-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

down as the most epic failure of all star talent in the history of the league

Even if they manage to get a 7th or 8th seed in the postseason (which is abt as high a seed as they can get at this point), the season would still be a huge disappointment and unlike anything we've seen from a team w/this level of talent.

So what they've missed Nash for several gms...and really he's the only laker whose missed significant time

w/a lineup of Kobe, Howard, Gasol, and Artest and whoever they throw in at the pg position should still be competitive and win some gms

There's no excuse for how pathetic they are, especially on defense and even if Nash played every gm this season, their defense would still be porous and defense is still their biggest issue

Lebron is the baddest and D Wade is too cool.

Dwight gotta go to the rockets or the mavericks and play with a teammate who will embrace him. too much smog in la la land.

gasol is a dead man walking and problem is nobody wants him.

he has been shattered in laker land.
MWP is doing good and biting his tongue.

Gary Payton and Karl Malone are smiling in there in graves thinking back to the sacrifice of the 03-04 year and scrunity. however this laker bunch shows that what looks good on paper ain't legit

and from watching the games

I'm kind of surprised that he's getting +30min/gm

because there are long stretches where I don't notice him

I forget he's out there

his season high is 16pts?

I just thought going from what he did with a PHX roster

that at the very least his numbers wouldn't go down

feeding Kobe, D12 and Pau

I can't understand why his assists are down

considering how many points/gm the LAL score

I also expected him to be able to get more shots

with the defense having to stay home on Kobe and D12

IDK, just thought he'd be better than this

a player making the game easier for his teammates, sure. but making them better? it's not like kareem didn't know how to make a skyhook before the big o or magic started feeding him. they just gave him the ball in his sweet spots is all.

and for the record, kobe has never made the game easier for his teammates...ever.

certain players allow you utilize that ability to it's full potential is all

Is Ariza a better player right now than he was before he went to LA? Arguable. Was he better playing with Kobe in LA? without question. Same with Shannon Brown. There are others. But the point is you can make players playing with you. Nash did it for years. Bron does it. shit ain't that deep.

which makes it funny that vee is claiming Kobe can't make the guy who's job it is to make Kobe's (as well as the rest of the team) job better...better. It's like saying "Jerry Rice isn't making Joe Montana's game better passing to other receivers"....wat???

Shannon and Ariza both said that Kobe worked with them constantly on their jumpers. Caron, after being dealt, spoke about how he emulated Kobe's routines and approach. Both LO and Pau have said that Kobe helped them with their focus and approach to the game.

Making teammates better isn't simply passing them the ball...it can be far more than that. I understand criticizing Kobe for gunning and alienating but statements like this w the extreme language are what show me just how biased some of you guys are.

I mean, Shannon and Ariza went from nobodies to critical contributions on championship teams...each earning significantly larger contracts than they had seen before. Smush freaking Parker hasn't been able to get another job in the NBA after leaving the Lakers.

Dude has helped players with their actual skillsets and mentality...and makes the game easier for them on the court.

Y'all wanna sit here and talk about shit like your mind isn't already made up. I could give you countless examples of dude making players better and it wouldn't matter. I mean T-Mac singled Kobe out in his retirement press release to thank him for constantly pushing him to be better. Making players better goes far beyond on the court, you don't just simply show up for games and get better.

Again, criticize Kobe for valid things, I'm all for it, I do it all the time...but a dude saying its 'absurd' that Kobe made his teammates better reeks of typical OKS extremism.

so then Magic made Bird a better player

and MJ made everybody in the league better

FOH

it's called competition

that's why you're a professional athlete

IMO

it's the most valid criticism of Kobe

and it was glaring when people were debating best Laker of all-time

Magic could grab 4 guys out of the stands and give you a run

Kobe, ehh, not so much

when we're debating anything Kobe

it's on the GOAT level

using the, well how many other players, as a defense

is invalid

we're talking GOATs

like I said

when the debate came up about GOAT LAL

it was the deciding factor for Magic, IMO

I don't know why ya'll take 2nd so personal

in alot of debates

Kobe is #2 GOAT

and that's not an insult

but don't try to convince me he made all of these guys better players

that either went to another franchise

and are putting up comparable numbers

or were once franchise players

and sacrificed some part of their game to play along side of Kobe

c'mon

it's a valid criticism

.

and I sincerely came in here to discuss Nash

man ya'll some bithces!

It's a valid criticism in that context. But not everybody's criticism is the same. Magic is the greatest laker ever btw. I've never argued other wise. I've just seen on here the need to present Kobe's career in terms of what he wasn't more often than what he was/is.

>and I sincerely came in here to discuss Nash

I guess according to okplakerstans Kobe deserves most of the credit for those former player's success. Its not a coincidence that Bean is now having trouble playing w/some of the same players he once had success with when Phil was the coach.

Its everyone's fault but Beans smh.

disregarding last night

we just saw a +30pt night with 18fgas

they'll figure out how to get him those touches consistently

especially now that he looks to be almost 100%

(still doesn't have all of the explosion off the floor, but he's back to swatting shit on d)

but comparably to Nash

at least D12 is still boarding

leading the league?

I would have expected Nash to have put it together by now as well

to the Kobe narrative

he just now decided to dedicate more effort on the defensive end

which would also lead me to believe Nash is going to have to do more on offense

has been the problem. Putting Kobe on good players won't mean he's going to lock people down every night. But it will keep him from ball watching and losing his man, which he's done for the past 5 or 6 years. He's still a decent on ball defender when he wants to be though.

he has played in what like a dozen games? maybe 15?

not easy to find your place on his team. his numbers have dipped a little but that's not hard to imagine since he doesn't dominate the ball like he did.

he doesn't look assertive out there and i know what you mean about not noticing him for stretches. those developments don't really surprise me though.

one of the selling points for bringing ' in, was his and Nash's previous success

I would have expected Nash to have the easiest transition to an ' style offense

being that the time he was running it, was when it was most successful

I guess assertive as you put it is what I would describe it as

he seems like a 4th option

and as El alluded to, he should be shooting more

90, 50, 40...

Last night's game is a prime example: Compare how active he was in the first quarter to the third quarter where he made 3 defensive, tired mistakes (each not moving his feet) and missed a bunny at the rim that he'd normally just slam.

He's def getting there but his stamina has been impacted the most.

but to the D12 stamina point

you're probably right

where I see it is when starts crying and flailing around

when he's in the game and giving his full potential

he's not getting those silly fouls for pushing and shoving (for the most part)

and he's not beside himself every time there's contact and no whistle

when he's on, he's just playing and dominant

which I'm starting to see more of

still has some way to go

but he's almost there

I'd expect to see 100% after the all-star break

If it was said before the season

that at the all-star break

Nash would not yet have a 20 point game

I would think that would be concerning

For a player of his caliber

I would have expected at least 1 break out game

maybe his legs aren't all the way there yet

which would make the +30min/gm even more concerning

IDK

it's starting to feel like the LAL have 3 starters trying to play their way into shape
