"Beckham to PSG confirmed"

they're doing the press conf right now. Having Zlatan was dope but this makes it official: PSG is now part of the big clubs of the soccertainment-industrial complex (Ligue 1's relative weakness be damned, it's all about the Champions League I guess). I'm glad we're gonna sell a bajillion jerseys in Asia, but this doesn't exactly solve any pressing issues on a sports level.
Oh well, at least the drama is over...until this summer when the Mourinho rumor starts heating up again.

For the record, my teams:
MLB: Mets / Soccer: PSG
NCAA BB: Arizona / NCAA FB: Michigan
NBA: Spurs / NFL: Jets

I disagree with that. Beckham did conquer america, he did put MLS on the map. He was the face of MLS and the face of the Galaxy.

Before he joined MLS, the league didn't have the rich foundation that it has now.

Galaxy profited and so did MLS. His existence was a huge success for both entities.

Beckham's on the field and off the field stardom increased the value of the league, and his presence in the league made former euro stars less myopic about playing in MLS

LA won titles on his watch, and all eyes were on beckham.

there's his obvious age/inability and I imagine he won't be moving his family from London (they rererelocated right?) or seeing much play time. It's just a "WE'VE ARRIVED!" moment for PSG, which is sort of sad compared to the other places he could have landed (Australia, Dubai) and their attempts to ARRIVE with a big name.

But good on him for not accepting a salary while farcically extending his career to play billboard with another club.

of course it's a cynical move on the team's part, heck even Beckham's, but if the team manages to start cruising to the title (which is far from guaranteed) he'll see increased PT. And I feel like he'll be a good contribution to the locker-room. I'm guessing Posh Spice had a say in the move as well, what with her fledgling fashion career, so that surely contributed to him coming over.

Is this a year (or two) late? Yeah, sure. But I've somewhat given up on making sense of Paris' moves for now. Petro-soccer doesn't have any real tangible rules (unless you adhere to Qatar's pseudo long-term view), I've sort of come to terms with it.

Bekcham in Australian football would just be a hideous, over-muscular, career-ending tackle from behind waiting to happen. the games I've watched from over there were probably somewhere on par with the NCAA Final Four.

they're not even paying him this year and even if they did, they got money to burn, so who cares? he'll get about as much PT as Bodmer did, but he'll sell a few more jerseys

it's a big meh, but not an L

and if there's someone better at spraying longballs to any quadrant of the field FROM any quadrant of the field in the world than Beckham right now, it would be news to me.

so yeah, his mobility is lacking, but his right foot is still the most effective ICBM in the British arsenal.

Yes. He is still one of the best free kickers in the game, and that foot of his is still active.

The IQ is there as well, and he will always be rich with popularity.

However, I want PSG to be unhinged! Beckham will bring a lot of leadership to the team. I don't want that

lol

LYON!

a good core of experienced players + interesting youngsters definitely makes this one of the most intriguing squads in the league. They play pretty fun soccer too. Although you could've gone full-hipster in your pick and gone with Lorient haha
