That's the main trait the two share far & away above stuff like stature, ability to play within a team concept, demeanor, shooting efficiency.

being a Portland fan isn't so bad -- at least we have SOME hope for improvement down the line, instead of being held hostage by an aging, in-denial superstar with a bloated contract who burns through teammates like he was the Kim Kardashian of team captaincy.

And although Kobe is the 2nd best at his position of all time and he makes the shots when he needs to, he's more of a high-volume, low-percentage shooter. He'd rather take more shots and force them up to carry the team. Durant doesn't have that pressure on his shoulders-- Westbrook is the high-volume shooter. It provides Durant the opportunity to take better shots than he may need to if he was carrying the bulk of the scoring burden himself.

28. "I don't think Westbrook or Harden is the reason Durant gets good shots"
In response to Reply # 17

Cuz some of his shots are not good shots. He's just THAT good. Last night just highlights what he's capable of. It's damn near effortless for him to flick in a 25 footer on the break or take someone off the dribble and shoot right over them. His combo of size, speed, and shooting touch make him something special. I mean it's not like he's getting kick outs from big men patrolling the paint or someone posting up. If anything I think the fact that he does what he does while playing along side a shot chucker like Westbrook makes him even more amazing than he's given credit for.

In response to Reply # 18

dude enough to say.

But yeah there ain't that much Kobe/Durant comparison, Kobe was what he worked hard & aspired to be in terms of game: Mike (just obviously not at his level).

Durant is sorta his own dude, both him & Bron are unique enough in what they do that the direct analogies/comparisons to prior eras & players don't quite work the way the media tries to make them out to be (for instance, the way they call Lebron Magic when he's not really that much like Magic outside of height/triple-doubles).

Durant is his only player, probably the closest comparison might be a new age George Gervin and he's got elements of some guys, including Kobe, but he's pretty much a singular monster.

Durant: "I've really been looking at the mental aspect of the game, how Bryant approaches it, watching film, studying opponents, just making sure he's vocal every time down," Durant said. "Posting up, the footwork that he uses posting up and how patient he is on the offensive end. I'm learning, every single day. I know that I work hard. It's going to take me some time, but I know that I'll get there."

A 6'11 Kobe is the absolute GOAT. Durant's not even better than him tbh, Kobe done won 2 of the last 4 rings since the Redeem Team came together. That says something for him when his team sucks and he has no hall of famers on his team.

In response to Reply # 70

it took LeBron four years to get to the Finals too, and then it only took four games for him to get out of the Finals.

Rose ain't made it to the Finals yet.

Durant is in his 5th year.

In response to Reply # 0

http://www.cnbc.com/id/47818415?slide=10

2. Kobe Bryant

Overpaid by: $19,693,258
Salary: $25,244,493
Value of Wins: $5,551,235

Team: Los Angeles Lakers
Minutes Played: 2,232
Wins Produced: 2.85

Kobe Bryant is a basketball legend, and as such many people may bristle at his inclusion on this list. However, Berri contends that the player’s sterling reputation is something of a mirage. “The media says Kobe was one of the best players in the game in 2011-12,” he said “But the numbers tell a different story.”

According to Berri, Bryant’s scoring simply comes down to the fact that he takes a lot of shots. “But in contrast to past years, Kobe’s shooting efficiency was below average for a shooting guard, and inefficient shooting doesn’t produce wins,” he said. “However, if you take enough shots you can still score enough points to convince fans – and the media – that you are actually helping a team win.”

But doesn’t Bryant’s star power attract enough fans to help the team’s bottom line? No, according to Berri. “The study of gate revenue reveals that it is wins that drive revenue. Star power is far less important.”
