"NBA Observations 1-16-13"

Full slate tonight!

Bulls @ Raptors - Marquis Teague vs Calderon/Lowry

Pacers @ Magic - Is Vucevic better than Hibbert? Did the Sixers fuck up?

Nets @ Atlanta - Keith Bogans vs Marquis Teague's brother

Hornets @Celtics - Anthony Davis vs Rajon Rondo. A.D. gonna shrug off them KG insults.

Nuggets @Thunder - DeAndre Liggins! And Iggy's Condor jaw gonna get lit up by the Durantula.

Rockets @Mavericks - P-Patt vs Dirk? Sub-plot: Harden vs Condiments

Grizzlies vs Spurs - Z-bo and Duncan pre-game dunk contest on Nerf Hoop. Windmills a plenty.

Wizards @ Kings - John John vs Big Cuz. It's like when Jimmy Snukka fought Andre the Giant.

Cavaliers vs Trail Blazers - Irving vs Lillard. Kyrie be looking sad as shit. Makes me uncomfortable. They gonna go at each other's throats.

Heat @ Warriors - Jorts! Why are their records so similar? Mark Jackson! NYC STAND UP!

In response to Reply # 0

Shump may come back and start on Thursday in London

The Knicks are worried Rasheed Wallace (foot) will miss an extended period of time and possibly the rest of the season, two league sources told ESPNNewYork.com's Ian Begley.
Considering Wallace has already missed more than a month with the injury and there's been no clear return date set, we'd say the "extended period of time" has already happened. Now, whether Wallace returns this season appears to be of legitimate concern, although not for fantasy owners. Wallace had minimal value when healthy, but this report appears to confirm that Sheed's foot injury is much more serious than the team has let on.

they're either coming back to the pack, or the league has figured them out, or guys who haven't played much are hitting a wall.

I think Daryl's gonna make the deal, whatever it is, if he can get it.

No need to keep this team together if *that* deal is out there.

When you look at the overall picture were still 2 games over.500 and in the 7/8 seed, but given those two win streaks we had and how well we were playing this is depressing.

It looks like a totally different team. Were barely cracking 100 pts now. It shows we really need a 4 that can help on the glass. Omer just gets swarmed despite getting his 15 rebounds.

Im patient...it doesnt have to be Milsap or Gortat now...

I agree on Lin's agression. I mean I dont get when he decides to turn it on now. I think he's scared to attack early because there are times he misses, then when he misses and misses jumpshots, he gets benched. He just needs to go though. He's shown time and time again he can get to the rim vs 85% of teams at least and once he makes a few layups, even those 3s start falling,

After Tyreke missed the 2nd ft BADLY....this dude said that 'he thinks' Sacramento had a play on where Tyreke was missing the ft intentionally to get a rebound...to get fouled again to potentially get a 3 point lead. That he 'saw something' on the play. The play by play guy was basically like stfu, in kinder terms.

WHY WOULD ANY COACH INTENTIONALLY MISS A FT WHEN ONLY LEADING BY ONE? Fucking Christ, the sheer fucking stupidity of some of these alleged professional announcers continually astonishes me. I'd move this team tommorrow to Seattle just to punish Sac for the audacity of hiring a person who would say some stupid shit like that. Good grief.

Intentionally miss a fucking ft while only up one? And then to try and act like it's a legit claim? Lmao, so ridiculously bad.

and i don't know how you could actually WATCH that game and not see what i've been complaining about for nearly two seasons. lillard run a pick and roll with an all-star who knows how to come off the screen, catch and POP.

tristan clumzos into the lane off the screen, because he CAN'T SHOOT.

and zeller too fuckin timid to shoot and he afraid of contact.

and if you EVEN THINKING about a lillard v. kyrie agenda, you do it on another board, because i like lillard and i need him to win ROY, but he ain't on kyrie level and he two years older, so fuck that garbage about 40 games.

Kyrie's handle is some next level shit but his decision making is, "I'mma beat my guy by scoring more than him"

who cares who he has to pass it to? ball rotation is a precious commodity with Kyrie starting the offense so why exactly should his teammates be busting ass to get on the other end of a pass that isn't forthcoming again?

he has the tools to be a great PG. sadly, he doesn't have the decision making to go with it yet. hanging 25+ on your opposition as a PG only indicates you're a ball hog.

and Lillard isn't my guy, I don't really care how he does. I *do* care that he knows how to pass the ball better than Kyrie already, though, cuz it means the rest of the Blazers will stay winning more games than Kyrie's Cavs for some time to come...

and kyrie doesn't even HAVE THE BALL half the time he's on the floor because they run the princeton, you know-nothing.

you clearly watch with biased eyes, prolly pissed every time kyrie HAD to fuckin score, because his teammates SUCK...and DID. every pull up, every cross and crazy ball spin off that glass after he left lillard's ass in the dust prolly pissed you off and you tricked yourself into thinking it was BAD point guard play. fuck outta here.

hanging 25+ with kyrie's shooting percentages night after night means he's better at scoring than other PG and people like you wanna define him and box him in into some bullshit ideal because you mad...just like idiots do with black QBs.

i told y'all when he was drafted that he was next evolution in PG play and...you ain't seen a nigga with all these tools...this efficient...maybe EVER...and y'all fuckin heated.

while running the Princeton, which is supposed to be a passing offense?

mmm hmmm, okay player.

that's some "the ball isn't fucking moving" shit if you ask me, and that starts and ends with the PG that would rather beat his man for a bucket than run a proper team offense.

so good on him for routinely whooping his individual defender. (too bad for Cleveland that doesn't add up to a lot of wins when that's your PG's first thought process)

Lillard's team lost tonight, but Lillard didn't get beat. he's going to stay winning more games than Kyrie as long as he knows other people in the same uniform need to eat along with him. game by game W-Ls will tip in his favor over time, because he actually PASSES in the offense instead of just going for his.

cuz if so dude might actually get a 15-10 from time to time.

he routinely collapsed the defense, then he routinely chucked it. tonight he made more than he missed (on 24 FGAs!) so the Cavs got out of Portland with a W, but it's THE REASON the Cavs are (and will remain) in the basement.

hate to be the one to break it to you, but basketball is a team game. every possession Kyrie crosses halfcourt, schools his man off the dribble, then shoots -- that's just one more possession where his teammates get it re-enforced that their job is to watch Kyrie play.

I watched the game. I watched him beat Lillard on an individual basis. I also watched a game where if the Blazers team sink open shots on the other end, they win. that's why Cleveland is (and will remain) sub .500.

feel good cuz you can pop your collar on RealGM tomorrow, but it's gonna be hard pushing the "Kyrie v. Lillard" agenda when the playoffs roll around ... year ... after year ... after year ...

HALF THE TIME...listen...dogg, there's fuckin TAPE on it...half the time, kyrie brings it, passes to a big in the fuckin high post, run to the wing and directs the offense off the fuckin ball. there, he either looks to cut to the bucket or find an opening to spot up. dude, you JUST WATCHED THIS.

now, if you mad because he took over the fuckin game down the stretch in the 4th and refused to pass to his sorry ass teammates...oh, he does that all the time. he's supposed to. he's the guy.

and the cavs are in the basement for the same damn reason the blazers are not close to being a title contender and will REMAIN a middling ass not-good-enough playoff team for YEARS, just like the hawks, jazz, suns, and a shit ton of other teams did/have over the last decade...because they don't have the talent to COMPETE at a certain level. cavs just ain't good, dogg. why you tryna put that on a 20 year-old nigga?

all this anger, because 20 year-old PGs ain't supposed to be THIS skilled in the block:

oh, he got that because he worked on his post moves all summer. 'cause he like to add nuances to his shit.

I'm just asking a PG to share the ball, is that too much since we're on the "next level" now? or do you seriously think 28th in the league in assits/gm is solely a result of Kyrie's professionally employed, multimillion paid teammates "sucking" at basketball?

Lillard can lose as many games as he wants, I don't really give a fuck about that. what I do give a fuck about? Lillard *still* knows enough to pass the fucking rock, which means the rest of his teammates can eat, which means ... well, I don't need to tell you again, just surf on over to nba.com and click "standings" and you'll see the evidence.

or don't. I know it's hard for you to let the dookie agendas die. why not just admit Coach K can only do so much when he only gets a guy for one year? wouldn't *that* be easier than trying to pretend Kyrie knows how to do anything besides dribble and shoot?

so yeah, he "sonned" Lillard.

good for him.

I trust he's sleeping well at the Nines in downtown Portland right now.

bad news is tomorrow he has to wake up again not trusting his teammates. then he has to go into another basketball game not trusting his teammates. and he has to spend a whole season not trusting his teammates. and before you know it he might just have a whole career of not trusting his teammates, but I guess the good news is that his ppg avg. will stay nice, so his agent won't have any trouble keeping him paid.

Coach K must be so proud.

that has to do with decision making. Kyrie has decided he's the best scorer on his team ergo he's going to shoot it. Lillard has decided it's his job as a PG to share the ball.

NOT

coincidentally Lillard's team has the better W-L record despite being a preseason favorite to be a lottery team, same as Kyrie's...

i'm interested. no, really, who do YOU think is the cavs best scorer, based on their skillsets. alonzo gee? waiters? tristan? i'm really curious.

you DO understand he's one of the best scorers on earth, PERIOD, right? and you realize he'll ALWAYS be the best scorer on the cavs, right?

isiah was always the best scorer on his teams, too. for reference. but isiah never played in the princeton. he ALWAYS had the ball.

but since you're such a hoop head, maybe you can school me -- who *usually* scores the most on championship teams? it's the PG? I haven't looked at the stats in a while, but based on how you're talking, I'm assuming the PG is responsible for the overwhelming majority of FGAs on winning teams...

>who *usually* scores the most on championship teams?

this is the problem with guys like you, you red aurebach library book reading muhfuckas...the guy who USUALLY scores the most on title teams is usually the most capable scorer...PERIOD. as i stated, isiah was the leading scorer on his teams. there's PLENTY of ways to build title teams, dogg. some ways just easier. usually a dominant big is easiest. actually a dominant wing guy is toughest to build around. the cavs are LUCKY AS FUCK to get another franchise guy that plays PG. and for the record, lebron's teams sucked his first two years and he didn't make the fuckin playoffs. not because he was somehow playing his position incorrectly, but because his teams fuckin sucked.

it's the
>PG? I haven't looked at the stats in a while, but based on
>how you're talking, I'm assuming the PG is responsible for the

no PG in the history of fuckin basketball is solely reponsible for FG attempts or percentages...you think could play with a fuckin gunner, you could play with a point forward...you know what...i'm going to sleep, you just don't know shit about basketball.

'night.

Kyrie's shooting out of necessity, not out of selfishness. Nobody decided that, it's the truth. He wouldn't be shooting nearly as much if he had an Aldridge, Batum, or even Wes Matthews. The 2nd best player on the team is Alonzo Gee...c'mon

You gotta be kidding me
There's an All-star, a borderline all-star, and a few decent players on Portland. There is NONE of that in Cleveland. The 2nd best player on Cleveland is known more for defense, and he's been hurt.

so Kyrie wouldn't ballhog so much if his teammates were better? what if Kyrie's teammates could be better if Kyrie didn't ballhog so much? ever thought about that? or did you seriously say to yourself "Nic Batum = borderline All-Star" when the preseason predictions came out. stop bullshitting. or did you seriously say "the team with the lowest bench production in the NBA would be 1 game over .500 in the West" did you really say that? the Blazers are outperforming expectations cuz they play like a TEAM, move the ball, and everyone hits shots. here's to hoping Kyrie is taking notes.

decent? first off -- did you really have Lamarcus > Kevin Love preseason? no, you probably didn't. do you really think Wes Matthews > any other SG in the West right now? like name ONE starting SG worse than West Matthews. then when you're done with that name two. it's a SHORT list. and Nic Batum is effective cuz he GETS THE BALL WHERE HE NEEDS IT, or do you really think he's initiating his own 17 pts/gm?

there are table-setters and there are ballhogs. using "shitty teammates" as an excuse doesn't prevent someone from being a ballhog.

Does Kyrie have ANYONE like that on his team, ANYONE?
And you realize when the Pistons were winning titles Isiah did take far more shots than anyone else on that stacked team? Why, because he was the best player

Wow, you honestly think that Kyrie averaged less points that his team would be better? You honestly think that Tristan Thompson, Alonzo Gee, Omri Casspi, CJ Miles, and others would get better if Kyrie wasn't scoring? You honestly think that Kyrie is holding these guys back because he shoots too much?

or did you
>seriously say to yourself "Nic Batum = borderline All-Star"
>when the preseason predictions came out. stop bullshitting.
>or did you seriously say "the team with the lowest bench
>production in the NBA would be 1 game over .500 in the West"
>did you really say that?
WHO CARES about the preseason predictions? Nobody had Brandon Jennings as an all-star or Carlos Boozer as an all-star either in the pre-season predictions. Nobody had the Lakers being terrible, or Golden State being this good in the preseason
Point: As of right now Batum is a borderline all-star. Who cares if they didn't say so in the pre-season...he's playing very well.

the Blazers are outperforming
>expectations cuz they play like a TEAM, move the ball, and
>everyone hits shots. here's to hoping Kyrie is taking notes.
Their TEAM is better than Cleveland's TEAM...there is nobody on Cleveland that's nearly as good as Aldridge or Batum. Matthews is solid and is still probably better than everyone on Cleveland. Waiters has potential but is very inconsistent. Outside of that, there isn't anyone that can really score outside of Kyrie.
That's like saying the Wizards would get more wins if they move the ball around...or the Bobcats.

>>There's an All-star, a borderline all-star, and a few decent

>done with that name two. it's a SHORT list. and Nic Batum is
>effective cuz he GETS THE BALL WHERE HE NEEDS IT, or do you
>really think he's initiating his own 17 pts/gm?
Let's handle a couple of things
I asked a question a while ago about the best PF in the West and I personally went with Zach Randolph, however
LA is outplaying K-Love because K-Love has missed damn near half the season. LA is balling, but lets not act that K-Love had a full season to work with
And if you want me to name SG's in the West, or in the NBA worse than Wes Matthews, well:
ATL starts Deshawn Stevenson (Lou Wills comes off the bench)
I don't even know who ORL starts (Reddick comes off the bench)
In the West:
OKC starts Thabo Sefolosha...and Matthews is BETTER than he is
He's also better offensively than Randy Foye and Tony Allen
As for Batum, it's not just that. He CAN and DOES create his own shot. He has a Luol Deng type of game, where he can get aggressive when he has to be, but stays in the cut and lets Lillard and LA be the primary options. Lillard isn't spoon-feeding Batum his points all the time. A lot of Batum's points are aggressive drives to the basket off the dribble.

And is there ANYONE on Cleveland as good as Batum or Aldridge? ANYONE?

>there are table-setters and there are ballhogs. using "shitty
>teammates" as an excuse doesn't prevent someone from being a
>ballhog.
If you think Kyrie Irving is a ball-hog, that's on you. But you said that if he shared the ball more Cleveland would have more wins which is completely false. If he's the first option, he's the first option, much like Derrick Rose was in Chicago. But on Cleveland, Irving doesn't have a Boozer or a Deng or a Batum or an Aldridge to pass the ball to. He's passing the ball to ALONZO GEE AND TRISTAN THOMPSON...come on

every Kyrie-esque possesion (oh yeah, I said it) he has directly hurts the team.

I don't care if it's make or miss, when Lillard crosses half court, engages a one-on-one defender, then chucks with zero ball movement on the possession, those are most usually the moments when the Blazers are on the wrong side of a run.

yeah, sometimes he makes, but it's only a temporary balm. the team wins when EVERYONE eats, not just Lillard.
