I don't get why folk are disrespecting Bradley like they are as if he should be this easy fight for Manny. This is going to be a good fight but I would not be surprised one bit if Bradley makes Manny look a little wild and undisciplined in this fight.

I'd say he's half-a-class below Marquez as a
fighter, which is nothing to be ashamed of.

He's also not going to beat Pacquiao by decision,
because Pacquiao never loses close decisions. The
only way to beat him is to beat him into a pulp
and I'm not even sure Floyd can beat him into a
pulp.

Keep it going, though.

That has nothing to do with the discussion but I
appreciate the diversion attempt.

>I support usage of birth control IN THIS COUNTRY but I'm not

Uh. The point is freedom, dickhead.

Women shouldn't have to do anything. If they want to
use birth control, they should have the right to.

Manny Pacquiao supports policies that remove that
right.

You can kick and scream all you want to. Its true.

>You ugly american smh

Ugly American = believing that women should be
able to use Birth control

Awesome.

Thanks for your line by line analysis

Last year, Pacquiao reportedly said he would oppose legislation that would make condoms and counselors for family planning more available in his jurisdiction. He was quoted as saying it was sinful to use condoms and have abortions.

Including purse and PPV numbers...

40 million would have doubled his biggest TOTAL payout EVER

We talking about a purse...

Not the totals...

Not the money that Arum gets for making some phone calls and taking out loans...

But a purse...

Manny is getting 6 guaranteed as a purse...

Floyd was giving him 40...

Manny will not clear 20...

he is getting 6 plus whatever his cut of PPV etc, which we can be certain is not a 50/50 split with Arum...

Oh you think Pac Bradley is gonna do a 1.8

ha ha ha....

How fitting is it that Cotto had a guaranteed purse almost as big as the both of them (Bighead Bradley and Steroid. P) combined.

Folks are just trying their best to connect the dots with this in regard to the superfight we all want to see...

Folks are trying justify the parity between the two fighters so they can stand on "the correct side" of the argument between Arum's valuation of Pacquiao and Floyd's valuation of himself...

The $40M purse guarantee to just show up and fight without having to assume any of the risk is telling currently...

Arum is mucking this up and cats are angrily trying to disparage one fighter over the other when this is nothing but what I've said from the beginning...

Banner Wars between Mayweather and Bob Arum...

My posts over the years seem clairvoyant as fuck right now... I feel vindicated... Shit is comedy at this point right now...

Both fighters don't "need" each other but want that money... It all comes down to who will be forced to outright concede their stance because neither are willing to bend. We won't even talk about how the "accommodating" party will be perceived but I know that whatever Mayweather does will be found to be negative....as it always is... He'll never win the battle of public opinion because folks CHOOSE to believe everything negative said about him..

"Inspectah Deck, he's like...he's like that dude thatta sit back and watch you play yourself and all that right? And see you sit there and know you lyin; and he'll take you to court after that, cuz he the Inspectah."

and while I still contend at one point it was Floyd most responsible for preventing the fight from happening - in the past couple years it has absolutely shifted to Arum/Pac who have no real intention to make the fight happen.

Floyd has really come out in the right - both in and out of the ring. He's dominated top competition since his return the sport, and Pac has looked shockingly ordinary in some sequences. Floyd has also won the PR battle outside of the ring.

That said, people don't need to make up stories like this one which posits that "Pac will only make $6 million against Bradley!" to make Pac look bad. Anyone who follows the sport knows that Pac will make double-to-triple that amount - but that's really not what's important to me.

What's important is that both Pac (read Arum) and Floyd need to go the extra mile to ensure the fight happens. Floyd has gone much further than Arum - but I still think he might just have to say "ok, 50/50 split or 60/40 split to the winner"

that said, if Pac-Bradley does low ppv numbers than Floyd is absolutely in the right to demand more of a cut.

and he said NO

what more do you need?

Fighting is about money and legacy

but really MONEY

For Pac to say, I don't want 40 million with the chance to make another 10-15 ppv

I'm cool with 6 million to headline with the chance to make another 10-15 ppv and fight someone who isn't as good as the guy who technically (almost) beat me because it's about LEGACY not money...

FOH

We haven't seen Bezerker Rage Pac since the Clottey fight, and even then (amongst the steroid allegations) his punches didn't cause any damage.

There was not one point in time where I considered Floyd to be ducking Pac, and now it's coming to light the more and more Pac's camp get mad and the truth comes out.

I am sure that you are aware that while Manny (or shall I say Arum's people) were saying NO to 40 million, ALL of the other people underneath them, trainers, PR folk, gyms, etc. were like

In response to Reply # 95

still - Pac deserves the blame for allowing Arum to monopolize his career
path - and Arum has used the "pac doesn't really understand business/english"
angle to take advantage of Pac's career.

I agree that Pac should demand Arum to make the fight or leave - but I also
try to be fair-minded and understand that Pac probably doesn't want to appease
the guy (Floyd) who dragged his name in the dirt and implicated him for PEDs
at a time when Pac was dominating the sport.

Now - do I think Pac could've been juicing in retrospect? I do think it's possible,
but I still operate under the innocent until proven guilty mantra.

>
>what more do you need?

>but really MONEY

I don't think it's prudent to presume that every fighter fights for the
same reason. In fact, that's not the case as some fighters fight for a
myriad of diff. reasons. That said, sure. Money is a huge component to it
and nobody would deny that.

but when you're making as much money as Floyd and Pac are making - they
dont' need the other in order to secure their financial viability.

>For Pac to say, I don't want 40 million with the chance to
>make another 10-15 ppv

>I'm cool with 6 million to headline with the chance to make
>another 10-15 ppv and fight someone who isn't as good as the
>guy who technically (almost) beat me because it's about LEGACY
>not money...
>
>
>FOH

Again - Pac makes so much money off of diff. things that it's really
not simply about the money for him as much as it is him (read: arum) not wanting
to bend to Floyd's demands.

>We haven't seen Bezerker Rage Pac since the Clottey fight, and
>even then (amongst the steroid allegations) his punches didn't
>cause any damage.

to be fair - Clottey is a big ass dude for that weight-class, as was margs.
I don't have a problem w/ him not knocking out those guys - but I did
see something skeptical to boot in both the shane and marquez fights.

>There was not one point in time where I considered Floyd to be
>ducking Pac, and now it's coming to light the more and more
>Pac's camp get mad and the truth comes out.

Nah - Floyd didn't want a piece of Pac after he dispatched Hatton and
Cotto like that. Whether it was because of his PED suspicions or not -
Floyd didn't want the fight at that time.

^^^That's just the argument Vex... Mosley wasn't proven guilty either and had never tested positive for anything given the current conditions of sanctioned testing. He made a court ordered admission that he used PEDs and then it was subsequently explained how concerns like BALCO could easily devise a regimen/program to circumvent the testing protocols.

Like I said countless times...there's shit out there there are currently no tests for and there are also known substances that can be used, masked and/or eliminated from detection altogether given the current protocols... So in a man expressing concern for whether or not his opponent is a clean athlete or not is absolutely smart and very justifiable... He didn't implicate Manny.... Manny's behavior when presented with the shift in testing protocols served to implicate himself... Now whether he has or not used hasn't been established but to argue that he doesn't come off suspicious is ridic....

^^^Agreed but please add that no one should begrudge either guy attempting to make as much money as they can and should..

However, folks need to see that parity is relative and Arum is delusional and spinning this. Sales should be compared to sales. Arum should also be made to adhere to the gag order. He has purposefully derailed this fight because he does not have Manny's "successor" in his stable. He's a clever, evil man that is allowed way too much leeway with the media and blatant prevarication

I'm trying to understand why you don't feel like Floyd is absolutely in the right to demand more of a cut right now? Why would lesser numbers from Pac-Bradley be required for validation? More people pay to watch Floyd Mayweather fights than any other fighter in the sport. That is a fact. If Arum were still promoting Floyd, would he consider even for one second a 50/50 split with Manny?

Floyd is the PPV king - no doubt. However, Manny is comparable in terms of
PPV and overall $ generated in the sport.

Consider this:

Mayweather-Cotto did 1.5 million buys. Pacquiao's November win over Juan Manuel Marquez did 1.25 million. Mayweather's promoter, Golden Boy, reported that Mayweather's win over Victor Ortiz last September generated 1.25 million buys. Top Rank reported Pacquiao's win over Shane Mosley last May did 1.2 million buys.

those are pretty comparable numbers. Also - Cotto is a legitimate draw in his own right so to say that the 1.5 buys were solely because Floyd is a bit misguided.

Point is this: both fighters stand to make more money in their careers than they've ever made before precisely because of the other. Both guys are legitimate cash-cows and I don't think that Floyd's ppv numbers generate such a disparate generation compared to Manny's to demand a 60/40 split.

That said - you're only as good as your last fight. So if Pac-Bradley fails to generate good ppv numbers than i would yield to Floyd's 60/40 demand.

I'll add that Mayweather/ Mosley drew 1.4

so then Pac fights Mosely and draws 1.2

then Floyd gets 1.25 fighting Ortiz, who is NO WHERE near a draw

Manny gets 1.25 fighting JMM for the 3rd time which was his biggest draw due to it being a rematch of a rematch...

Then Floyd gets 1.5 on Cotto, the same Cotto who WHEN HE WAS A BIGGER DRAW fought Pacquiao and and drew 1.2

Floyd is a bigger draw

In response to Reply # 110

What I said is that Pac is comparable in terms of both gate-revenue and ppv-revenue.
I didn't say he draws more (though he does draw slightly more at the gate) --

What I'm saying is - a $40 million flat-fee isn't as good of a deal as it might appear
when the fight would generate more than $150 million --- and it wouldn't
generate that much money simply because it's Money May - but because it's
Money May v. Pac.

But sure - Floyd has edged Pac in PPV numbers - but not by such a wide-mark
as to be able to demand the overwhelming lion-share of the split.

Floyd isn't the only one allowed to be business-savvy, is he?

By Floyd offering 40 million to Pac - it's a *brilliant* business model for him.

Why?

By all conventional standards - Mayweather-Pacquiao could easily generate at least $150 million. Why would Pacquiao accept a flat-fee of $40 million when he could feasibly
make considerably more in the biggest fight of this century?

I actually don't see anything wrong w/ the model that lets both guys agree to
a 45-45 split - with the winner taking home the last ten percent.

^^^ Thank you Ver...

Vex... This is EXACTLY the point..

Everyone wants to ignore this question but the truth of it is that this is the real deal...

If they split the costs 50/50 then the argument for 50/50 can be made but the percentages are NEVER that cut and dry....

So lets say they do this wager style...and "wager" that 10% of the purse and or profits.... Does the winner's percentage of the RISK/expenses become higher as well??

If not then the EFFECTIVE RATE of the expenses also serve to lower the profit margin of the loser...essentially the loser pays most of the tab as well as lose 10% of the purse...

Try out the math.

the truth is - we may have an idea, but none of us really know for certain
the business secrets and expenses of the promotional ventures involved in this.

Both Mayweather Promotions - in assoc. with Golden Boy - and Top Rank - will
share in the promotional expenses for this fight. Likely, it would be a 50/50
split and each side would have creative control of how they wanted to spend
their dollar to promote the fight.

Floyd is of course his own boss - and hires GoldenBoy as his promotional outfit.
Manny acquiesces to Top Rank for that - and they take a bigger cut than
GoldenBoy takes from Floyd as we all know.

But how each fighter and/or company does their business is respective
of their methodology.

^^^Correct if they ever actually make this fight...that would certainly be the assumption. However, for the tried (and failed) haggle for this past May 5th... Top Rank was assuming NONE of the costs associated... The $40M was for *MANNY*..... Whatever happened to that Temporary Stadium on the Vegas strip that Arum wanted to put up though??? I'm still curious about that...

It was a $40M guarantee for Manny to just show up. It would have been the biggest purse of his career free from any of the risk given that he is "taxed" by Arum on both ends.

Of course he gets other revenue streams that Floyd isn't privy to...but that's the point. Manny would not be spending any money to stage the fight by way of promotions, venue, insurances, etc. stateside... "Everything is paid for Player...Here's your $40M..."

The problem was...Arum wanted his cut. This was an offer made to Manny to exclude Arum getting a stateside interest

The way I saw it was that Mayweather was like I'll take the domestic money and my endorsements you take all the rest of your endoresments and monies from your foreign concerns...

I mean...since folks wanna say Manny is getting that money... Where's the problem? Is Manny sharing that non US money with Floyd?

Emphatically no......

>By all conventional standards - Mayweather-Pacquiao could

Because he's not even maximizing what he could should/make with someone who is currently regarded as an "unestablished fighter"

...didn't Arum say something about Manny's opponents having to be able to generate a certain amount of money/interest???? Why then is the guarantee so low??? I smell a rat.

and he's cemented his legacy in his home country without a match up vs Mayweather...

it's just funny to me how ppl on OKS are making it seem like he owes something to people/his bank account to take this fight on Floyd's terms only.

He's already giving a large percentage of his money
to Arum.

He definitely doesn't need Arum at this stage and
the 40 million that Floyd offered him is more than
he'd ever have made in a fight....by far.

So Floyd would be doing better for Manny than
Arum has been doing for Manny.

Think about that in the context of Arum.

"Arum's terms" = LESS than the money Floyd would
pay him.

Like I said, his pride is fuckin with him (c) marcellus wallace...He (and Arum) feel like they deserve a 50/50 split. This fight isn't going to come to fruition until both sides budge a little, and neither side believes they need to (rightfully so).

Pinning this on Manny/Arum is just short sighted IMO

ever asked him to.

that's part of the reason people are making a big deal of it. and he rejected an offer ostensible due to financial terms and then took a fight that would pay less.

it's like if you came to me with a contract dispute and were willing to pay me more than i'd ever been paid but wanted me to work under a senior attorney who would be getting an even higher fee.

and instead of taking that gig, i said go fuck yourself, i'm not answering to that attorney, and took a couple of DUI's for less money instead.

i blame hip-hop.

That's only to give to the state associations within the contract. It has nothing to do with sponsorships and other revenue the fighters are getting.

Anyone that's paid attention to the purses in the UFC in comparison to what they really make (oftentimes even undercard fighters can double or triple their money just by winning the fight bonus, not to mention other aspects that UFC may reward them for, such as extra promotions).

Pacquiao probably will make around $20 mil for that fight.

In short....Manny is confirming EVERYTHING we've all suspected... Sheer unadulterated ether...

We present:

VISIONQWEST FILES LAWSUIT AGAINST TOP RANK, BOB ARUM AND MICHAEL KONCZ IN FEDERAL COURT

http://www.fighthype.com/news/article12442.html

(SWIPE)

On May 18, 2012 VisionQwest Accountancy Group filed a federal lawsuit against boxing promoter Bob Arum and Top Rank, Inc., as well as Michael Koncz who acts as the Business Advisor of boxer Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao for interfering with a contractual relationship and defamation. VisionQwest contracted with Mr. Pacquiao to perform various tax and accounting functions, and to review the financial records prepared by Top Rank on each fight from 2005 and all forward fights through a co-promotion agreement between Top Rank and Pacquiao. VisionQwest was abruptly terminated by Pacquiao based on interference tactics and false allegations made by Michael Koncz, Bob Arum, and Top Rank against VisionQwest.

The VisionQwest complaint specifically alleges that Bob Arum, Top Rank, Inc., Michael Koncz, and other Defendants: intentionally and negligently caused interference with the contract and with the contractual relationship between VisionQwest and Pacquiao, as well as VisionQwest's prospective economic relations; violated unfair business practices; and defamed VisionQwest.

Over the years of 2010 and 2011 VisionQwest spent hours going over contracts and financial documentation prepared by Top Rank. The firm, after careful consideration and review notified their client that the documents being prepared and presented by Top Rank were unreliable. The firm presented the findings to Mr. Pacquiao, as well as other tax matters. Mr. Pacquiao, upset by the findings, entered into a new contract with VisionQwest, to investigate his contracts with Top Rank and evaluate whether he was owed funds. Press releases were issued that Michael Koncz would no longer be involved in a business advisory role and that all business issues would be handled by VisionQwest. Bob Arum, Top Rank, and Michael Koncz thereafter attempted to interfere with the relationship by, among other things, making a series of defamatory statements regarding VisionQwest, designed to persuade Mr. Pacquiao to terminate his contractual relationship with VisionQwest.

VisionQwest has previously filed suit against Manny Pacquiao and MP Promotions USA, Inc. for breach of contract and non-payment of fees. The case has been remanded from Federal Court back to California state court.

I think he's being overlooked. This guy, in my opinion, is going to outwork Pacman and be a lot more efficient, and I think he will expose Manny even more than JMM has. I think it will be a close fight, maybe 7 rounds to 5. Which means Tim has a good chance of being robbed too, but I think he'll do enough to win.
