Here Are All 27 NFL Players Who Have Been Arrested Since The Super Bowl
Tony Manfred Jun. 26, 2013, 12:08 PM

It has been an awful offseason for the NFL.

Twenty-seven active players have been arrested in total so far, most notably star New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. Since the Super Bowl on February 3, NFL players have been arrested for common crimes like DUI and public intoxication, but also for things like street racing, child abuse, and trying to solicit a prostitute.

Using the comprehensive databases of both Pro Football Talk and the San Diego Union Tribune, here's the list of the 27 active players who have been arrested so far:

Michael Boley, New York Giants (Feb. 8): Arrested for child abuse in Alabama.

Da'Quan Bowers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Feb. 18): Arrested for having a gun in his luggage at LaGuardia Airport, charges later reduced to disorderly conduct.

Al Netter, San Francisco 49ers (Feb. 22): Arrested for DUI in California.

Desmond Bryant, Cleveland Browns (Feb. 24): Arrested for criminal mischief in Miami.

J'Marcus Webb, Chicago Bears (Feb. 24): Arrested for marijuana possession in Illinois, charges dropped.

Javarris Lee, Arizona Cardinals (March 7): Arrested for failing to appear in court in Florida.

Quinton Carter, Denver Broncos (March 9): Arrested for allegedly cheating at craps at a Vegas casino, case dismissed.

Cody Grimm, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (March 10 and May 28): Arrested for public intoxication in Virginia twice.

Evan Rodriguez, Chicago Bears (March 21 and May 31): Arrested for resisting an officer in Miami (charged later dropped), and then for DUI, speeding and "improper lane usage."

Trumaine Johnson, St. Louis Rams (March 22): Arrested for misdemeanor DUI in Montana.

Brandon Barden, Tennessee Titans (March 23): Arrested on suspicion of DUI after driving his car off the road in Georgia.

Amari Spivey, Detroit Lions (March 27): Arrested for third-degree assault in an alleged domestic violence incident involving his girlfriend in Connecticut.

William Moore, Atlanta Falcons (April 18): Arrested for simple battery after allegedly grabbing a woman by the shoulder in Atlanta.

Rolando McClain, Baltimore Ravens (April 22): Arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in Alabama.

Ronnell Lewis, Detroit Lions (April 23): Arrested for getting in a bar fight in Oklahoma.

Quentin Groves, Cleveland Browns (April 24): Arrested for solicitation in a prostitution sting in Ohio.

Cliff Harris, New York Jets (May 2): Arrested for marijuana possession in New Jersey.

Claude Davis, New York Jets (May 2): Arrested for marijuana possession in New Jersey.

Daryl Washington, Arizona Cardinals (May 3): Arrested for aggravated assault after an alleged domestic violence incident with his ex-girlfriend.

Armonty Bryant, Cleveland Browns (May 6): Arrested for DUI in Oklahoma.

Titus Young, free agent (May 5, twice, and May 10): Arrested on suspicion of DUI, and then arrested again on the same day for trying to steal his own car from the tow yard. Arrested less than a week later for burglary.

Mike Goodson, New York Jets (May 17): Arrested on drug and gun charges in New Jersey.

Joe Morgan, New Orleans Saints (May 29): Arrested for DWI in Louisiana.

Pacman Jones, Cincinnati Bengals (June 11): Arrested on an assault charge for allegedly punching a woman outside a club in Cincinnati.

Jason Peters, Philadelphia Eagles (June 12): Arrested for street racing and leading police on a high-speed chase.

Aaron Hernandez, New England Patriots (June 26): Arrested for murder and five gun-related charges in Massachusetts.

Ausar Walcott, Cleveland Browns (June 26): Arrested for attempted murder after punching a man outside a club in New Jersey.

Apart from murder and child abuse (and potentially Titus Young having a serious psychological breakdown), these are all "dumb shit you do in your 20s" crimes.

Studies have shown that despite the media faux outrage, pro athletes commit crimes at comparable rates to... males in their 20s.

Rich young dudes with jobs on Wall Street get DUIs too. These are crimes of being young and dumb, not crimes of economic want.

I'm not defending the behavior, just saying that any group of 20-something men is going to have a higher crime rate than the population at large. Athletes are no exception.

It's too funny...Being both a NFL and NBA fan you get the chance to hear all the double standard bullshit that sports heads and talk radio hosts spew out.....

You won't hear any talk of the NFL being a thug league (i.e. too black) like they did with the NBA...And yet it's the NFL players that continue to find themselves in some form of legal/criminal issue...

Good thing that the NFL is such a mammoth gambling power....That's the only reason people are not talking shit about all the criminal activity that seems to hit the league...

Fuck it...Go Bears!

They implemented a dress code because "people" thought the NBA was a bunch of thugs

Whereas with the NFL, you see this shit happen much more often

The way the 2 leagues are viewed, especially when both have black majorities is interesting

In response to Reply # 0

according to the census, there's approximately 30 million males aged 20-34 in the US.

30 mil x 1.59% = 477,000 males aged 20-34 that would have to be arrested since the super bowl to be equivalent.

According to the most recent stats (2010) there were 1.4 million arrests for simple or aggravated assault alone. That's a little over 100K per month, which would be about 500K arrests from a period of Feb - June. If we assume that about 60% are committed by males 20-34, and that's 275K arrests for assault alone.

In short, the NFL doesn't have any higher rate of arrest than regular society. If anything, it's probably lower (possibly significantly lower). But NFL players are famous, so it makes the news every time it happens.

most other people in the 1% come from money, and have had a lifetime of preparation for being a wealthy adult.

most pro athletes don't come from money - many come from poverty - and have virtually no preparation for becoming wealthy adults.

How many middle class and working class people could call a friend, or a relative, or a cab?

It's not a 24-hour free NFL service but very few people who get caught drunk driving can say "I literally had no other option other than to drive."

Mostly it's just being lazy, careless, or dumb, no matter what your income is.

Man...these are high paid athletes that are playing in a professional sports league; the biggest American professional sports league at that...U can't compare what they they do with everyday society...

Besides, NFL crimes just over the last three years have been pretty over the top....I'm a Bears fan...And one of our own players Sam Hurd plead guilty to drug trafficking....Dude was trying to buy 5 to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana weekly to distribute.

That ain't every day petty crime shit...lol...And really, someone being tried for shooting someone executioner style and dumping the body ain't exactly ruffhousing....

But the crazy part is, can u imagine what people would say about the NBA if Hurd or Hernandez was a PF for the Bulls?

with money, power are often inclined to do something stupid bc of their feelings of privilege..so I'm always initially shocked when a celebrity does something stupid and then reality sets in. Just bc someone has a lot of money or is famous, doesn't mean they make smart decisions.

But its very easy for a regular hard-working joe to look at a famous criminal like c'mon really?

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Nah dog....That post means little to the specifics of what I'm talking about....

1....I'm getting more into the hypocrisy of sports fans and how the NBA was being demonized because players were being pulled over with weed in the car.....

And 2, just because someone doesn't come from wealth and didn't have the best childhood doesn't mean you allegedly shoot someone in the back of the head....Or make a ridiculous play to become Pablo E. as you are getting NFL money...Or shoot your baby mama and hide in a trunk with bottles of piss...Or kill your girlfriend and then shoot yourself in the head...

This ^^^^ is all some other shit....Not a DUI (which btw, NFL players seem to be connected with quite a lot) or having bar fights or getting caught with weed....That's normal shit...

These fools are psychopaths.....

the numbers would be pretty different.

i like what you did there and appreciate the info, but it's not the end all here either.

of course even looking at it through the lens of their earning peers wouldn't be that informative, since most of those people are at least noticeably older and probably not out partying.

unless it's like a real heinous deuce where the guy was blowing fire into the breathalyzer, then it's just a normal dumbass mistake. possession of marijuana is not even a thing any more in some places.

so to me it's not really the volume of arrests that is striking, but what the very worst ones are for. this a hern thing is a real chart topper, obviously.

..while i agree that the marijuana possession is minor, those dui charges aren't

i don't give a damn if they were barely blowin' over the limit. a dui is reckless and endangers the lives of everyone else on the road.

but the general public, rich included, do it at a higher percentage than NFL players. read any weekly DUI report and you'll see every single demographic represented -- it's an American problem, not a NFL one.

..i'm not much for singling out the NFL

i just needed to point out that DUI should never be considered a minor offense

*and while its likely that we've all been impacted by it one way or another, we need to be proactive about recognizin' the serious nature of that offense and how we can do more to break that cycle.
