"Lin Lights Up The Garden (NY vs. Hou.)"

OH YEAH! I ain't forget!

This is night where yall said Lin was supposed to light up the Garden.

He got lit up for a triple dub last night by Calderone.
His team comes in one game under .500.

The last time the Knicks played the Rockets was the only game this season where we were not competitive.

LEGGO!

A guy at my job has two sets of Knicks season tickets in 223 and 225 and I think similar nets tickets (he says its the deal that comes with food).

He'll sell most of the tickets for me at face value If he still has them available so jut in I me some time before te game you wanna go to and ill ask him.

might as well try to see a good team.

I mean theyre cheap considering usual stubhub inflation, availability, etc. But its not like getting $30 seats.

Basically for 225 and 223--expect to pay around $100 per ticket --which is face value.

I will ask him though if he'd sell the tickets to wakc games like the Hornets that usually don't sell for cheaper.

Not that I got $ like that, but if tickets are cheaper to see a wack game so be it.
I just like going to games, no matter who it is (I went to a Wizards/Suns game back in my college days, only because my brother likes Jordan and I wanted him to see how wack he was with the Wizards...he dropped 44 that night)

2)pretty sure before the season started I came off that statement.

That Being said....that game against ny kickstarted him for a bit...havent seen too many rox games recently so I don't know if he's gon back to not being aggressive and chillin in the corner, shooting 3's but we'll see tonight.

ideal situation is knicks win and Lin plays well.

not like when spree returned to the garden. I was rooting for spree to put up numbers and get the W and cursing dolan along with him.

spree for van horn...where they do that at?

Just the Sixers alone traded him for Tim Thomas & Anthony Parker, traded Dikembe to get him back, then later traded him for Glenn Robinson.

And if I recall correctly, Dallas was still trading him like a year or two after he stopped playing.

though his SA outburst isn't likely to be replicated.

though he hasn't played well or consistent, scheme, personnel, and youth aren't all that conducive to Lin doing Lin things.

I believe the Knicks got caught up in the Lin shit, and got smoked because of it in Houston.

I don't see that happening tonight, and he'll get a nice show of support, and have a moment or two.

the Knicks should win by 10 tho.

oh and starks

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Amare Stoudemire (knee surgery) could be cleared for practice on Tuesday, according to the New York Post.

Mike Woodson said that STAT was getting closer, and even if it doesn't happen on Tuesday, it's clear that Stoudemire is inching closer to a return. While his exact role is uncertain, Stoudemire should be owned in all formats at this point.

Discusses if they can play together. Either the sub pattern has to chance, coaching has to change, or Lin's getting dealt. It's early, so I'd think 1 or 2 get worked out before we get to 3. Daryl's nuts, so anything possible come deadline

the real kicker is the rocket's pnr personnel, and how tyson chandler with no offensive moves, is a game changer as a roll man.

http://nba.si.com/2012/12/17/jeremy-lin-james-harden-houston-rockets/?sct=hp_t12_a5&eref=sihp

The off-ball issues are one thing, but Asik adds another complication to the way that Lin plays with the ball in his hands. Lin did an outstanding job of producing in New York through a bunch of lineup combinations, but one of the universals was the presence of center Tyson Chandler — a limited offensive player in a general sense, but one whose strengths provided Lin with all kinds of room in the pick-and-roll. The threat of a lob looms through almost every stage of a Chandler pick-and-roll, and with defenders having to account for that possibility, Lin was able to dash to open angles or pull up for uncontested looks.

Playing with Asik is entirely different, despite his improved offensive game. Opponents often opt to leave Asik uncovered until the last possible moment, when they’re able to bother his shot attempts around the hoop or foul him outright in a prudent play of the percentages. (Asik shoots 57.1 percent at the free-throw line.) Lin, meanwhile, is smothered throughout the entire sequence. Several defenders often blanket the attempts Lin is able to create, as his pick-and-rolls with Asik involve two players who must work toward and score from the same tiny semicircle around the hoop.

3's didnt fall.

Melo creates so much space.

And look, I love Chandler for all the intangibles....but this DPOY shit? He doesn't block naan shots, and people get WAAAAY too many looks at the rim. I mean right thru uncontested.

and it's happened twice against houston. not a good look.

Its actually easier to write these watching games from home cause you can replay shit. We had good seats 2 rows behind bobby boxscore central aka press row, shouted out Spero Dedes and Alan Hahn.

I was telling Cenario early on that they ran two plays they havent run all season or for a long time for lin.

1) was a backdoor cut on the baseline for an easy lay up and one was the baseline backdoor that I think went to Marcus Morris (he got fouled). They ran that a lot with Harden in the first 3 games, but stopped using it til now.

Overall a great team effort. Still disgusted by the defense in the first qtr. We cant let teams shoot 65%.
This was the first and best game that Harden and Lin had together. They took turns with the rock and it improved both of their efficiency. harden's turnovers went down, he shot a nice percentage, and Jeremy shot a nice percentage, though his turnovers went up.

I dont know if Mchale was saving it for this game or what--but they definitely ran stuff to get Jeremy loose. If Asik didnt have brick hands jeremy woulda easily had a double double. Props to McHale for leaving jeremy in through the timeout to get his applause. Thats probably the last time Jeremy gets any cheers in the Garden.

Harden--great efficient game. Amazing at getting to the line.

Jeremy good game-- a little sloppy on the drive and on fast breaks, and the shot still wasnt falling but great job of being agressive.

Asik-- has started to regress. He needs to just calm the fuck down when he catches the ball--gather and go up.

Parsons-- good solid rock of a game even though Stephen A has NEVER HEARD OF YOU!!! EVER!!
http://youtu.be/z_ghOeVsYuI (1:45)

Morris--hit some nice big shots

Douglas--playing solid off the bench still on both ends

Delfino-- Hit some nice 3s to close us out

We got Philly on Wednesday. Hopefully Jrue is back.

the Knicks are a different team without Melo.

That starting 5 with Brewer and Copeland, ugh.

123. "RE: Lin Lights Up The Garden (NY vs. Hou.)"
In response to Reply # 0

NEW YORK – Across from the visiting locker room inside Madison Square Garden, the door swung open and Jeremy Lin walked out with a smile stretching the length of Seventh Avenue. For the way he had been torturing himself, for the way the Knicks had gone to great lengths to minimize his legitimacy, Lin's face was flushed with sweet freedom.
"That was awesome," Lin beamed to a Houston Rockets official awaiting him. "That was so much fun."
The Knicks had wanted so badly to embarrass him Monday night, tried so hard that they lost a sense of themselves and twice now let Lin and the Rockets blow them out of the building. They had trashed him publicly and privately upon his departure to Houston as a restricted free agent, treating Lin like a momentary fairy tale free of substance and staying power. For one more stubborn night, Linsanity lived in the Garden.

All over again, Lin broke down defenders, pushed into the paint and scored on runners and layups and whizzed passes to uncovered shooters beyond the 3-point line. All over again, Lin had the game on a yo-yo here, had the Garden mesmerized. Jeremy Lin had 22 points and eight assists in the Rockets' 109-96 victory over the Knicks, Lin had validated himself.
He's no superstar in the NBA – and never will be – but he has a resolve, a fortitude that commands respect. He's never cowered, never backed down. The Knicks were waiting for him – unbeaten in the Garden, best record in the Eastern Conference, celebrating themselves as championship contenders – and Lin and James Harden dismantled them.
"I am glad this is over," Lin told Yahoo! Sports late Monday night. "This is a little bit of closure."
He had left behind the interview podium, the locker room and stood in an empty Garden. Finally, he smiled and allowed, "But I did have fun playing them."
The time of his life. Again.

Amid the Knicks' urgency to chase a championship, they're better off with Raymond Felton and Jason Kidd. Lin is better with this young, rebuilding roster in Houston, where he can succeed and fail at a different pace. Nevertheless, Lin never deserved the disdain and resentment heaped upon him on his way out of New York, the way his talent was easily dismissed as a mere Mike D'Antoni systematic creation.
Carmelo Anthony sat out Monday with a bum ankle, but the Knicks had 'Melo in Houston a month ago and still lost by 28 points.
"They are missing very key guys and I think right at the top of the list is Shump," Lin said. This was the closest thing to a dig that Lin delivered on his return to the Garden, listing reserve guard Iman Shumpert over Anthony, the MVP candidate.
'Melo never wanted Lin with the Knicks. He cramped his style, his space and played that D'Antoni pick-and-roll basketball that Melo loathed. Mostly, he resented the adoration of Lin that came with a blitzkrieg of tsk-tsk-tsks targeted at Anthony for past failures within the context of team. Anthony has come back with a vengeance this season, playing the most mature, most inspired basketball of his life.
Nevertheless, Linsanity is a lingering nuisance to 'Melo and some within the Knicks' core. Most of his teammates loved him, but some never got past petty jealousies. Once and for all, the Knicks wanted to humiliate Lin and puncture the romance that resounded with Lin at the Garden, pop him like a balloon floating down out of the rafters, losing air and altitude at a rapid rate.

Knicks center Tyson Chandler drilled Lin on a baseline drive, a blow to the head that inspired a flagrant foul call. Lin popped up, a smile awash on his face.
"He hit me hard," Lin said. "I still kept coming though."
He never stopped. This was the best of Lin: Instinctive, creative and working in synchronicity with Harden. After a troubling performance on Sunday in Toronto, Lin called his play "terrible," and those within the organization could see him fighting with himself.
"He's hard on himself, the way Shane Battier was here," GM Daryl Morey told Yahoo! Monday night at the Garden. "But Shane had more experience, more to draw from."
Something about the Garden loosened him up again. Something about the muscle memory of those magical 48 days a year ago, when Lin transformed himself from a D-League call-up to a global phenomenon. When Lin listened to the Knicks' advice to get himself an offer sheet for them to match in restricted free agent, he gladly obliged. Lin never wanted to leave New York, and never signed that $25 million offer sheet with an expectation that it would go unmatched.
"Houston kept telling me they didn't believe I'd end up with them either," Lin told Yahoo! Sports recently. "If I don't sign this, I don't have anything else to sign. I was signing it, and I was fully expecting to go back to New York."

Finally, he found his way back on Monday night and Linsanity lived again. On his twisting walk out of the interview room, through the corridors and toward the court level where family and friends awaited him, Lin seemed appreciative of the polite ovation that met him with the introduction of starting lineups, with the No. 17 Knicks jerseys that people pulled out of drawers, with the way that New York still remembered the spectacular regular-season run it had with this un-drafted kid out of Harvard, out of nowhere.
"I saw so many of the same people, the same season-ticket holders," Lin said on his walk through the corridors. "It was like yesterday."
Yesterday is gone, and Lin will forever be a shooting star in the Knicks' sky. He'll never be a franchise player, but Lin belongs and that's something that he desperately wanted the Knicks to see in these two games this season. He wanted them to see that he had staying power, that he had nerve, and so here he had come into Madison Square Garden breathlessly bursting to the basket, getting hit the way that they've hit him since he left town, and ultimately getting to his feet again.
Family and friends awaited him in an empty Garden late Monday night, and Lin excused himself and started walking toward them. For those unforgettable few weeks as a Knick, he made the Garden so loud, so alive. Linsanity made a noise that no one will ever forget here. Now, it sounded so different as a Rocket, his ability to take on the Knicks, take on this magnificent arena, now inspiring an uneasy, stunned silence.
The Knicks had wanted to dismiss him as mythology, a fleeting pixie that had come and gone with magic dust. They wanted Jeremy Lin to go away, never bother them again, and yet he had done it again here. Jeremy Lin is a good player, and perhaps simply he wanted the Knicks to see it for themselves on Monday night.
For everything that's been transposed about it – the look, the sound, the circumstances – Linsanity lived for one more stubborn night at Madison Square Garden.

it sounds good for the story but looking at the way they defended him i can't see how they were trying to embarrass him. He pretty much got in the lane at will. If that was their defense to shut Lin down, then we are a horrible defensive team ya know lol.

maybe felton was trying to go hard at lin on offense but its hard to tell, felton been pressing so much lately..he seems to play his worst when he's trying too hard...the rockets and nets games.

Which is why I didn't believe most of what they said about Melo and Lin having beef...they were writing all that crap while them 2 with Chandler are chillin' in LA at dinner.

As for Felton, maybe it's the bone bruises in both hands, but he does seem pressed at times to prove himself. He's still playing very well, but he'll have a game or 2 where he tries to go Kobe...until he realizes he ain't Kobe

btw how come amare don't sit on the bench during games..he needs to learn the defensive schemes.

their TS% is almost identically poor, their assist to turnover is similar and lin is much better at rebounding and steals. felton scoring more is not a good thing whatsoever - it just means an inefficient scorer is shooting too much.

the point: both are average. anyone praising felton while criticizing lin is a fucking idiot.

Point 1:
No matter how you slice it, 16 and 6.7 is better than 11 and 6.0
I also love the fact you say much better rebounder, when one is at 4 and the other is at 2.8. He's also MUCH better at steals, from a robust 1.8spg compared to a measly 1.2spg. Why not say that Lin is way more of a dominant shot-blocker as well?
Point 2:
I'm shocked that you didn't bring up 3 point %, which is something you said you swear by. Take more 3's and drive to the rim. Felton's shot very well from 3 while Lin hasn't.
Point 3:
I wasn't one of the people hard on Lin. I said he can be playing better, which he can. But I wasn't bashing him on any stretch

16 isn't really better than 11 when both players have 40% FG and a 50% TS. the knicks and rockets shoot 47% from the floor as teams, so the more either one shoots, the more he lowers his team's overall efficiency. in this case, felton is doing more damage to his team's effectiveness because he's taking more shots.

you dig?

also, i like 3PTs because they aid TS%. felton ruins his solid shooting from deep with too many shitty midrange jumpers - that's why his TS% sucks. he should just take threes and score around the hoop (he's not very good at that, though).

http://vorped.com/bball/index.php/player/shotchart/1029-Raymond-Felton/season/2012-2013-REG

LOOK AT ALL THAT GARBAGE FROM MIDRANGE. DISGUSTING. he's the only guy on the knicks still playing stupidly, and that's why he's the only one who hasn't improved this season (unlike anthony, jr, etc)

>their TS% is almost identically poor, their assist to
>turnover is similar and lin is much better at rebounding and
>steals. felton scoring more is not a good thing whatsoever -
>it just means an inefficient scorer is shooting too much.
>
>the point: both are average. anyone praising felton while
>criticizing lin is a fucking idiot.

Hilarious!

Quote:
On a night when the Knicks desperately needed their floor general to throw it into third gear and manage a heady brand of hero-free ball, hangups and hallucinated marquee beefs, Raymond Felton figured out a way to rev the ****er all the way to ninth, sending smoke and sparks and liquid rubber and panic fumes spewing forth like a sarin cloud and choking out the offense at every conceivable turn.

In sane person’s speak, tonight Felton was much more liability than asset – on both ends of the floor. He managed to hit a handful of mid-range jumpers, yes, but only because the Rocket guards were daring him to do so, taking away any and all lob options as long as they could and banking on what has to be,

at this point, the most obvious scouting report in the entire NBA: If you’re matched up on Felton, chances are he has a grudge against you. Doesn’t really matter if it’s real or not, just GO AFTER HIM. Sadly, with D-Will heading to town for a rubber match, Ray won’t have much time for lamentations. Time to brush it off and move on, Ray. And by it, I mean, of course, that that medium sized alpine mountain range on your shoulder.

According to clutchfans

Stephen A gave Lin a lot of credit this morning. He said he thinks Lin "will be a star player in 2-4 years" and the only reason he supported the Kidd/Felton duo was because "With Amare/Melo you only have a 2 year window" and "Lin and Melo's games take away from each other".

i hate stephen a smith so much.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.
