"Redskins fans rooting against the Ravens are jealous & ignorant"
these fools are putting local envy over actual history/rivalry
the OG Gibbs Skins had MANY battles w/ the 9ers for NFC supremacy &, frankly, came out on the short end most of the time
Montana, then Young & them constantly dulled our shine & minimized our stature in our greatest years
yet these hate & envy filled Redskins fans are on a mission to tear down the local little brother b/c they're annoyed by coworkers in purple & bandwagon fans...
petty
jealous
ignorant of real team history
the Ravens are not a rival, except in the preseason
making out fanbase look all petty & weak minded
smh
go Ravens

familiarity breeds contempt, the DC & Bmore markets kinda have a unique sporting relationship because most of these people grew up with the others' baseball and/or football team as their closest 'local' team, collegiately they sorta share the Terps & they've even had the same NBA team play in both cities as well.
Once the newer teams (Ravens & now Nats) established themselves on the field & with their fanbases who defected, it's pretty unavoidable for feelings not to get in the way when these are the people you're interacting with at work or out & about.
I was only in DC for about 48 hours last month so I didn't get a full feel for the sporting climate & as an Eagle fan I sure didn't wanna talk football this past December but I'm guessing DC (who were/are in a bit of a sports renaissance) is a little bit mad at how things have played out this late-fall/early-winter with the Nats' choke, the playoff RGIII injury fallout & Gio getting popped while having to hear from Ravens fans trying to have the laugh when things looked a lot different when these two played a hard-fought game featuring an earlier RGIII injury.
Both sides are too close to the flame for a spark or two not to pop up on 'em & make 'em feel some kind of way.
It's sports.
At least that gives folks some skin in the game (no pun intended), I really have no emotional investment in tomorrow's outcome so fortunately or unfortunately I'm gonna end up going hard making a financial one.
But I'd stop short of calling a Skin Fan rooting against the Ravens pathetic, pathetic is going to be the upcoming subset of Laker fans rooting against the Clippers in the playoffs.
Now that shit is the true mark of a entitlement & pettiness, I can see it lightly bubbling but I got a feeling it's gonna be heading towards a boil come spring.
They got a right to hate on the local rival that's about to win the big game. You think Nationals fans want the Orioles to win before them? You think the Dodgers want the Angels to do anything? Ain't no Knick fan want Brooklyn to do better than them
Don't matter about the history. That's the LOCAL rivalry, and I'm sure Ravens fans would give a big fat FU to Redskins fans that were in the Superbowl
