depends on their draft, but i can see them legitimately getting over ATL and capitalizing somewhat on the uncertainty in New Orleans. Tampa Bay made a big splash in free agency but I think they have too many parts to make a big push for the top.

4 wins in the division is required to pull it off which isn't impossible. If Carolina shore up their defense in the draft, wild isn't out of the question....

While I hate the Falcons with a passion, Carolina has always had trouble with them historically. I expect the birds to win the division and lose to the eventual super bowl champion in the playoffs.

You should have just stopped by saying that throwing for
300 yards is not always great because the points your
making are indicative of someone who didn't watch the games.

In Cam's big passing games, the only reason they were in
the games at all was because of his passing. He was literally
the only one who showed up those days.

The Steve Smith point works in Cam's favor: LAST YEAR Steve
Smith said the HE WAS NO LONGER a #1 receiver and was happy
to take a backseat.

Cam gets there, and Smith is a top receiver. That argument
works in Cam's favor.

So by pointing out the big yardage plays to Smith, you're
actually making the case that Cam made others better, which
he did.

At the beginning of the season...Carolina had leads going into the second half. The reason why Cam threw as much as he did was because of what the defense was giving him. At the beginning of the year, there was a lot of 8 in the box to stop Double Trouble so he threw.

Carolina became a more balanced offense as the season progressed because opponents respected the pass much more than when Jimmy Clausen was at the helm...

alex was talking about the need for the 49ers passing game to improve and was speaking specifically to the notion that it needed to be reflected in 300 yard passing games.

you bitches are so caught up in fantasy stats that you think that shit translates to NFL victories.

that's mild for Skip. not even eyebrow raising worthy. but if you're talking to someone who won 13 games last year about how important it is to have 300 yards per game passing, it IS overblown.

Smith made the quote "juicy" because *he* was the one who brought up Newton. the rest of the interview provides no additional context on why he specifically mentioned Newton and his losing 300-yard passing games.

I *do* think Smith was throwing some shade on Newton, but I know the point he was otherwise trying to make. most of us agree that passing yardage is a metric that depends on situations (although it was poorly argued above).

but the coincidence of Smith's comments on Newton, with your dual Smith + Newton agendas, was just too hilarious not to post. I think you took it a little hard, calling everyone bitches and hoes and itchy rectums.

I'd love a response from Newton:

"I definitely agree with Alex. Throwing for 300 yards is not always what my team needs. But not all of us have the luxury of playing with a defense that holds opponents to 14 points a game. Some of us have to take chances with the football down the field."

not sure if you just read the article or the video, but he was talking about how once you get to 300 yards passing the chance of winning goes down. said it had gotten better in years but would like to see the stat for it.
i mean it wouldn't make much sense to mention the 300+ yard passers who were winning would it? nevermind all those dudes were on established teams that threw early and often (Pats, Saints, Lions, Packers)

I can't see him having any particular issue with Cam Newton, since he was talking about the PANTHERS being behind and him having to throw for a lot to keep them in the game.

and that would be fine, and appropriate. Alex would have done better not to mention his name, but I don't think he was actually shitting on Cam. Uncharacteristic of him to mention anyone's name, even though other players have shit on him, but frustrated with constantly being asked about yards per game when the team had such great success.

than Newton last year...so Smith could've shitted on their winning percentages instead. or just not used anybody's name, like you said. I agree it's a non-story, but perfectly funny in an OKS application (and everyone played their parts).
