"Anybody watch the fight a second time?"
Tue Jun-12-12 07:59 PM by El_essence

I initially thought this was a horrible decision. But what made curious to watch it again wasn't the two judges who favored Bradley. It was the one had Pac. That judge had it mad close too.

So on second viewing, I had both guys winning 5 clear rounds:

Bradley had 1,2 10,11,12
Pac had 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9

7 & 8 were toss ups IMO.

7 had a lot of exchanges that, for the most part, Bradley was either getting the better of or at a stalemate. The last exchange at the 30 sec mark was the one Pac got the better of the two.

8 was the opposite in action very little going. Hard to judge.

Neither round I could say was clearly won.

The few things that are clear in this fight:

Compubox is some fuckin bullshit

HBO crew is some fuckin bullshit. The amount punches Pac threw that missed and these guys nutted on themselves over was outrageous

Despite me giving Bradley 5 rounds, he didn't hurt Pac AT ALL. which played into my opinion watching it live

Pac still won this fight. As champ, I'd give him one or both of those toss up rounds. But a) he didn't win by much and b) didn't start taking control until after Bradley fucked his foot up. And even then, Bradley looked like the better pure boxer late.

Pac 7-5 or draw

Bad decision. But not a robbery

I had 3 rounds for Bradley, 3 for Pac & 3 tied thru 9 w/ Bradley winning the last 3. I could see any of the 3 rounds I had tied going either way...

>The few things that are clear in this fight:
>
>Compubox is some fuckin bullshit

Amen... they're watching the fight just like the judges at ringside & aren't necessarily any more accurate.

>HBO crew is some fuckin bullshit. The amount punches Pac threw
>that missed and these guys nutted on themselves over was
>outrageous

Amen again... And they gushed when Pacquiao landed punches many of which were nowhere near as effective as they would have you believe..

>Despite me giving Bradley 5 rounds, he didn't hurt Pac AT ALL.
>which played into my opinion watching it live

He didn't but I thought he controlled the fight most rounds. Pacquiao tried to steal a lot of rounds w/ late flurries but the fact is he didn't get started until 30-90 seconds elapsed in most rounds..

>Pac still won this fight. As champ, I'd give him one or both

That's a fair outcome. I can see how someone could score it for Pac. I scored it for Bradley after a 2nd viewing. However, I think the point is that it was nowhere near the "robbery" that people think it was or that I even thought it was initially watching it. If you thought Bradley was controlling the fight from the outside you might be prone to give him a decision. If you think Manny's late flurries gave him a lot rounds then you'd score it for Manny. There's a lot of room for a close decision for either guy or a draw. It all depends on how you viewed the action.

And then ignoring when Bradley would hit him.

And it was a given that if they ever traded shots, they'd talk up Manny and miss Bradley. I was surprised when Lederman gave Manny round 1; that was the quintisential trying to steal a round. Bradley did most of the work and Manny landed three blows late in the round.

upon first viewing, or a draw. I'm baffled by people
acting like it was a blowout. Pacquiao fought awfully
and took most of the rounds off before throwing
flurries that varied in success.

Bradley who isn't even a slick or that good of a fighter
was making him look like a drunk fighter.
kinda like this http://imgboot.com/images/Arculan/brad.gif

Bradley did well to keep on fighting and punching even
if his punches had little effect. He did land a good
amount of body shots that were ignored. Landed some
good shots to the head as the rounds went along.
Thought rd. 9 was his best rd. I watched the hbo version
just to see if they would comment on the work Bradley was
doing. NOPE. I went to each round I thought bradley
fought pretty well and it was the same exact thing.
no matter how many punches manny missed or that barely
hit bradley's glove, Lampley would go ape shit.

but what makes this post worse - is that if you're giving
Bradley those rounds (which I think is ridiculous) - you're basically
saying that his jab (which was his best punch in the fight) was more
effective than Pac's straight left-hands and power shots.

It's not that just that here was a glaring advantage to Pacquiao in terms of
aggressive punching and punches landed - it's that the people (you
and the 2 other people out of thousands who scored it tight or for Bradley) want
us to believe that Bradley's jabs should be scored on par or even w/ more
emphasis than Pac's power shots.

it's absurd.

what round was it when they showed how many power punches were landed while the round was going on...and it was like 34 to 9...after the fight i realized they were scoring it like golf lol

Not at all. I'm saying he landed more as was the busier fighter in those rounds. I don't think Pac was hurt by anything Bradley hit him with. Most of the rounds I gave Bradley were given away by Pac.

I don't think Pac was all that aggressive in the last 3 rounds or the 1st. The 2nd I'm not against giving to Pac. I don't think the decision was right at all. I don't even disagree with it being considered set up by Arum. I just simply think Bradley won more rounds than I originally thought. No agenda. I'm not even looking forward to a rematch. I think Pac destroys him.

pacquiao cause they came in a

HUGE STRETCH OF DOMINATION lol

from 4 to 9 dude had Bradley neutralized bro

I think he took a later round (11 if I'm not mistaken) and an earlier round

I thought it was 8 - 4 Pacquiao

(watched without sound)

I gave him the 7th and 8th.

I don't think he won any of the last 3 rounds. But 8-4 isn't much different than 7-5

I'm not suggesting the decision was right by any means. Just that my own personal opinion of the fight changed from landslide domination to Pac had to Bradley winning more rounds than I had initially expected.

would've been a draw. but 8-4 or 7-5 to manny seems right.
I actually wanna rewatch Pacquiao-Marquez 2 because I
scored that fight to manny by 1 point.

It's no way he will beat Floyd

Even flat footed Floyd
Will dispose of him Easilly

That's why I was so pissed at the way the negotiations
Were handled

It will be a counter fest for Floyd
I doubt manny will even win 3 rds
In a uneventful as shit event

whether it was definitely the steroids or not his punching was just way more devastating and he was one of the most exciting boxers to watch

I agree that even though Floyd has slipped similarly that it wouldn't be a fair fight

Then again,

That's what people thought about Bradley / Pacquiao

Bradley's elusiveness...he will never get credit for it, even though it's probably the one thing most responsible for him being a P4P fighter.

And to be honest, I gave Pac 10 rounds when I watched the fight, but this really makes me feel like I was swayed by the HBO team and the crowd's reactions...because I remember giving Pacquiao credit for a *bunch* of those missing lefts that Lampley emphatically credited to Pacquiao and that the crowd "ooh"ed. I mean to be fair to them, with some of the punches Bradley looked like he was getting touched because of how he rolled with it, but some of the announcer/crowd reactions were just egregiously biased.

I haven't gone back and rescored--def might still score for Pac--but I feel like I didn't give Bradley enough credit for how competitive he was, especially on a bum foot.

and dude himself said the video is not about who won the fight
because that's obvious
not surprised announcers are miscalling lighting quick punches in real time
not when both dudes threw awkward flurries all fight
*shrug*
bradley is one of those bhop 'hard to look good against him' type fighters
and manny is not the most accurate puncher
both of those things should have been known going in

is just as ridic. this happened many times: http://www.black-and-right.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Manny-Pacquiao-dominates-Timothy-Bradley-during-12-round-bout-but-judges-score-the-fight-otherwise.jpg

if there's going to be a compilation of clips, it needs to be of all of the hits from each fighter. of course it's going to look bad with Lampley's biased commentary and only showing Pac misses and the hardest shots that Bradley landed.

i rewatched the fight on mute, sans Lampley's nuthuggery, and felt i scored liberally for Bradley and still had it 8-4.

comparing faces is also stupid; some fighters just don't get cut and swell instead (eg. James Toney). http://d.yimg.com/i/ng/sp/p5/20120610/08/2588968574.jpg

oh, and i ain't even mad Bradley got the win; i'm not surprised at any decision anymore. and JMM got robbed, so call it karma.

I watched the fight a 2nd time

and almost fell asleep again

I gave Bradley 2 rounds

the first and the last

some things I found interesting

they showed the judges cards after every round

and I don't think they agreed on any round

after the JCC Jr fight, HBO aired The Fight Game

and he interviewed Duane Ford

I got the impression he was giving Bradley rounds because

"this wasn't the Manny Pacquiao we had seen previously"

compounded by what appeared to be a reduction in activity later in the fight

neither of which, imo, should factor into Bradley winning rounds

yes he didn't finish him

yes he seemed to cruise late in the fight

but he was still winning rounds

Max actually described how he scores rounds

first part of the round

Bradley is active

throwing alot of jabs

nothing real big

and then BOOM

Pac lands a bomb that wipes out what Bradley had done

round for Pac

and that's how I saw the entire fight

BOOM

round for Pac

the entire fight had maybe 3-4 memorable punches from Bradley

Pac was landing 3-4 memorable punches every round

I can't say I was even compelled to watch closely enough to score it after the early going when I was hearing Lampley hype up Manny punches that weren't even landing (even re-referencing that corny 'BAM' shit from the Clottey fight on stuff that was grazing shoulders & elbows).

Obviously Bradley never hurt Manny so it's tough to make an argument that he 'won' the fight but goddamn those HBO cats overreact to what Manny's doing & Manny looked like shit anyway plus has gotten the benefit of the doubt for the Marquez fight.

Terrible fight overall.

Bradley was more efficient but didn't have a ton of pop. Pac missed a lot of punches that he caught praise for and the crowd reacted to every little dinky shit move he made.

I'm not an expert on scoring but I thought 8-4 or 7-5 Pac was the move.

I only watched the replay, did not see it live.

I like to see how fighters finish the fight, I liked what I saw out of Bradley in round 11 most of all.

Dunno, tough decision to go against Pac but not the robbery it was made out to be. It rarely is though.

it wasn't some great conspiracy that the Supreme Court needs to investigate...the fight was way closer than I thought it was initially.

what exactly are they suppose to do?

they are employees of HBO

and part of their job is entertainment...no?

they aren't neutral observers

what exactly were they suppose to be commentating on during that fight?

Bradley's incredible ability to remain on his feet after a steady diet of Pac left hands

Bradley's non existent right hand and total dependence on his jab and backpeddling

?

78. "WBO weighs in"
In response to Reply # 0

In the aftermath of the fight, WBO president Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel, whose organization sanctioned the title match, said he would have five judges review the video of the bout. On Wednesday, the results of that review were released. The five judges, whom Valcarcel said are accomplished judges with world title experience -- but whose names were not disclosed -- scored the fight for Pacquiao, 118-110, 117-111, 117-111, 116-112 and 115-113.
