Zeller's struggling because they're playing extremely physical down low with him, and Oladipo has gotten burned a couple of times cheating for a steal on defense... but this team is so deep that you really don't need stellar performances from your two best to beat a team like Illinois on the road.
Jordan Hulls is the whitest looking player in college basketball today.

What the fuck. That's five perfectly good fouls we need against Leslie/Howell.
I'm not overly concerned considering Brown is out... but Brown really wasn't what killed us last time. It was Leslie and Howell crushing us on the boards and getting plenty of second chance points right by the bucket.
Gonna be an important game for Mason to stay out of foul trouble. Cuz Marshall still plays like a 7 foot chicken with his head cut off.

WOW. College basketball is so amazing.
Indiana, especially Zeller, just struggled with Illinois's physical defense tonight. The Illini live and die by jumpers, and Indiana gave them soooo many relatively easy looks in the last five minutes. Oladipo has great body control but the handle got sloppy...
... and that last inbounds play. FLAWLESS execution by Illinois, totally conned them. They were standing around clueless.

They couldn't hit anything against Wake a couple games ago. Been on fire ever since. 10 threes already tonight? With Brown out, and Scott Wood now injured, this thing's just about over.

It was the first game without Ryan Kelly where they had any sort of rhythm and any sort of functioning offense. It was all scrap ball and isos before then, just sloppy on both ends.

I'd love to at least split the series this year, but performances like this are making me hope for no blow outs. You never know in a rivalry game though.

Glad the first game is at Cameron... we theoretically should have Ryan Kelly back by the one at the Dome. Which would make me infinitely more confident, for obvious reasons.

but he's complained about the lack of excitement in the crowd due to the boring style, the players looking like they're not having any fun, questioning why is Muhammed not in the game, putting his play by play partner on the spot and asking him what direction do you think the program needs to go in...you'd probably have to hear for yourself but you can tell he doesn't bang with Howland at all. Apparently this is a running theme whenever Walton calls these Pac 10 games featuring UCLA but this is the first time I watched.

Although Howell was hitting those mid-rangers with ease over Plumlee on the other end, Plumlee was overpowering Leslie and outfinessing Howell on the other end. They had to slap him just to stop him. Shit was AWESOME TO WATCH.
We really need to keep feeding him. I know it's not the Duke offense style... but he's legitimately one of the most skilled big men in the country.

not sure why theyre considered bad losses.
I still think from top to bottom, guard play, inside presence, they're a better team than everyone else. My only doubt is Crean in March.
edit, as far as us beating them in Columbus. Yea right. Any thought of that went out the window last night.
I have a feeling Indiana wins easily unless we get another big game from Laq AND a Herculean effort from DeShaun to offset our interior defense. Amir is gonna have his hands full with an angry Zeller. Craft better not try to go one on one on offense at all either, or I'm gonna be cursing at my TV.

notoriously poor in closing out games. A great recruiter, although a huge douche (i.e. each loss he refuses to do post game interviews), he's a mediocre coach especially in tight games.
