"Floyd to fight Devon Alexander (swipe via his twitter)"
Floyd Mayweather @FloydMayweather
The negotiations for my fight are almost done. The front runner is IBF Champion Devon Alexander. It’d be a unification bout at welterweight.
meh fighter, but WAY more interesting/better than robert guerrero. alexander has hand speed so it might be good, though honestly i think he's a lil small to beat floyd. didn't even think of him as an opponent because i didn't know GBP promoted him, apparently he signed a co-promoter deal with them recently. anyway good tune up fight.

he's had a nice career. My pops and his pops are somehow related. I never really tried to get that deep into the hows, though. The Family Arena where he fought Matthyse (sp?) is around the corner from my crib. My pops and nem were DEEP heading to that fight. He tried to get me to roll, but I was cool on a bunch of 60+ cats rollin out to a fight, lol.

ain't really taking too much u say on boxing seriously if it's an agenda linked to it devon alexander only has 2 fights at welter, and he was the smaller man both times dude was a jr. welter not even two yrs ago (and not even a big jr welter) he's smaller than lucas matthysse (who whupped his ass) for goodness sakes (body mass not just height) http://i50.tinypic.com/9915xz.jpg
damn just peeped u said he looked "fantastic" at 147, lol. yea u trolling
Arguments could be made for this fight, but a "fun" fighter is one thing that Devon has not been any time in recent memory. He's probably the least "fun" top welterweight. And I'm a guy that is often entertained by quality defensive fighting, sticking-and-moving, etc.
I mean, the guy made a Maidana fight boring. C'mon.
It would be foolish to think that this means the fight is a done deal, but if it does happen I can't imagine it being very entertaining. Alexander hasn't done anything exciting since the uppercut he landed on Urango three years ago.
When he fights offensively against anyone who can time him (Kotelnik, Matthysse) he gets hit a lot because he is so predictable and doesn't move his head when/after he throws. When he just waits and counters all night (Bradley, Maidana, Bailey) he uses his speed more effectively but he also stinks the entire place out.
I don't necessarily think he'd be a safer choice than Guerrero, but he's really one of the few top fighters who I just never enjoy watching fight, whether he's fighting offensively or defensively.
And considering he should probably be 2-3 in his last five fights I don't think he's really earned it either--convincing and boring wins over Maidana and Bailey are not any better than convincing and exciting wins over Aydin and Berto, and the decisions against Matthysse and especially Kotelnik were suspect.

mainly because alexander is young and athletic and when he was a prospect he was seen as a potential "next floyd" because of his boxing skill and athleticism(see: broner) problem is we haven't seen any of that since bradley destroyed him. still don't fully understand what happened to dude floyds hands are probably still faster but at least alexander has comparable handspeed and probably faster footwork at this stage in their careers so he might be able to move around and pick his shots enough to force floyd to become an aggressor and make the fight more interesting/entertaining problem is dude hasn't really brought his pop up to 147 with him and floyd could fight at 154 full time at this point so i'm not sure he'll be able to get any respect if he tries to stay inside with floyd and outbox him on the inside to prove a point i could see dude getting knocked out before the 8th round

guess push come to shove alexander could just throw the belt in the fucking trash ridderick bowe style and keep trucking guessing a devon alexander fight wouldn't have a hefty void contract fee built in since his opponent is a no name, maybe GBP will eat the cost on that

and no head movement.. I mean dude just can't win, until he loses, which in turn means he can't win... lol ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <---- 5.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dlgiritpmfo

are starting to admit that dude systemically maps out his fights to minimize danger and maximize profit there's 0% chance he fights manny now. there is no enemy to rail against so what you're left with is paying $60 to watch fights you don't care about enjoy
floyd's only going to fight 2-4 more times. devon doesnt deserve to be in the same ring as him. especially after he bitched up against timothy headley. he has NO chance. ZeRO
