"Defense wins games. Running>Passing. "

Don't believe otherwise. All this "its a passing league" is propaganda and bullshit.

The reason the league tries its hardest to alter rules to spike the passing game, is because running the damn ball has always prove to be more effective and the best strategy for victory and control. Plenty of offensive schemes have been created to utilize a passing attack, but good old fashioned running the ball sets up the pass regardless.

Why are top defenses year after year so successful?
Why are the top passers usually sitting watching the Superbowl as a spectator?
Why are offensive coordinators and coaches recycled far more frequently than defensive ones.

Want to get a good OC, find a great running back coach or o-line coach. They know the core of what it takes to dominate the ball.

This Superbowl will be great because you have two great D's and two exceptional running backs.

pass happy teams win (new orleans and green bay)
run heavy teams win (steelers, giants, whoever win this bowl)

you dont need an elite defense
you dont need an elite offense

you need a complete team that complements each other more than anything

Even the bountyhunters...

if you have a good D then you don't have to have a top tier offense.

If you have a top tier offense, don't mean shit if you don't have a good D

Balance is great, but you have to have an x factor on D to do anything in the league.

Green Bay had elite on both side when they won

>Even the bountyhunters...

25 ranked that season...not elite got hot at the right time...and ran into peyton lol

>if you have a good D then you don't have to have a top tier
>offense.

and if you have a top tier offense you dont need a top tier defense
see New Orleans

>If you have a top tier offense, don't mean shit if you don't
>have a good D
what ranking constitutes good D?

>Balance is great, but you have to have an x factor on D to do
>anything in the league.

San Fran has elite offense and defense
Baltimore has neither.....

NE - 2nd passing, 20th rushing, 31st total D

NYG - 5th passing, 32nd rushing, 27th D

You pretty much need a good offensive line, a good defensive line and a good quarterback. If you have those three things, you will make the playoffs without fail and have a chance to win.

The problem with your post here is that the top passers aren't at home watching the Super Bowl. Every Super Bowl for the last ten years had either Manning, Brady or Big Ben in it with guys like Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning, Kurt Warner and Drew Brees making appearances, too. It's been a long time since a shitty quarterback won. That was all the buzz with Baltimore winning with Dilfer and then Tampa with Brad Johnson or whoever. Over history though those are the two worst, you've got some other slightly surprising ones (Plunkett, Williams .... that might be it) but overall you've needed a great QB and a formidable passing game to win since forever. Conversely, your thing about "two exceptional running backs" absolutely does not hold true. Who were the Patriots' "two exceptional running backs?" The Giants'? That is five of the last 12 Super Bowls. Green Bay? Tampa? New Orleans? None of the biggest homers for those teams could argue they had "two exceptional running backs."

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
