chips he'd still be behind several centers, even from his own era.

perhaps barkley or a cast of arguable guys.

i loved barkley but malone clearly had a better career and, by a nose, was probably a better player. i would take barkley over garnett and dirk without hesitation.

I agree with this.....

In order....

Malone
Ewing
Barkley
Drexler
Mark Price (don't laugh....The Bulls stopped some really good Cav teams that were stacked...)

(The Dream would not be included as stated...He was going to win regardless)....

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

I'm not sure either of those guys + pip wins a ring in the 90's.

With the way the knicks played (hard fouls, extreme hand checking, double/triple teams, excessive shit talking, etc.) I'm not sure any of those 3 had the pedigree or mental toughness to push any of those Bulls team to a title.

Ivo shot too poor and would have crumbled under those hits the knicks were laying down.

Vince was never the 'takeover a game in pressure situations' type (which that bulls team need consistently) and T-Mac had the talent but I don't think he would have delivered near as often as MJ did either.

They might have made it a few times but winning it...whole different story. I'd concede maybe one of them might have won once but consistently...eh.

They won 55 games during Jordan's hiatus. Give Scottie consistent help and they easily reach the finals.

Scottie was relevant post Jordan... twice. GOAT did him dirty with that crossover but whatever he was still in the conversation on relevant teams.

..pippen was a timid shell of himself when he entered the league.

while i certainly believe he would eventually go on to emerge as a premiere sf, i don't know if that ascension would've reached the hall of fame status he's now known for.

those 1-on-1 battles with jordan completely transformed his game and gave him the confidence to take on anyone in the league.

they had a nice mix with oak and mase up front. malone would not have been intimidated lol. the knicks' backcourts were nothing special. if they had ewing in his prime with spre and houston, eh, maybe, but that wouldn't change because of jordan's absence.

14. "Ewing probably would have 2 rings"
In response to Reply # 0

And he'd have 4 finals trips likely.

I think they would have made it to the finals in 92 but lost to the Blazers. Then got back in 93 and beat Phx due to the prior years experience.

Then I think they get back a third time and beat the Rockets for back to back rings (because they would have experience and know how to put a team away on a championship scale...they blew that series against Hou, the Knicks shoulda won). Orl still beats them the next yr because it's hard as hell to make 4 straight finals appearances (and likely winning would have changed some of those players for the worse). So Dream still gets one ring.

The next season, they probably get revenge on Orl but I think Seattle woulda beat them.

So Ewing woulda went 2-2 in the finals and be lauded because...it's New York.

But I think Malone would have won back to back titles right after that. Beating Miami and Indiana.

In response to Reply # 17

Lost to Houston in the finals in 95.

The one year he lost to Mike was 96 (got swept). And that Orlando team wouldn't have beaten the Knicks in the Conference Finals, or Seattle in the NBA Finals.

From that point on he was in LA and didn't make the Finals until after Mike was retired.

In response to Reply # 32

Unless you're trying to argue that somehow Mike not being in the league elevated the 93 Orlando team from not making the playoffs to winning a chip, or the 97-98 Lakers teams to winning a chip even though they couldn't get out of the West. Mike was already out in 94-95. So the only year Mike stopped Shaq from getting a chip was 96, and my point was just that even that one year was no guarantee for Shaq at all.

I agree, Zeke gets another ring (I think they beat LA to win the '91 title) and 3 in a row but 92?

The KNICKS actually ended Det's season: http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_1992.html

The Pistons got old real fast and a few injuries helped.

even a sweep of the bulls don't give them the Central.

That was a tough series but they lost. I think it was just they time. I was actually kinda sad Det and Bos fell off so fast but them continual long playoff runs take they toll eventually.

That's why I think there's gonna be some slippage for Mia this yr (unless Oden is healthy and serviceable).

They would have beaten the Lakers in convincing fashion. I think the Blazers were the second best team in 92. 93 is an interesting one, but Barkley was possessed and they had some dudes playing above their heads. They didn't have a better team on paper than plenty of other teams though.

Pippen, clearly. Feel prolly.

Hakeem. A big part of his legacy is being the only Jordan-Era star to get a ring. Without Mike, a few other stars from that era get rings...and if Ewing gets two rings, we probably rank him as highly as we rank Hakeem now.

Barkley's legacy probably suffers because he loses the "nobody was winning with Mike around" excuse.

...is that he was ridiculously talented. The cat could do it all. I just don't think he had the intangibles to be a legend without Mike. And I don't mean that he needed Mike's ball skills (of curse, that helped). I just don't think he would have been as good without someone like Mike driving him.

And I *hated* Pippen. Couldn't stand that clown. But his game tight.

There's a reason PJ was drawing up plays for Kukoc at the end of the game.

Scottie is a top-10 talent of his era, and he spent the prime of his career as a sidekick. I think there are legitimite questions as to what he could have done on his own.

For all the talk of Mike making Scottie, it's quite telling that Jordan don not have a winning record in any of the 5 seasons that he played without Scottie. NOT ONE WINNING SEASON.

Reggie Miller had arguably more important moments in MSG than Jordan,Kobe and D Wade put together in that building.

I mean Reggie Miller is the man out.

and last but not least Zeke Isiah THomas I mean no Jordan and he has more rings and lets not forget unlike Jordan, Zeke beat Bird and Magic in their Prime.

Zeke is always the odd man Out iMO
