2) He's Been In The League 10 Years But Has Accomplished Less Than Half Of What Durant Has
3) He Shot In The 30's This Postseason
4) Media Likes Durant Better
5) No Major Injury To Anyone On His Squad (Unless I Guess You Count STAT)

It'll be Melo, Durant is thanking his lucky stars for that dude as we speak.

But magically, Carmelo doesn't need a post presence

Or a legit second option

Or a backcourt that isn't fat or 40 years old

When Durant fail, not his fault

But its all Carmelo's fault

Interesting

market of all the NBA teams

and the other guy plays in Oklahoma, one of smaller media markets

One player and the team he plays for has underachieved and the expectations this season was championship or bust (or at least the ECF)

The other player has been in a finals and he is w/o his 2nd best player

Yeah you know the answer to this (rhetorical) question

Instead they're getting humiliated in Round 2 after somehow letting the C's hang around in Round One despite having zero ability to score.

This is either historical revisionism or maybe some outsider perspective.

I live in NY.

Expectations at the start of the season were make the playoffs and maybe advance a round.

Expectations at the start of the playoffs were DONT LOSE IN THE FIRST ROUND

How could anyone think this was a potential chip team???

They have a superstar scorer, a notoriously streaky gunner off the bench, and a defensive specialist at center. After that it's utility players. All of whom are old as dirt.

We're talking about the landscape headed into the playoffs.

The Knicks were a two-seed, they were on a roll going into the playoffs, some paranoid people thought the C's were gonna give them trouble despite having zero scoring but then they got up 3-0.

Since then, they let them back in the series.

They were still favored to beat Indiana in this series & had homecourt.

Since that 3-0, they've been going up and down the court with shit-stains soaking through their shorts.

Their leading-scorer/franchise-guy is shooting in the 30's percentage-wise for the playoffs & since he gives you NOTHING else that's not good enough.

I just told you nobody thought they were a damn title team, of course we all know that.

they were however *expected* by seeding, injuries to other teams & oddsmakers supposed to *get* to Miami rather than be slaughtered by the Pacers.

If you can't admit that, you're as lost as they are.

The idea that they would beat the Pacers is just asinine.

2 seed or no 2 seed, no one with any brains thought they would beat the Pacers or give Miami "a series"

Their team is horrifically flawed and fantastically overachieved to get that 2 seed.

you want them to get a pat on the back for winning a first-round playoff series against an old C's squad playing without their best player?

No Eastern Conference two-seed has lost in the first-round since the NBA changed to best-of-seven, last seven seed to win in the east was actually the Knicks over the Heat during the infamous fight-suspension five-game-war back when Jordan was still winning chips.

Yes, OKC was the #1 seed. With Russel Westbrook. Who went down during the playoffs. And yet no one would have ever had the balls to suggest the Thunder's goal was just to win the first round.

The attempts to bring it to Durant as of he can save Melo are futile dude. He's going to get & receive some criticism, if Melo didn't exist it'd probably be a lot more. But trying to equate the two? Thinking KD's failing without Russ is gonna save the Ballhogeddy Losing-Ass Chuck Wagon?

Nobody's buying it. You're better off just staying down for another day & hoping he scores 60 tonight to keep them in it rather than co-signing people proud the Knicks beat the Celtics then got destroyed in the second round. That shit is unbecoming.

I don't care who's on that roster, they were good enough to get the 2 seed and have home court vs. the 3 seed, thus the expectation is to win that series.

I'm more of a college guy, but I've never once seen a 2 seed team say "thank god we made the Sweet 16, that's all we wanted."

The same Knicks that split with the Pacers this season, and one of the losses was without Melo?

They weren't supposed to beat the lower-seeded Pacers or give any challenge whatsoever to the Heat?

Pacers were the 3 seed and no, they were not going to do either of those things and no one with a lick of sense should have expected them to.

I am not a Knicks fan. But I do watch basketball. Knicks are not built for any playoff success whatsoever.

No interior scoring. No great wing defenders. Only two players who can create their own shots. No bench. Shump is a good young player but he is just a utility guy.

There is no BASKETBALL argument for Pacers losing in 7 to Knicks. Which is why all anyone keeps saying is "#2 seed!"

They do what they did two out of the three games with Melo that they won this year: 1. Force plenty of turnovers. 2. Either shoot the ball decently well or get plenty of offensive boards and second chance points.

Do those two things and win. They did it twice this year, so they're clearly capable of doing it.

That's regular season basketball. You see how much it is worth right now.

1) The Knicks have Chandler inside to rebound. PAcers have Hibbert, West, Hansbrough. I don't see them getting boards in a playoff series and lo and behold, they didn't. Pacers don't have to double anyone, cuz they got D like that, so they had the numbers inside on every missed jumper.

2) Speaking of which, those jumpers are not just going to keep falling for 7 games against a well-coached, hard nosed defensive team with wing athleticism.

Pacers are younger, much more athletic, have more scorers, far superior inside scoring, more size, and are deeper.

Knicks needed interior scoring, more rebounding and some warm bodies off the bench.

In the college tourney, it's one game. Matchups or a team just having a great/bad shooting night and easily have a higher seeded team get upset.

But in the NBA, with a seven game series, and professional athletes that aren't teenagers, there's no excuse for a two seed with no major injuries to be happy with just making it to the second round.

this was a team that they went 7 with two years ago when they were both wetter behind the ears but i mean OKC had westbrook AND harden there.

there is no guarantee whatsoever that they would have won this thing with westbrook and almost no chance without. their whole offense was a mess, they had no one to really initiate and control anything. it was mostly getting the ball to durant early in the clock and letting him play against two, three and even four defenders.

he poured in points early but at some point you just can't possibly beat an entire team alone. no flow to their offense whatsoever and that's not part of durant's job.

they had no one chewing up space in the middle of the floor, no room on the wings where he and martin often thrive. they played poorly. you have a real and direct impact from westbrook's loss, and a very good opponent.

with melo, honestly i expected the pacers to win but even as a knicks hater/melo detractor (they used to be mutually exclusive), i didn't expect it to go like this. i'd argue that OKC was more competitive in their series against superior competition than NYK was in theirs and what was their excuse?

melo got d'ed up hard by george. everyone wants to throw woodson under the bus and shit, JR Smith, man, people were riding HOARD on those guys for year-end awards and bullshit.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

If the Pacers and Grizz meet in the Finals (unlikely but not impossible), I think that series is a toss-up.

Pacers lost Granger and had to "find themselves" during the season. They were a far better team than the Knicks and should give Miami a tough series AT WORST.

I do not see any compelling evidence that the Grizzlies RIGHT TODAY are a SIGNIFICANTLY better team than the Pacers.

In response to Reply # 36

Memphis scores more points per game in the playoffs, against teams that averaged better defense in the regular season than Indiana's opponents.

Memphis shoots a higher percentage in the playoffs, same set of circumstances.

They have admittedly allowed more points... But since they're allowing 4.3 more points per game against teams that scored over 5 more points per game during the regular season than Indiana's opponents, I'll call it a wash. I'll still concede this one due to Westbrook's absence.

Memphis has more assists.

Memphis forces more turnovers.

Indiana is out-rebounding Memphis, once again against two teams that averaged fewer rebounds per game in the regular season than Memphis' opponents.

Significant is obviously a relative term... but the basketball argument for Memphis having performed better all season and right today is clear. Better point guard play. Better frontcourt. Less reliance on the 3-pointer. Better results.

Disgusting. and you should be ashamed of yourself

All that shit don't matter-

Carmelo is on an AWFUL team. AWFUL. He CARRIED these
bums and NONE OF YALL SAID SHIT...now that Durant has to
CARRY a team we seeing how TERRIBLE HE IS....carrying a
team is NOT EASY....it ain't

This is relevant to Lebron too (that argument been shot down
though)

Carmelo is on a team with fat and old guards

The second best frontcourt player on the Knicks was a
10-day contract guy earlier this year

The second-best scorer on the Knicks is a terrible human
being who hates playing basketball

Shumpert JUST learning how to play the way he did pre-injury

Amare is an old jewish man

NOBODY analzying CARMELO'S situation

NOBODY

Its ALLLLLL ON HIM even though he SHOULD be given the benefit
of the doubt because HE ACTUALLY DID GO DEEP INTO THE
PLAYOFFS AFTER EJECTING IVERSON...I got y'all SO MAD UP

Dude said Indiana is a better team than Memphis, and I disagreed.

I also think a 2 seed is supposed to make the ECF, especially one who did so well against the Heat and Pacers in the regular season. I even stressed Melo's importance by not including their loss to the Pacers in which he didn't play.

I have no anti-Melo agenda. But New York should've beaten the Pacers, and Memphis is a better team than Indiana. Those are my two arguments here.

everything.

But his overall point is right, knicks didn't match up well against indiana's size and their style of play isn't conducive to the playoffs. It was evident in the Boston series.

The only way the knicks should have been picked to win the series is if you thought that Melo was gonna carry them, and he's been off.

So sure the knicks are a 2 seed, home court, etc. so for agenda purpose sure, fry away.

In real life though, the signs were on the wall that Indy should take this series.

We don't have a chance unless Melo has some elite level performances.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

or that Carmelo has accomplished even near what Durant has with twice the amount of time in, that the Knicks should be happy to have won their first-round series everything else is gravy, that KD losing without Russ is the same as Melo losing with his full team he got that two-seed with, and on and on.
