"MLB Talk 5/13: Shush!"

Apparently people can't stir up a story about the Yankees overachieving with their talent in the absence of marquee names so we're left overhyping bullpen gossip:

I think this really tells us a lot about where we're at in sports culture. 20 years ago, Rob Dibble was not shushing people. He was tackling the manager in the clubhouse:

In other news, the only clear favorite in any division to have emerged is the Rangers. Otherwise, there's 2-4 teams in every division that appear to have reasonable playoff hopes. Competitive baseball all around thus far, that is unless you're in Miami, Houston, or southern California.

Meanwhile, Carlos Gomez is fulfilling potential I never really knew he had. Manny Machado is the new sexy. Roy Halladay may be done for good. Miguel Cabrera is still really good at hitting a baseball.

High profile series this week include Braves @ Diamondbacks, Tigers @ Rangers, and Rays @ Orioles.

The Cardinals were busy being the best team with the best rotation in baseball. My goodness, when Freese starts hitting...

I want to give the nod to the Tigers because I like strikeouts and I think Westbrook's success is a complete mirage, but Rick Porcello really sticks out in that bunch head-to-head.

The 5 HRs that he hit this year put him ahead of Johnny Lindell for 2nd most HRs by a player that was ever a full-time pitcher. He now needs 640 to catch Babe Ruth.

Edit: I forgot Lefty O'Doul and his 113 HRs. I discount Ben Chapman because of WWII.
