He's got a great future in coaching though so far he hasn't expressed a ton of interest in coaching above the amateur level. Anybody I have ever talked to that played with Phil in the NHL or had him at a developmental level as a coach said he was awesome. Even if they had him for a short time, he made an impact, had a nice convo with Nick Leddy about that last season.

the other guy i'd put into that category is kimmo timonen. he can shut guys down, move the puck and provide offense all without being big or overly physical.

Prohibitively early start times but they replay them during the early evenings

The game against Canada was really only bad one for the USA. They just handed the Czechs their ass the other day, seven unanswered goals in a drubbing. This Gibson kid is very good, got to see him play some in junior and in rookie camp, also met him a couple of times. Infinitely better prospect than McCollum. I don't know what happened to Malcolm here, I saw he got pulled. Was it bad defense or were the goals soft? Saw a couple went in from up high from McCabe.

Canada had the better team on paper but not by all that much. The Americans are going to be very competitive in this kind of competition. They don't have near the depth Canada has in their program--Canada could field at least two contention quality WJC teams and probably three Olympic teams-- but as far as their top 20-23? Yes, the Americans are going to be as good as anyone for a while.
