-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

so many people said "memphis made a mistake getting rid of a guy who can create his own shot" and blah blah blah. i didnt buy that for a second. i have been a gay apologist at times, i guess, but i never thought of him as anything close to a number one guy and moaned when he signed his deal.

the average national analyst dummy, OK, you dont watch memphis and dont know gay's game. but for some guys, wow. barkley in particular. he has been all over memphis from early in the season and really praised gasol, conley, et al. now he thinks these guys can't hack it with a just above average starting small forward? made no sense.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

in there

I'm going to wait until the end of the month before I'm convinced

their record against the LAC/SAN/OKC isn't really impressive either

they have a handful of games against better comp coming up

I'll wait

I was caught off guard that they passed the LAC in the standings

they NEED a W tonight

and his player efficiency ratings came into play with this trade

maybe a Billy Bean ball brand of NBA player evaluation?

anyway

MEM is built for the playoffs

phenomenal D and exceptional in the halfcourt

IMO, only OKC will beat them in a 7 game series (in the WC)

I honestly was blown away when the commentators last night said

Tayshaun (spelling) is 33 YO

I swore dude was closer to 40

and that he is from Compton

Compton Tayshaun, who knew.

Before the trade Grizz had won 30 games Raps 16

Grizz were a better team top to bottom than the Raptors and there is no way you can't see how the Raptors didn't win.

Grizzlies needed to shed salary AND get better ball movement and spacing
which they got. nghs called me crazy.

Raptors got another great offensive piece that they can now build around.

rudy being described as a "great offensive piece" is like calling long john silver's "gourmet cuisine."

tyshaun prince has replicated gay's performance in every single way, except is actually *much better* simply because he shoots much less. and when tyshaun is more valuable than you on offense, you're whitefish fillet and two hushpuppies.

per 36 minutes

gay:

47% TS
19 points
6 rebs
2.5 assists
2.4 turnovers
offensive rating 97
defensive rating 100
WS/48 .078

prince:

47% TS
11 points
5 rebs
3 assists
1 turnover
offensive rating 103
defensive rating 103
WS/48 .087

rudy scoring more points is actually a bad thing, since it means that a guy with below-average efficiency is taking up more of his team's possessions.

which should only underscore how aberrant this season has been

dude steadily improved his way up to back to back ~18 PER seasons, and tayshaun prince hasnt done that once in his entire career

12-13 has been garbage, but this is not representative of what hes been

but his career TS% is about league average. unless he was a dominant defender or contributing tons of rebounding/assists, he's not worth $17M (but i don't think we're debating that here anyway). yes, he can definitely play better than he's been this season.

he's been even worse in toronto, probably because they don't have great post players to take pressure off the perimeter. to be that lousy with gasol and randolph gets you in the fishbowl coupon club.

toronto is the same organization that resigned derozen and bargz. if they traded for rudy, you know it's an idiotic move by default. dumb teams do dumb things (see: philadelphia).

they have $45M tied up in gay, derozen, bargz and fields for next season and $50M for the year after. sneaking into the playoffs in the east isn't much of a victory for a team with one good young player (lowry) and no financial wiggle room. they're doomed.
