If you saw the first fight, you already know that you're tuning in to the rematch tonight.
How do you see the fight playing out?
I can’t help but get the feeling that Rios may soon bite off more than he can chew. He was electric in his ability to disassemble Alvarado in the first bout, goading Alvarado into his kitchen of firebrand brawling. However, had Alvarado been able to remain disciplined, he would’ve controlled the moments of boxing throughout. Because Rios is so scintillating to watch mow down top-level opponents, we tend to forgive & forget his gift against Abril in a fight where Rios was bewilderingly ineffective and easily outboxed.
Further, because of the fast lifestyle and questionable regimen Rios employs in between fights, the question must be asked: How long can Rios continue to resurrect himself from zombie-like states on the scales only to transform into a tireless predator just 24 hours later? If Alvarado can pick his spots and focus on ring generalship, I think he outpoints Rios (assuming a competent judicial panel presides over the matter). However, I see him eventually giving in to the urge to scrap, and getting in trouble as soon as he does. As long as Rios can make it his kind of fight, he wins. Nobody in the division is better at banging on the inside in a phone-booth. Rios by middle round KO (rounds 6-8).

Took Alvarado in the first fight, and I agree that if he remains disciplined and boxes Rios, he can probably win a decision. There were a few rounds in the first fight where he threw a ton of jabs, kept the fight on the outside, and won comfortably.
I just don't see him sticking to that gameplan once Rios starts to turn up the pressure.

i think if he just sticks to boxing he'll win this fight sadly he's talking about making this another FOTY so I think he'll simply play into Rios hands again we'll see

agreed. part of me feels like Rios may not be in the type of shape he needs to be in tonight, but Alvarado will likely make it too easy for Rios to get the fight he wants. Should be fun as long as it lasts.

That was a nice shot, reminded me of Rahman-Maskaev.
They're talking about having him fight maybe five times this year. I think that's a great move. Keep him sharp, keep his name out there. Looking forward to his next bout.

2 fight of the year candidates already and donaire vs. ricondeux (sp) in a couple of weeks..... i give that much to Arum, he doesn't protect his fighters once you reach that top tier you're going have to fight to stay there overall this is going be a great yr for boxing it seems donaire, canelo vs. trout, mayweather returns, bute vs. pascal, manny v. jmm 5(?)

i still think these are two of the top jr. welters right now kinda want to see them against some of the other top 140lbers i'd love to see alvarado vs. peterson or something like that makes more sense money wise to have them rematch on the undercard of whatever the sept. 4th fight is (manny vs jmm?) the whole mexico might buy that shit lol broner and rios have been talking shit to each other. figured rios would eventually catch broner if they fought and really test him but now i think broner might be able to pick and pop his way to a win even with rios cutting off the ring effectively alvarado was able to get out of there at will basically rios footspeed is just not fast enough i don't think
wow @ that kid crawford really skilled and with pop i cringed every time they talked bout him fighting broner since that basically has 0 % chance of happening but we'll still see him in there with some names really soon with crawford and jesse hart arum is bringing up some really good black pure boxers with amateur pedigree. future should be interesting
