Will be a tough, tough sell. Miller Park was a huge battle, and even at their 90s-00s low point, the Brewers were still miles more popular than the Bucks.

The Park East is county-owned, so that's where Abele comes in if that's the way they're going. Also a downtown arena is way better for Marquette. I know you don't care.

Anything less than 50 million and I say fuck em.They can't get a real arena on their own,and they need this place as much as the Bucks do,as playing in an NBA arena is a huge recruiting draw for them.

I'm sure the rent will be higher than it is at the BC, so that will help the operating budget from year to year. But the big money for the basketball program comes from Dick Strong and the Kasten family, not the university itself.

Is there any room downtown? The area by Miller Park has space, but basketball/hockey arenas kind of need to be in an area with bars/restaurants to go to, and there are none of those nearby.

If I'm wrong, it's because I haven't been there in a couple years. But I'm pretty certain that's where they (at one point) wanted to put an MLS/college football stadium for UWM/MU.
They need to do something with that space.

It used to be a freeway span that ran from the lake to downtown. There's still a huge parcel right across the street from the Bradley Center. It's county-owned, but in the middle of downtown, which has made developing it a problem, since both the city and county would want the tax revenues. I have a feeling they've kept at least part of it open for the purpose of building a new arena though.
