"Bron to MJ - "You can't kick over my pillow fort fam." *link*"

I'm glad Bron didn't feel like he couldn't say something. Or gave a short answer. He elaborated.

And I'm glad his teammates had his back.

MJ still sitting there thinking his aura gonna intimidate current players. Nope.

Save that shit for Chuck, Pat, and Malone.

And even Kobe is caught up chasing MJ.

Bron is doing him. And he's happy. And he's having fun. And he plays with his kids. He shows them his big ass phone, so they can draw shit on it right before he goes to the barbershop and get an edge up.

King is positioning himself to be bigger than Jordan on and off the court. And he's refusing to let him define him.

trippin off what MJ said. I love how he included everyone without dissing them too. If and when he surpasses MJ, or makes it a real debate once his career is over, he'll still probably defer to MJ and look better doing it.

He's not surpassing MJ's 6, not in this era of basketball. The right trade at the deadline and Miami could lose this year. Off the court, he will never see the Jordan brand. That goes for Kobe or any current athlete today.

Horry was never the first, second, third or maybe not even the 4th option on ANY of those championship teams. He was just fortunate to be on the teams.

Bill Russel, Jordan, Kobe (1-b with Shaq), Bron, Ewing, Barkley, Reggie were the first option on their teams. The superstar, the go to player, team goes no where without them. You guys are smarter than that. Bron shouldve been smarter, but no his feelings are hurt so he played that stupid card.

If you don't have as many rings as the next "superstar", you career is judged as being not as great. Sorry, deal with it. Bron got time, but right now he needs to stay in his lane as not better than....

Hell, Ewing, Barkley and Reggie are ringless due to one person, Jordan.

Just because Horry wasn't the 1st-4th option don't make Lebron statement any less true. A first option super star player still requires a good team to win a championship. You must forgot how stacked with talent the Bulls, Lakers and Celtics were. We are smarter than that this is why I'm educating you.

This is true because people who THINK they know the game of basketball like you are doing the judging in those terms. Lebron just addressing the people that are trying to come in his lane. He didn't respond with hate or malice intent he just gave a logical explanation that eating away at haters hearts.

>Hell, Ewing, Barkley and Reggie are ringless due to one
>person, Jordan.

No.... Ewing ringless because of the Spurs and Millers ringless because of the Lakers. The only person Jordan stop from winning a championship was Barkley. Oh and before you go there the conference finals don't apply cause Knicks and Pacers would've had to play another series with the winner of the west.

It's simply to make the point that "5 is better than 1" is as stupid as saying "7 is better than 6". There are so many other factors, that anyone who tries to paint it as a black and white single number verses single number argument is being ignorant.

Horrys 7 doesnt fit when the question was about 2 those people. He answered a question that was asked of him. This debate went where it shouldnt because Bron brought up Horry and other players.

Your opinion is noted, but comparing Horry to MJ, Bron etc is ignorant to me. Fuck the numbers, y'all are actually putting Horry in a conversation with greats. I'm done....y'all can have it!

several times yet dummies continue to bring it up.. lol

Bottom line is

How many league MVPs did Big Shot Bob win?
How many finals MVPs?
How many 1st team All-NBA teams?
How many 1st team All Defensive teams?
How many All-star appearances?

It's clear to anyone being objective that we're not talking about rings in general but rings won by elite players who are the leaders of their teams & all-time greats.

absolutely nothing. For example, Bron playing this way for most of his career with 3 rings, I'm good with Kobe comparisons. But if Bron ends up with only 1 or 2 rings, I don't think using the Horry argument is enough to shut a debate down. "Count da ringz" isn't end all be all. But Bron does need a little more to dead it

And he's right too. You can tell that the extreme bitterness (veiled as "competitive spirit") that defined Jordan and defines Kobe is so foreign to him that he genuinely doesn't get phased off this kind of stuff.

Lebron is doing it his way. Kobe tried to do it just like Jordan but he fail to realize you can't be better than Jordan at what he did. The only way to be in the conversation with being better than Jordan is to create your own idenity that can't really be associated with how Jordan played. I think Lebron is just a totally different player than Jordan and as years to come more young players will try to emulate Lebron play than Jordan because its effective and its how basketball in my eyes should be played. Jordan was a great player but Lebron all around game is crazy. Do you think its a coincidence after only one championship the comparison is there? I love Jordan but I think he really feel jealous or threaten by what Lebron is becoming.

On the real, mostly anyone with sense knows that MJ is still the king of the hill...

BUT...That doesn't mean Bron has to kiss the man's ass...Dude understands that he is the best player on the planet TODAY...And yeah, his argument is right...MJ isn't the greatest because of the rings...(that's always been a dumb argument).....

He's the greatest because of HOW he got those rings and the way he specifically dominated the game (at 6'6) like it has never been dominated before....

I'm glad Bron spoke up...I'm Team Jordan....But Bron said the right thing...

As unstoppable as LeBron has become...I don't think that the Heat measure even closely to the Classic Bulls Teams. Their strengths are the Bulls Strengths...Rodman would Eat Bosh's lunch...Mike would have D Wade....and Scottie on Bron Bron? That would be a BATTLE that would leave LeBron exhausted on both sides of the court.

Off topic but it had to be said.

Let's not romanticize those Bulls teams TOO much. Outside of a main trio, they were mostly forgettable role players or players past their prime who had well defined niches on the roster.

kobe's reaction would have been counting to six compulsively while hyperventilating into a brown paper on which he'd written a list of teammates he wanted traded.

you're absolutely right that this generation is the first really removed from the shadow of jordan.

I agree and I'm happy about it for the sake of the game. The next Jordan thing just about ruined at least a decade of ball to me. Every 6'4" to 6'9" negro was out there faking the funk when they could've been much better as themselves or something else other than fake MJs.

MJ tips his hat with all of that 'I wish I was still playing' talk...cheese eyes got green eyes seeing these cats being big deals without having to have a monopoly on the league cuz there's so a gang of money to be made, mad channels and websites of (over)coverage to soak up, and...dudes are doing it without killing themselves 'living the life' to do it. And...even with all of the coverage, only a few have the crazy 'you gotta win' pressure. I seem to remember everyone basking in MJ's greatness during those title runs. I don't remember a lot of 'if MJ don't win, he's a bitch' after they finally beat Detroit and pushed the half-dead horse that was the old LA over the edge.

Some of these dudes now are in legitimately GREAT shape, eating sensible dinners, and not needing to be at the club (at least not all the time) to feel fulfilled. Some cats have their kids on the scene with them at least while they are chillin at the All-Star Weekend Saturday night..it is a different kinda thing. There's gonna be a lotta dudes who will have excellent 13th and 14th years without any convo of them slipping ever having legs cuz they took better care of themselves. And I'm not sure if Cheese can just be happy for those cats. He gotta keep bringing up the jewelry. You don't see Russell doing that (at least not all the time). Dude got regrets methinks. He might've lived too hard and he sees Bron and nem and thinks he shoulda/coulda/woulda won more if he woulda laid offa them steaks, cigars, dranks, crazy bets, and hoes. Well...maybe not the hoes...and really...he was laying ON the hoes...whatever...cheese eyes got green eyes!

that have been the byproduct of the post-MJ era.

The title regardless of cast title talk (like MJ could have won a single title with any of those Cleveland teams), the 'last shot guy' corrolary (as if Mike didn't pass to Kerr & Paxson in big spots), the manufactured grudges/forced-tensity-regardless-of-personality bit, and on and on.

Bron is doing a combination of things on the floor that we've never seen one man do before, all while doing it his way & with a dedication to making the correct basketball play above all else.

If he continues to do so at this level into his early 30's, the sport will benefit more than it did by the past two decades of stars trying in vain to be Like Mike.

Just wondering... have yall seen the ahmad rashad interview where he said this. Because i first saw the quote when it was singled out. But after seeing the interview its not the same. He was sorta indecisive and then finally he was like well if i gotta choose i'll take Kobe because of the rings.
Jordan was giving Lebron props when he first responded.

I originally read the quote and even in the quote he was fair to Lebron. He said if I'm going to choose between the two thing the determining factor would be the rings.

That's not slighting Lebron at all...

Since that portion of the interview aired, it makes Jordan look real good

What Jordan said was trying to seperate two great players.

When you compare great players that in the same class, then Championships become a factor. And for Jordan it's enough of a factor to put Kobe over Lebron

For someone to use Robert Horry or Buschler as a reason not dismiss Jordan's comments is ridiculous.

Besides rings are a huge factor. I've never heard any great player not define the success of their season by championships or their career by rings. Only players who haven't won any or as much as they expected try to diminish the ring count

Rings don't matter when its certain NBA player vs NBA player, but all of a sudden when it comes to measuring certain QB vs QB its a valid point. When do they matter?

Just for a disclaimer, Bron is better than Kobe, hope nobody gleams that I'm saying the opposite from my post.

that's their standard. So if it's good enough for them, then it's good enough for me to use when trying to seperate one great players from another

Don't confuse me in saying that it's the only factor becsause it isn't. But it is a significant factor.

and on your QB point, because the QB impacts that team more than any 1 player on the squad it matters.

Using the same logic, that's why it matters in the NBA also. Basketball is a game where 1 player can greatly change outcome of a game more than any other. ( hence what all the Lebron supporters would say about his old Cle squad not having anyone. Because to say that, they would also be saying Lebron's impact on a team is great enough to take a sorry as squad to the Finals)

So for me the NBA and QB are looked at the same way

if so, I can't remember

and it's starting to feel like insecurity on his part

borderline sad and pitiful

with the rumors of him attempting a comeback at 50

I get the impression that he doesn't have anything fulfilling in his life

other than playing basketball

family, baseball, golf, CHA, Jordan Brand, etc...

nothing can fill the void in his life

I hope he does come back and tries to guard Bron

so we can hear him change his tune

and I hope Kobe learns from this

that when he walks away and retires, stay gone!

that's really all there is to it. He and Kobe both are convinced you have to be a complete sociopath when competing or else you'll be viewed as weak.

But this current crop of players just wants to play basketball, they're not angry about anything, they understand that they're rich and that they're living their life long dreams and that they're truly fortunate. Honestly, what does a Chris Paul or a LeBron James or a Kevin Durant have to be bitter about?

AND they're living more complete lives than that miserable Ross' rack jeans wearing bastard ever did. CP3 takes care of his son, Bron is putting food in about 30 different mouths. They're happy.

I think Jordan's bitterness toward this new generation stems from him legitimately not being able to understand why today's stars don't play angry, which in turn leads him to believe they're soft. I'm sure it's a big part as to why he can't build a fucking team to SAVE HIS LIFE; he's convinced the league is full of pussies and he trusts no one. He throws these darts at LeBron, and maybe they were valid criticisms like 6 years ago. But today? Come on. LeBron could play any 2 Bobcats at once like Goldberg taking on Glacier and Juventud Guerrera in a handicap match and still making them look stupid.

Michael Jordan is a sad old lonely and out of touch man, and I applaud LeBron for not saying the same and stating the obvious.

I have no idea what post I replied in

and I don't feel like searching for it

but if you project Bron's career

he will threaten for the scoring title

and will finish top 5 in points scored, top 10 in assists, and top 20 in rebounds

all-time

if that projection holds

it's simple math to say Bron is a better basketball player

people can hold onto the rings metric

but Bron has the chance to destroy ever other metric

for Jordan to make statements like this

only validates Bron's assault on the throne

He didn't say SHIT in derogatory fashion about LeBron. Y'all are better than this, to take a soundbyte out of context then twist it up, fuck is this Fox News?

I'm not even gonna get into the rest of all these bullshit ass theories y'all are putting out here. We're not even two years from one of the biggest sitting down to pee sessions and after ONE RING, and a nice run of regular season dominance, y'all are projecting him better than the best player of the modern era? Motherfuckers acting like Jordan ever played with two scorers on his team like Wade and Bosh or that Jordan didn't put up 31.2 points on 56% shooting from the field, 11.4 DIMES, 6.6 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 1.4 blocks in his first NBA finals, y'all are a fucking disgrace.

I'm not even trying to shit on Bron, but fuck, can't we just enjoy his career then talk AFTER he's done?

When you're "THIS GREAT AND THIS DOMINANT AND DOING NOTHING THAT'S EVER BEEN DONE BEFORE" in a sport where only five players per team can be on the floor at a time, he better gotdamn well win at least FIVE championships before his career is done. This is the last time UNTIL we get to that point that I will even VIEW one of these stupid ass "Lebron v. MJ" posts, much less entertain the damn conversation.

Jordan and Kobe would pull all there hair out of there heads if they played on those cavs teams and jordan and kobe ain't have much hair in years.

give Bron a Phil Jax as his coach and he probably has 4-5 rings already.

nobody has seen anything like Lebron ever. not with the way the game flows through him.
