The headliner is LAL at OKC. Lakers need this game. Lakers beat them last time out but nothing else in their recent history shows that they can do it consistently. If OKC pushes the tempo and runs, the Lakers are probably in trouble. Serge not being suspended is a travesty. Im looking fwd to seeing Kobe with that Iverson Off Road Nitro boost.

A loss for the lakers would giev a half game back to Utah with a back to back in NO tomorrow.

There are games you want to win, like this one against a matchup nightmare whose greatest strength is our achilles heel (transition, work rate) and then are games that you need...like beating a sub .500 hornets team tomm night.

If every game is one we NEED, then logically we need to go 22-0 to make the playoffs!

That's what it would take for them to get to 46. I wouldn't be stunned to see the 7 - 13. If the Lakers just go .500 the rest of the way out, they have a good shot at catching the Jazz.

Kid looked completely lost in his rookie year but is now a legit starter in the league and getting better every game. I'm really hoping Ainge can somehow convince him to re-sign this offseason because I think he could make himself some real money next year.

he was pretty good tonight statistically, but i hate everything about his game. he's waiting to become a shitty version of boris diaw: none of the polish, all of the bingo arms.

outside of his crappiness, i just got a weird premonition that this season might end up beneficial for the sixers. obviously we have no idea what will happen with bynum, and we won't know for a while.

but operating under the comical theory that bynum will return to be a dominant force, jrue will continue to improve (maybe he could even take a FT once in a while) and thad will remain a solid but under-appreciated asset, landing a lottery pick might be the difference between being pretty good and really good.

what i'm saying is that philly is currently playing worse than any team in basketball (1-9 over last ten games) and should immediately tumble into tank mode. they currently own the 11th worst record in the NBA, but are only 3.5 games ahead of the wizards (who are the third worst). they can plunge quickly.

that said, i have no faith in the organization or collins to do anything correctly. we talk about morey all day and you know at least there's a process and a plan. there's none of that in philly. they blew their amnesty wad on HAWES AND BROWN.

Dude has been Head Coach, Director of Scouting, General Manager, VP of Ops, Head of Marketing & Promotion.

In each of those roles, he never really was the final decision maker and he's still not.

He supposedly got the gig because all their other GM options weren't interested in taking on the role while Collins had final say.

That being said, I don't share Guinness' cynicism about Josh Harris, Fresh Prince & the ownership group.

They took a big cut & struck out with the Bynum plus shooters strategy but the reality is they were still ballsy enough to recognize that last year's playoff run was fool's gold & to get rid of the Iguodala type of contracts that kept us mediocre.

Now we have our two best players both young an under control on reasonable deals with no major money due anyone on the roster or locked up past 2014.

I think unlike Ed Snider they might actually care about building a winner here bcuz they know it's a license to print money in this city if they do.

I'm gonna wait & see what they do. I wouldn't be surprised if they cut ties with Collins.

they finally hired a metrics guy, and even interviewed some candidates for the GM position who emphasized advanced numbers. not saying this is anything other than a blindingly obvious thing to do, but at least it's a change. they want to do this right.

but the sad fact is that every move under their tenure has turned out badly so far, outside of re-upping jrue before he became a restricted Fagent.

it's pretty much carnage.

One worked out beautifully giving us a 22-year-old All-Star at a far cheaper price tag than what some team's gonna give an inferior like Brandon Jennings this summer.

The other had us pay 16 mill & essentially three firsts for the Black Yahoo Serious who spent the season walking around local theme restaurants in sweats & house shoes.

All the other moves sorta became byproducts of that but I'm hoping they can find ways to recover rather than compound & unlike under Snider I don't yet have enough info to say they can't or won't.

Last offseason was basically their first since they hopped in during the lockout prior to last season.

Remember Pat Croce hitched his wagon to Brad Greenberg & Johnny Davis in his first GM/HC combo?

The thing that made him a great President was he took ownership of those mistakes and immediately cut bait with them in his second.

I'm gonna give Harris a chance to do the same with his second offseason.

We really might also creep down the ranks past everybody but Cleveland/Charlotte by the end because they are gassed, Thad's still not all the way back, the team finally realized that Bynum was still bullshitting but never gonna play and they have grown weary of Collins who they know was instrumental in the deal that decimated their depth.

Hopefully they can land a high lottery pick who turns out to not be a fucking goofball bum like Evan Turner and they can go get a real GM this offseason who makes the final call on personnel and determining whether to keep Collins or not.

he needs to be fired. they can blame bynum's absence for the shitty offense, but the fact that the sixers have repeatedly been the worst in basketball at avoiding midrange jumpers and getting to the FT line is a testament to his doomed ideology. the rox are about to set a NBA record for the least midrange jumpers taken in a season with omer asik and greg smith at center. having a dominant post presence has nothing to do with it.

then he's gone. There's an outside chance he gets fired last day of the season anyway if he finishes at this 9 L's in every 10 games pace or anywhere close to it.

I wouldn't fire him now because I don't want to fuck around & give ourselves a new-coach adrenalin-boost when at this point I'd rather lose as many as possible.

collins has this ship sinking fast and there's no need to risk someone plugging the holes

But it's going to take years of being miscast as a top three guy for a winning team to get there.

Thad as a stretch four is kind of comical since he doesn't stretch the floor. He also is failing at being a quick four since one of the benefits of that is getting to the line, but he somehow forgot how to shoot free throws this year.

Despite the mess of their roster, they kind of have to go with a win now route, especially if they re-sign Bynum. Trade Turner and Thad for vets and make a run at relevance.

not in the ryan anderson mold or anything, but he was making 35% of his threes a couple years ago -- and taking them fairly regularly. then the sixers inexplicably forbade him from shooting them, and both his FG percentage from there and attempts have plummeted since.

i think thad is a useful player, unlike most of the sixers. don't think he's worth 8M a year, but he's a solid defender for a tweener and has been an efficient scorer in the past.

Rewarding a dude with sawdust knees, scarecrow hair & a trust-fund baby's work ethic to anywhere near the max deal he thinks he's entitled to will set this team back even more than trading for him already has.
