"THEM SOURCES!! Broussard: Little chance Dwight re-signs with LA"
Thu Jun-27-13 10:35 AM by LBs Finest

RT @Chris_Broussard: Sources: Dwight Howard unlikely to re-sign with the Lakers. Dallas and Houston the favorites. Main issue w/Lakers is Mike D'Antoni's system

RT @Chris_Broussard: Hearing strong that Lakers have little chance. Can't write them off completely, tho, because of D12's notorious indecisiveness.

I think we all know Dwight isn't a big fan of D'antoni or his system...if we are to believe this report it's a very strategic leak by Howard's camp. They're trying force the Lakers hand to fire D'antoni or do a sign & trade with the Clippers or some other team.

Are we really going to choose the coach over the franchise player? When has that ever happened in the history of this league? I could understand if it was Phil we're talking about but MDA? Shit Lionel Hollins is still out there, Jeff Van Gundy, George Karl, Nate McMillan, hell even Doug Collins.

Broussard's write up mentions him not liking playing with Kobe, but that under a different system it might work. So I don't think he or his camp have any problem with saying fuck Kobe. Might actually just dislike Pringles more.

Not to say that Howard outright wants D'Antoni fired, but he doesn't want to play in D'Antoni's system.

http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/9427945/los-angeles-lakers-not-likely-re-sign-dwight-howard-sources-say

There is very little chance of Dwight Howard re-signing with the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, according to sources close to the situation.

Howard is willing to forgo the extra $30 million the Lakers can pay him to play for a coach and in a system he feels will better utilize his skill set, one source said.

The Lakers can offer Howard a five-year, $118 million contract while other teams can pay him only $88 million over four years.

Howard plans to meet with Dallas, Houston and Atlanta before meeting with the Lakers once teams are allowed to contact free agents beginning July 1, a source said. It appears that the teams will visit Howard in Los Angeles.

Howard is notoriously indecisive so the Lakers, while apparently major underdogs, should not be completely eliminated from contention. Before the 2011-2012 season, he repeatedly asked the Orlando Magic to trade him, and then at midseason he opted-in to the final year of his contract to remain in Orlando.

Howard's major problem with the Lakers is the system coach Mike D'Antoni employs. Beyond that, he did not enjoy playing with Kobe Bryant, though he could manage to do so in a different system, a source said. Howard also does not want to be second fiddle to Bryant for several more seasons.

While many believe Houston is the Lakers' stiffest competition, sources say Howard finds Dallas just as appealing, if not more. Assuming the Mavericks are able to clear enough cap space to offer him a maximum-salaried contract, Howard is strongly considering joining Dallas. The Mavericks are trying to shed Shawn Marion's $9 million expiring contract to create the room to sign Howard, according to sources.

Howard likes the idea of being the top superstar of a franchise and with Dirk Nowitzki aging, Dallas would be viewed as Howard's team. Howard also believes the Mavericks can build a championship roster around him with the ample cap space they will have in the summer of 2014.

Some close to Howard believe signing with Houston is his best option. Howard has been in contact with Rockets players James Harden and Chandler Parsons, both of whom are heavily recruiting him.

Howard, however, has concerns about the Rockets' style of play, sources say. While he likes the idea of playing for Coach Kevin McHale, he sees that they play an up-tempo, perimeter-oriented style that does not feature post play.

To get Howard, the Rockets will have to convince him that they will play a style more conducive to his skills.

Atlanta, Howard's home town, is a long shot. As ESPN.com reported two weeks ago, Howard was willing to go to Atlanta with Clippers free agent Chris Paul. But the recent signing of Doc Rivers as the Clippers' head coach has assured that Paul will remain in Los Angeles.

Howard would love to do a sign-and-trade deal that would allow him to play with Paul and the Clippers, but neither he nor the Clippers believe the Lakers will agree to such a move, sources said.

this mufucka swears he's mikan, jabbar, chamberlain and shaq in one.

he can score from one block and might have 3 moves if I'm being generous.

and can't shoot free throws.

so let's cater our top 2 offense to a guy with a limited offensive arsenal whose a liability late in games.

what a dick.

you got the best C in the league and a top pf. Probably the best 1-2 big man punch in the league and you hire d'antoni?

Couple that with the fact that d'antoni is a stubborn idiot that failed in ny...

It's just they're not going to make a big come up like they thought when they traded for Howard. But they did avoid being the Knicks.

This is worst case, but it's the same thing that would have happened if we didn't trade for Dwight. Just replace Dwight with Bynum. MAYBE a 1st round knockout, maybe lottery. Still, basically the same thing.

We don't re sign Bynum, no way.

So now, it's basically the same.

It sucks, but who thought that it was a bad decision to trade for D12? Pringles is the one terrible decision...

I'm not buying the kobe/12 hate that much. Besides kobe on his way out and injured right now. Perfect scenario to transition to 12 era.

Except for the fact that the coach will try to make it the jodie meeks error

Finals appearances:

1940s (1)
1950s (5)
1960s (6)
1970s (3)
1980s (8)
1990s (1)
2000s (4)
2010s (1)

In the title game every decade since the NBA has been a thing.

Players come and go.

The Lakers will be fine.

Y'all thought we were dead after Magic, after Shaq, etc. This is nothing new.

That's okay though.

Just for what it's worth, all that did was prove the Lakers longevity. I guess I should explain that a bit further for the Knicks fan...let's pretend that, like, EVERY DECADE Walt Frazier played for the Knicks. There you go. Does that make it easier to understand?

The Lakers have longevity. The Knicks? Tied to gunning Melo and Amare's knees. Lakers got that flexibility in one year. Knicks?

It came on the heels of the last 3 NBA finals appearance, back-to-back championship run.. The same shit happened when we tried to extend the 2000-2002 run by adding Payton & Malone. We got dusted in the Finals. This year we got dusted in the 1st round..

they took the chance of getting the perceived best center in the league to see if it would work....although it didnt....again..as they've always done the Lakers make the move to try to be great..

but what are they left with..

if Dwight comes back he comes back.....even if he signed he would be the only players along with Nash who would be under contract after next season...

if he leaves in a sign and trade, we get the value of whatever we get back in the sign and trade...that would potentionally make it maybe 3 guys under contract after next season..

If he leaves and we get nothing.....Steve Nash is the only current player under contract after next season....

the last time the Lakers had substantial cap space they signed a REAL best center in the NBA Shaquille O'Neal.....

Either way it goes the Lakers have set themselves up for an amount of cap space that allows them the flexibility...and there are some pretty decent players on the free agent list

http://www.hoopsworld.com/2014-nba-free-agents

unlike other teams who rebuild out of lotter hopes and years of missing players...the Lakers again rebuild like Champs....

bow down to a player that's greater than you....

Come on man
Most people gave the Lakers somewhat of a pass this year because of the amount of injuries...even with that said to say they played this masterfully when the biggest obstacle for the Lakers to resign the best C in the league is the coach they signed a week after they fired another coach for no good reason is crazy

The sad thing is that D12 likes LA, and wants to stay in the area. He doesn't even mind playing with Kobe. The fact that D'Antoni will be his coach is pushing him away. To say that's playing things masterfully is nuts

D'Antoni screwed this team in a way I never thought possible

I think we're in a great position right now, despite all the soothsayers regarding the 2013-14 season. That's pretty much whatever IMO. I can live with that and I can live with the gamble on 2014.

I have great faith that we'll pull this off, and I think we will.

As far as playing this "masterfully"? We'll see what's up with that next July. This could EASILY go south in a bad way. That potential is there. It will have been played masterfully if we retain Dwight and sign Brawn next season, or something along those lines. If and/or until then, it's a crap shoot.

because the major thing is a five year deal instead of a four year deal. in four years, the most likely scenario is his signing a third and final max deal. so he really doesn't lose much. plus there are tax considerations, i dunno about those though.

http://www.lakersnation.com/terrified-petulant-dwight-howard-blaming-fans-for-l-a-departure/2013/06/27/

According to a source close to Howard, DAntoni and the Laker system isnt his biggest concern. Its the fans.

Yes, the fans.

The fans that have refused to blindly accept him as their own. The fans that are looking for more than just a goofy smile and a missed free throw before throwing their devotion in a players corner. The fans who, for better or worse, will remain loyal to their favorite basketball squad. But they do so at a cost.

The expectations in Los Angeles are higher than any other market in the Association. There isnt another city in the union, New York included, that expects more from their NBA team. And this carries with it a two-sided sword. Win in Los Angeles and youre a legend. An undying fixture that will likely be immortalized in bronze outside of the countrys biggest entertainment venue. But fail to meet expectations, or in Dwights case, even get within shouting distance of them, and youll be cast out. A vial of leprosy viewed with disdain and disgust. And thats the thought Dwight Howard cant handle.

According to a source, its this intensity, this inane desire to be the best, that Howard cant live up to.

In conversations with Howard, the big man reportedly called L.A. fans the most unappreciative group of people ever, going on to say that people in Los Angeles are ungrateful.

Pau gets roasted for being soft after three straight trips to the Finals and two titles.

I think Dwight, and people defending him on this particular angle, are a little too sensitive.

It's LA

Everyone gets shit on by the fans to some degree
This ain't some cow town where anyone with a halfway recognizable name gets showered with love and affection regardless of what they do.

>Not a lot that wasn't already known/suspected, but still a
>lot.

It's quite simple....If you are a hardcore Laker fan or amongst the Laker brass then you would gladly run with such a "story" ...U don't want to have egg on your face....So what better way to make yourself feel better than to say: "U couldn't hack it here anyway! U have NO heart....We are glad u r out the door..."

Because this^^^^is better than dealing with the realities of the situation....

The historically GREAT Laker organization is now being ran by a clueless novice...A novice that hired the wrong coach (Diantoni), who went on to mishandle two of the teams best players (Howard and Pau) and ran the face of the franchise into the ground just to chase a 7th/8th seed...Oh yeah, that same face of the franchise (Kobe) happens to be a future hall of famer that is also not the greatest teammate u can have at this stage...

Nah, dog....U don't want to think about all this^^^^....It's easy just to call a Bamma (which he is) that also played with a bad back and busted his ass trying to make it to the playoffs a weak, punk bitch...lol

Whatever helps y'all sleep at night...I hope Howard goes to Houston and kills it....

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

Not saying Broussard is THAT reliable, but I'd go with him over a Laker fan board

And let's not put up the Pringles hiring post, and how "sources" said he wasn't even in consideration

D12 people putting shade out there about the coach, the fans, teammates, legacy, etc, etc, etc.

Basically they are seeing what sticks in the court of public opinion so they can use it to give their boy a face-saving out of this situation.

If it were REALLY Pringles, he'd have been canned already and Dwight would be making sure he had ink in his pen. It's a combination of things and his mind is made up.

Treating a guy like shit for a year and inviting him back to be the only real piece on a team is usually now the way to wow him. No "mystique" can overcome an overwhelmingly negative experience.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I mean, he might not help. But Dwight knows he'd be the face of the franchise in a year. I honestly think it's a) his insecurity with Shaq/his style of play, b) Pringles, c) the fans ARE dicks to him, and d) a better situation RIGHT NOW in Houston.

you can lump the fans and kobe into the same camp as people who rode him, criticized him, jeered him and basically said "shape up or get out!" while secretly praying he would stay under any possible arrangement.

that said, i dont agree with LABeat up there. kobe is part of the problem, sure, but there is no single element here. howard didn't enjoy his time here, he didn't see the upshot in staying and he obviously hasnt been won over by tradition or big markets or financial opportunities either.

i dont know if he is justified in the way he feels or not. does that really make any difference? this is a threshold matter of him signing or leaving.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I dunno, I guess I'm jaded. I didn't see or hear too much of that, at least nothing that doesn't seem par for the course here. To be fair, I think few athletes want the level of scrutiny that comes with playing for the Lakers. I do think that's a factor too.

I also don't think the legacy is a factor in that he's not sold on it, I think he fears it on a certain level. There's a definite standard to be held to. He's expected to bring a title back to the Lakers, end of story. I don't think that expectation exists to the degree it does here anywhere but perhaps Boston. Dwight's hard to get a good read on though and anything he says or is reported to be said about him I take with a grain of salt.

I mean, like what?

I haven't seen anything that isn't par for the course in terms of LA expectations of star players.

So, what's so far out of that bubble that I missed?

The part where Laker fans were calling Howard a bum and claiming that he lacked heart....When that same player came back much too soon from a back injury and played with a torn shoulder for much of that season....This has nothing to do with Laker expectation...It's more about ignorance...

Those same fans should be knocking on the Lakers door about getting Diantioni out of LA and finding a coach better suited for this team instead of saying good riddance to Howard just because he's smart enough to know that Houston clearly represents the better setting/team/future...

about Dwight due to their pre-existing disdain for the Lakers and their fans.

Those are also the same sort of fans that say Derek Fisher is one of the best point guards in history because he has five rings. Yes, these people exist.

Every city has its casual fans who don't know all that much about the team or the game would have reacted the same way to an incumbent player with similar expectations.

Further, there was plenty legit criticism floated his direction. If he can't handle a relatively small percentage of idiot fans who talk out of their ass about shit like that, he should just retire because those fans are everywhere.

Further, where are all these people that are quoted saying this shit? OKP? Other message boards? Facebook and Twitter? Is he reading all of these?

>Those same fans should be knocking on the Lakers door about
>getting Diantioni out of LA and finding a coach better suited
>for this team

Because there aren't a shit ton of people who did that all year, from the moment he got fired.... right? Some fans thought D'Antoni was a huge issue. Some thought Dwight bitched too much about his touches, which is fair with his constant injury complaints. Plenty of fans harped on Kobe all on offense, our bench for not doing shit in stretches... I mean the list goes on. EVERYONE got roasted for something this year for having such an abysmal season.

So yeah, Dwight needs thicker skin. This is LA. People expect excellence, and anything less will get roasted like melmag questioning where Dream got his nickname from. Sorry, but this shit is really no different from the criticism others get year in and year out, Kobe included. If you ever listened to an LA sports program with any regularity, you'd hear a ton of calls bitching about Kobe, the coach, even Jerry Buss when he was alive. Phil got roasted in fucking TITLE SEASONS. People would call in furious over a loss or near loss to complain about his lack of adjustments, how he doesn't develop young players, etc.

This is really no big deal. Yes, there are some idiots out there who shit on him unfairly, but they shit on everyone, and sometimes they just don't know what they're talking about. Big whoop.

That's a pretty major over statement if you ask me. This season was a cluster for everyone involved, and one of the major issues he seemed to have (not getting the ball enough) was more or less offset by a major issue he actually had (the fact that he was playing hurt and had to heal up on company time, so to speak). There's a bit of a paradox at play there if you ask me.

There were definite moments in games where Kobe was on some boneheaded shit, to say nothing of his preseason assertion of his Alpha dog status, which was a terrible way to welcome the guy he was going to need to win that next ring.

So while there were certain elements at play that were definitely not the best way to convince the guy to return, saying he was treated like shit it is a fairly inaccurate portrayal of how things went down.

toughness when dude came back 3 months early from a back injury that by all intents and purposes was supposed to have him out until January and not back to 100% until a year after. Murph and I constantly called out cats here for trying to talk greasy about a dude who was showing his toughness and desire from day 1. Complete and utter bs to me...I'm all for calling people out for actual faults but dudes just piling on is ridiculous to me.

Obviously I'm just speculating, but he was catching a lot of heat early in the season for being a disappointment and not delivering when he was working his way back from a fairly serious injury. Then he had to spend the second half of the season watching a lot of the fanbase fawn over Kobe for being a Warrior and fighting through pain while he was being called mentally weak for not being able to put up his usual numbers with a messed up back.

I mean who know how much that stuff really matters but I could see how he could feel like he got suspect treatment. That said, I still wouldn't completely write off a return to L.A. That guaranteed 5th year should mean something to a big man with back issues. I wouldn't be shocked if all these leaks are overblown or at least partly designed to get the Lakers to woo him harder.

True...

The thing is people were confusing Howard's Bamma ways with his toughness...It's quite possible for dude to be a goofy moron and be a hardworker who leaves it out on the floor...And by coming back early from those injuries, Howard showed more than enough heart....

I for one don't blame Howard for wanting to leave the Lakers...Not saying that he doesn't share any blame for how things went down....But a lot of Laker fans were on some bullshit from day one when dude stepped on the court in that purple and gold...

When you've had experience with back issues then you understand what kind of pain Howard was actually in....Unfortunately, this point went over a lot of the media's and fan's heads....

The facts that you have some Laker heads in this very thread questioning Howard's toughness tells you all you need to know....

one was that some of the critiques were unfair as you mentioned (not to mention the broader shade thrown at the team for losing early) and the other was that howard is kind of a sensitive star. he wants to be loved and adulated and he wants to be credited. he doesn't seem to care for the other side of that coin too much.

Nah...it just seems to me that he wasn't healthy...He was unable to give the fans the same Howard that dominated in Orlando...

I would be kind of sensitive too if fans and media types were questioning my heart and talent after I busted my ass to get back on the court with a bad back and shoulder...

him coming off back surgery had nothing to do with his insistance of going almost exclusively with is left hand scoop/hook shot.... dude went to his off hand waaaay too much considering his off hand ain't that great..

plus he fumbled the ball and got stripped way too much..

these were all things I criticized Dwight for before his injury...

He's never been a dominate offensive center...and at times is only slightly above average in a half court set.

Come on W.C...U r smarter than this, homie....Back injuries and shoulder injuries affect the way a player moves on the court. It takes away their strength (a big part of Howard's game) and their quickness...That was not the dominating Howard that we have seen in pass years...Even on defense he was laboring...

I know you felt this way BEFORE Howard came to your squad...But dude managed to take Orlando to a Finals by not having The Dream's skill set...

>plus he fumbled the ball and got stripped way too much..

Again...read above...this was not the normal Howard...The player you saw was struggling physically...

>these were all things I criticized Dwight for before his
>injury...
>
>He's never been a dominate offensive center...and at times is
>only slightly above average in a half court set.

he took a team of role players to the Finals...When he's healthy he's the best center in the league...It's just that simple...

What you need to be worried about is Howard's health if anything....But if I was thinking logically about this I would give Howard a pass on his injuries considering that dude has been pretty healthy up until this moment....

To me your post partially spells it out why Howard wants to leave...Yes that joke of a coach has lot to do with...And Kobe rubbing him the wrong way does as well...but fans like yourself talking about Howard's left or right hand is kind of silly (no disrespect, dog...)

This dude rushed back too soon to come back on the court...Three months too soon...And he was obviously hurt....And all some fans can say is he's overrated...lol

I wish him good luck in Houston where people can appreciate his talents and hard work...Even if he is a goofy ass Bamma that needs to wear a condom every once in a while...

It was not such a BIG rep when he was taking his team to the Finals...People shitting on dude back than were more nitpicking than anything else...They wanted Howard to be something that he wasn't instead of respecting what he brought to the court...

Fuck a scouting report...lol...He was the best center in the league before those injuries...He was a game changer on the floor...

Yes, in an era without great centers. His flaws have always been pretty glaring even while his strengths shone brightly.

Nobody is saying he was never that good in the first place. You really have a romanticized perspective here to the point that you downplay accurate, valid criticisms that have always been there. Nobody- literally NOBODY in here is saying he was never that good. They're pointing out exactly what his flaws are, and they're pretty glaring for a player of his caliber. That's not unfair, that's not being mean, it's just the truth.

What I'm saying simply is let's see how dude does when he's healthy...Some of the criticism I'm sure is coming from a valid place...But a lot of it is of the pile on variety...

People are acting like his "flaws" are the reason why the Lakers are better off without him....But given the situation Howard was in last season, I'm saying it's been overplayed...

I'd say the reasonable assumption is that he had these concerns about him before we got him. Seeing them only reaffirmed those concerns, because seeing him 15-20 games a year and seeing him every night does provide a larger sample size.

Lakers, Houston, Dallas are the Big Three in play. I don't think that's questionable. I truly believe the Clippers are a true dark horse here though.

Doc+Paul is probably going to be pretty enticing. The fact that they have the kind of piece the Lakers might actually accept in a S&T is also a strong factor to consider when speculating on all this. My understanding is that the S&T penalty/prevention on teams over the cap won't kick in till next year, but I could be wrong. Blake/Bledsoe are the kind of players the Lakers could build around going forward, and none of the other teams have that to offer in helping Dwight retain all his money.

clips kept themselves alive by not making a player deal with boston, i guess.

i think some of it hinges on paul. to me it looks like houston and then the clippers, with dallas, the lakers and probably the warriors making good faith efforts that won't amount to much.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Curry+Klay would benefit tremndously from his presence.... which means Dwight benefits as well. None of the other teams boast the youth, depth, and players GS does going forward. Barnes showed what he's capable of last year in the playoffs and only figures to improve on both ends. He'd have the best perimeter players he's ever had by a mile.

They'd have to make one hell of a sales pitch though, because there's been little report of Dwight having anything more than a passing interest in them. Houston nets him that young stud in Harden though, a former big man as his coach (I truly think this matters to him). He's young and poised to snatch that best two guard mantle in a big way. He's also got the support of it's resident legend in Dream, unlike Shaq and his copout reasons for shitting on him.

In response to Reply # 166

I don't know how willing the Lakers would be to facilitate a move within the division for Howard and I don't think the Warriors would pay a king's ransom to make it happen.

I agree that GS would be a good fit though(admittedly I'm biased). Having the Splash Bros. to space the floor and a preacher as his coach should be intriguing for Howard. I just don't know that the Lakers would want him in the division for say, Barnes, a low value 2014 first round pick and Bogut on an expiring deal, and I don't think the Warriors would offer more than that.

It fits every criteria we would want

-Expiring deal
-Keeps cap flexibility for 2014
-A young, athletic 3 with good upside
-Potential to compete on *some* level this coming year

That's better than anything rumored right now, aside from Blake/Bledsoe.

Houston is the only legit option with the cap space to sign him outright, everyone else will have to basically gut their team to make it work

IMO Howard is looking at Houston primarily and possibly the Clips and GS because they are teams in a position to compete immediately. That may or may not be true of Dallas, probably not, and it doesn't seem true of Boston.

I don't see Boston and San Antonio coming up with the players and I don't see Howard going to Boston, period. What is San Antonio going to offer? Has to be S+T with contracts of substance. Do they bloat a one-year deal for Ginobili and send him with a younger asset and picks? Do the Lakers lift a fucking finger to help the Spurs? The funny thing is though, all these suitors are in the West.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

CSN Houston has confirmed who will be part of the first Rockets contingent sent in the Dwight Howard recruitment process when free agency begins on Monday.

The group will include the following: CEO Tad Brown, GM Daryl Morey, Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler and Chandler Parsons.

James Harden will not be a part of this first group, but will speak to Howard on his own time.

Get that Max money!
Go play with Spice 1!

Give us Boguts expiring, Klay, and throw in Biedrins expiring.

We get a dead eye shooter (and legit Lakers blood) to keep long term, a servicable center for one year, and our cap space is presevered.

Excellent get. Plus, Klay will be a legit draw for free agents.

Oh, I get the luxury of one of the best three point shooters in the game at my side? Cool. Sign me up.

In Pringles system too? Klay will BEAST from three. Pau might have a renaissance.

Which I don't think I'd really be for. I'm currently having this argument with my fellow Warriors as to whether making the trade for Dwight is the right thing to do.

Probably be moot anyway, as he'll probably just sign with Houston.

My source close to me tells me DHo asked Morey if he could add another max player. That takes GS out of the equation.

Houston has this in the bag. This means DHo isn't going to a team without two more max players. I'm talking legit all-stars that fit the Celtics big three blueprint.

If you can get a long-term, dead-eye shooter and have the remaining contracts expiring next year which keeps the 2014 plan in place, that return trumps trading in the same division.

I openly rooted for Brawn and the Lebroneers, and thanked him profusely for preventing the Spurs from winning. I openly gloated, here on these very boards, about my joy in seeing Elmo, Frenchy, Baldy, and Pop lose. I was especially tickled at *how* they lost, what with them being SO painfully close to a the title, only to have Pop, Baldy and Elmo choke on that shit like old men who forgot how to chew.

So, again.... who the fuck is "y'all"? I damn sure didn't root for the Spurs.

because they'd never get to the finals unless another superstar joins later on. though, it's better than letting him walk.

but

if i were Mitch i'd strictly ask for Barnes AND Klay, at least. Which makes it dumb for Warriors because they need to keep at least one of them.

i'm not calling you or the idea dumb. Yall can have Klay OR Barnes...then take ur pick from anyone not named Steph Curry and im wit that trade.

That's the case regardless. There's too much emphasis placed on the division IMO. We'll still have to contend with the Clippers and Warriors either way, so why not do the deal that gives us the best shot at getting to that level ASAP?

>if i were Mitch i'd strictly ask for Barnes AND Klay, at

I doubt Dwight would go in that situation. It's a real tough call on Barnes too. Klay is more of a sure thing but Barnes has arguably higher ceiling, though neither guy screams franchise player IMO.

>i'm not calling you or the idea dumb. Yall can have Klay OR

Klay, Boguts expiring, and any other expiring contracts and we're golden.

having those two old, broke down has beens part of the meeting can only remind dwight that there's no future plan in LA and no supporting pieces.

the lakers must know that. their pitch is all about saving face with kobe and their fans. it's a not a serious effort to bring him back.

Only reason I felt it was an "upgrade" was bc Bynum was injured all the time...but then he got hurt. I felt we needed more help at PG, so I wasn't all "TEAM DWIGHT!" and "WE'RE SET!" like most folks.

And at this point, I feel even lesser about him. I called him an "upgraded Brad Daugherty" earlier. If he leaves, he does. If he stays, I'll be a little bit happy but not really...I don't think he wanted to be here last year, and I don't see that changing, even if he does re-sign. It would only be about $$$.
