"Melo is not that dude!"

You can not build a contender around a one dimensional player. he's too streaky of a scorer and he just isn't good at anything else on the court. he's not a leader either. How can he just fizzle out in the 4th like he has the past 2 games. his teammates bailed him out against the Celtics and now is the time for him to step it up.

In response to Reply # 3

Tyson is a leader and an all Nba defender plus dudes got a ring already. We seen what happened to Dallas as soon as he left. Melo is a scorer he just got the scoring title but thats all he good for. You can make his points up but it's alot harder to find really good defense.

Melo just isn't someone you can build a legitimate championship contender around.

It's not 'hatin' on Melo either but just stating who he is as a player.

I predicted his time in NY is going to mirror 'Starbury's' career more so than Ewing's (or Bernard King's), lots of expectations ending in unfulfilled potential.

2 1st rd exits

and

a seemingly embarrassing semifinals exit currently

Nah, not even close.

Ewing led teams were at least getting out of the 2nd round and made it to a couple of ECFs. Also, Ewing got to 2 finals, played in one...

I believe this past season will turn out to be Melo's and the knicks' best season in his tenure because several teams in the east are going to be better (than them) next season...

You can't build a team around him and win a chip. GOAT told him to his face he doesn't even try on defense. However, he's an all-star that never misses the playoffs.

>Are you saying that Melo is the 31st best player in the
>league?

His ranking in the league is irrelevant right now. Melo can get you to the playoffs with his scoring. However, that's all he does. He's not known for his defense. He's not known for setting up teammates. His 1.7 apg proves this statement. Teams focus on stopping him in the playoffs and he refuses to set up his teammates. This would make the game harder for the opposing team. If Kobe can facilitate so can Melo.

Melo's not a leader. Your best player isn't always a leader. However, he was compared to Lebron who is one of the best leaders in the league.

This isn't a knock on Melo because there are arguably 10 franchise players in the league. Melo ain't one of them. However, he's one of the league's best scoters and a perennial all-star.

dirk was always a better player than melo, a better scorer, a better rebounder, better within the framework of an offense, etc.

i dont think anyone could really question that he could win a title after 2006, although people managed to. any time you come within two games, that's a feather in your cap, not an indictment.

of course people didnt learn from that even after he won. they said the same thing about james coming two games short. lol.

We lose to Indiana the way we have been and this is the 1st year I look at melo like he came up shorter than he should have.

As for the dirk comparison's, you are agreeing with my overall point and the Lebron part only reinforces that idea.

actually makes him a better defender, since Melo has yet to do the same in his entire career.

The point is, Dirk in his prime was better than Melo at absolutely everything & has the numbers/accolades/team-accomplishments that prove that too.

Does that make sense to you yet?

Its called calling it like it is. Jr has always been streaky with incredible highs and incredible lows and Chandler is a limited offensive player but a great defender. He got outplayed by Hibbert and KG...what should knick fans be saying? lol

He's verry uhfishent, best player in histree of all times.

Melo is out there by himself, or that there is no team around him.. or the knicks couldn't contend because the lack of a supporting cast.

now that they get outplayed by a team that is coached better and have more solidified roles for its talent..

now its "lol @ the second option being jr smith" tyson chandler so limited... nobody mentioning felton or shump

Lets call a spade a spade.. the knicks got talent. its a talented roster. Mike Woodson looking suspect, and they have ZERO leadership.

How is your team on a supreme scoring slump, but you got niggas like Copeland on the bench?

Yall been riding with that roster all the way to the number 2 seed, atlantic division titles..sixth man of the year...first team all defense

dont back out on niggas now because they not shaq and kobe. They should be winning this series but aint.

Melo hasn't been stellar but 26ppg (on 40% shooting), 8.5rpg isn't exactly terrible. Indiana is a very good defensive team that has made Melo less efficient. However, less efficient isn't the same as non-existence which is what everyone other than Felton has been for the majority of this series. When you add in the rebounding advantage for Indy you get a 3-1 series lead for the Pacers.

Melo hasn't been spectacular but he's hardly the main issue in this series. Other guys got score, rebound and defend.

for Bron's last 2 years in Cleveland. And there's not much of a difference between the 2-8 then and the 2-8 now. In fact, I'd argue the Celts, Magic, and Pistons were better than than the 2-8 EC teams this year, maybe even with Derrick Rose.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

And Karl is coach of the year

Literally the only thing bad you can say about Woody is that he's
black

He's maximized talent like no other team

Even the Bulls have 2 all-stars and one consistent double double
guy (Deng, Noah and Boozer)

Much more talent than the Knicks have

Our team actually matches up better agains Mia than ind b/c of Indys size and the fact that Miami will give you open 3's.

can we look how these teams did against each other in the offs last year? Miami's temporary slippage going down 2-1 against the Pacers vs their total domination of the Knicks should be taken as a scenario that could easily be repeated

If this Knicks showed up against the Heat oh my god

ya'll acting like it's so implausible that we're losing to them. this isn't 1 losing to an 8. it's a 2 losing to a 3. they were only a couple games back from us in the standings. we split the season series with them. i mean don't get me wrong, it sucks to be losing, but i'm not at all shocked or anything. i said it was going to be a tough series from the door.

this hating-Melo-for-the-sake-of-hating-Melo agenda is getting kinda tired. or is it cuz he's on the Knicks now? i honestly don't remember this much vitriol towards the kid in Denver. maybe it was there waiting to bubble over. combining Melo-hate with Knicks-hate is one powerful drug, huh? throw in a little sprinkle of some NYK success and ya'll start foaming at the mouth.

very interesting to watch.

Also he was actually able to make a gunning SG disguised as a PG work as a #2 option.

Edit: That's an Iverson reference. You know. The superstar Melo played with.

Losing to eventual world champion Lakers in 6 games

Durant can't make it past the second round without a legit 2nd option

Durant's failures take the steam out of the anti-Melo stance

With a better team than Durant has right today, by the way.

No Russ OKC <<< Denver's 2009 team

K-Mart
Birdman
Chauncey
Nene
JR Smith

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Ibaka
Kevin Martin
Kendrick Perkins
etc etc

It's really not much of a debate.

I'm not saying Durant shouldn't get fried, but what I am saying is none of this makes any difference that Melo is terrible right now.

I like seeing Knick fans cry on account of their team being literally the worst franchise in the NBA since people thought Y2K was gonna kill everyone.

In terms of Melo vs. Durant? Who gives a fuck? I don't.

But hey, nice debating.

Simple question - was Melo's 2009 Nuggets team better than OKC without Westbrook? I'll bet you don't answer.

Fry Durant for all I care...but your god Melo is fuckin up too...

Are the 2013 Knicks without their superstar better than the
Heat without theirs, or the Lakers without theirs, or OKC
without theirs or San Antonio without theirs (Pick one of the
3) or....or.....or....

The 2013 Knicks are the WORST TEAM in the playoffs
when yout take away their star. WORSE than the 8 seeds in
EITHER conference.

Hell, the SIX SEED Warriors even won a game with their
star player playing like shit...and have won without their
ONLY ALL STAR

Carmelo has, BY FAR, the worst supporting cast. BY FAR.

I got you so mad, you're backtracking an copping pleas for
Carmelo getting to the WC FINALS the last time he had a
DECENT TEAM

Durant CHOKING and being AWFUL

Since he couldn't play with anyone else who wasnt a pass first grinder, ever. Philly was the place where otherwise good offensive players went to die. Stackhouse, Webber(cats forget he was 20-10-5 before he got sent to Philly that year), even lesser guys like Hughes and Thomas had better careers once they got away from Iverson.

Iverson was never built to be in a "batman-robin" pairing. He had success when he was lthe only scorer and surrounded by a bunch of George Lynch's, Eric Snow's, Aaron Mckie's, etc.

Carmelo "can't advance in the playoffs" IMMEDIATELY got to the
WC Finals and gave the Lakers a hell of a series.

In Denver his teams were competitive and also had other all-stars like Billups and Iverson.

Outside of their outstanding freshmen years, there is not much comparison between their level of accomplishment or the quality of their play. Durant was on a linear swing personally and team-wise. He lost Russy this year, so what? If he were in the East, his team have likely have advanced anyway. Even in a year where he loses the team's No. 3 player at the jump and their No. 1B player in the first round, Durant has done as much or more than Melo. Ouch.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

This agenda had some legs, but went down the drain the minute
Russy busted his kneecap

Durant's failure proves why Carmelo is so valuable -- its HARD to
carrying a shitty team. Carmelo did it for a whole season. Durant
can't do it for two playoff rounds.

Kevin Martin would immediately be the 2nd best scorer on the Knicks
if he played for them. Durant has much more help and is going to go no
further in the playoffs than a Knick team featuring JR Smith as the #2 scorer.

JR Smith is shooting like 28%, amd Tyson Chandler is averaging about as many fouls per game as rebounds per game. Those are the Knicks 2nd and 3rd best players......and yet all some of you see is Melo.

I think it's impressive that Melo is doing what he is this series, given the lack of support he's getting offensively. The way things have gone he's often the only scoring threat on the floor. Chandler can't score, JR can't throw a rock in the ocean, Kidd hasn't made a shot in a month, nobody wanted K Mart and Indiana doesn't even guard him. It's Melo, and sometimes Felton.

LOL at this being about Melo.

You can't be the star player and play as poorly as Melo has and think none of the criticism should be directed his way. Yes, other key players aren't playing well either but it all begins and ends w/the star player which is Melo. He's shooting poorly in this series just as he did in the Celtics series. He's got like *5* assists in the entire series and yet again he's failed to contribute consistently in the one area the knicks needed it the most - rebounding. To be honest, he's not a leader; he doesn't inspire his teammates w/his play because his skill set is so singular...

He's really gotten exposed in this series for what he really is: a high volume inefficient, gunner whose capable on occasion of playing at an elite level but he's still too inconsistent to put him in that category w/the elite players in the league.

Nah, the success the Nuggets had that season had more to do w/the acquisition of Chauncey than it did Melo. Billups was the difference maker that season but why let the truth get in the way of an agenda.

Lets see if that narrative spares him criticism when the knicks are ousted. That should be his comments in the press conference: I once got to a WCF (never mind that I was sent home the previous 8 yrs in the 1st rd.) and Durant hasn't.

The 9 rebounds he got in the last game really meant nothing because the knicks were never in that game anyway.

So I guess you agree that his scoreless 4th really wasn't that big of a deal, since they weren't in the game anyway.

Hilarious attempt to spin 9 rebounds per game in a series as not enough. Really....I laughed.

But we're talking TWO gms though, not juts fhe last gm. And just because the team was trailing the entire gm doesn't exempt him from being called out for going scoreless...there's a such thing as a 4th quarter comeback and they typically get started by the team's best player...

No spin, the gms in which they got crushed on the glass were the 2 road losses and his average of 7 wasn't nearly enough...I notice you haven't even attempted to justify/explain why he has 5 more assists in this series than Rasheed Wallace who hasn't played one game lol...

Still trying to wrap my head around his 9 rebounds not mattering because they "were never in the game", but his scoreless 4th mattering because they "could've came back."

First, let address your first comment abt no one else being able to score. Ok, lets forget abt this series, what was the reason why Melo had only 6 total assists in the entire series vs Boston? Because they won that series so somebody else besides him was shooting and scoring the ball...oh, I know: he was making the past that led to the past that led to the assists.

And your second point: yes, in any gm teams make runs, especially a playoff game which is why him going scoreless is no excuse...in two gms, not just the last gm which you seem to only want to focus on. His 9 rebs are nothing more than a footnote when you got beat as soundly as the knicks did. You act he pulled down 15+ rebounds lol...

Melo has played poorly..why say dumb ish like this tho. Only makes you look like a doofus.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

26ppg on 40% shooting. It's not a great shooting percentage but he's still carrying his weight.

>Yes, other key players aren't playing well either but it all
>begins and ends w/the star player which is Melo.

But those other key players playing well is how the Knicks got a 2 seed. If they were playing well now they might be in control of this series.

He's shooting
>poorly in this series just as he did in the Celtics series.
>He's got like *5* assists in the entire series and yet again
>he's failed to contribute consistently in the one area the
>knicks needed it the most - rebounding. To be honest, he's not
>a leader; he doesn't inspire his teammates w/his play because
>his skill set is so singular...

Again, his percentage isn't great but he's stil scoring 26ppg. He never going to be a high assist guy but he's average 8.5rbs per game i this series which is MORE than adequate.

>
>He's really gotten exposed in this series for what he really
>is: a high volume inefficient, gunner whose capable on
>occasion of playing at an elite level but he's still too
>inconsistent to put him in that category w/the elite players
>in the league.
>

So he's not the best player in the league. Ok. He's still a pretty good player. Some criticism is deserved but he's not the main reason they're losing to Indy...

As for AI > Melo

What team did 'Melo leave that got IMMEDIATELY better and further

Oh, ok.

AI is a ball hoggedy team destructor. He left the Nuggs, they improve
dramatically

Carmelo left the Nuggs, they get embarrassed by a 6 seed playing
without their only all star

Goddamn!!! I didn't MEAN to be this correct and etherous

1. i been frying durant on the low for about 2 months. i believe russy is the leader of the teama and durant ain't built for it.

2. how can it be with the SAME vigor when this is durant's first time flaming out? this his first time not playing to expectations, dogg. meanwhile, melo has led his teams to first round exits every year but one.

3. durant flaming out ain't gonna save melo, dogg. he 24. melo bout to turn 30. melo's time as a "leader" and "franchise" guy are OVER. he's proven it false.

>I still gotta say what I got to, and call you out for being

wrong about melo? NO ONE who's crticized melo for being a ballhoggedy loser is WRONG.

they both had enough to win.

no. but no one cares. durant hasn't consistently flamed out for 10 years. i said this would be the first chink in his armor and it is.

>Durant can't get past the second fucking ROUND.

how many times did melo lose in the FIRST ROUND? there is just too much prologue with melo to ignore. i was a fan and then i had to stop defending this shit. and i am starting to do the same with durant. i already did it with chris paul.

And all I get
>is
>in return is niggas cysing Chauncey Billups!?!?!??!

chauncey billups BALLED in those 2009 playoffs and helped melo get to those FINALS that you think shields him from criticism. now, he not good enough. like, chauncey billups cojones speak for themselves.

honestly, i wasn't even aware of what they said as far as AI.

In response to Reply # 0

Bron
KD
CP3

and who else was better? Russ? Harden? Tony? Lol FOH

Someone that was one of the best 5 players in the league with his credentials is most certainly "that dude".

LOL @ the league leading scorer being a "streaky scorer"

And please, miss me with all that bs about him not being able to win when the next best offensive option on his team right now is fuckin Raymond Felton.

As someone already mentioned, KD is a prime example this year that you can't win anything by yourself. Paul couldn't do it. Even LeBron couldn't. Kobe has shown us numerous times it can't be done.

How much did MJ win before Pip was really good?

It's not Melo's fault that JR can't make a damn lay up right now.

Nobody can win when they have to score every point themselves. Stop making up dumb shit and inventing reasons to hate.

better...but he isn't the biggest problem.

In real life, there's enough blame to go around for everyone.

and they don't make the game easier on themselves. and they are so predictable on offense. i mean Melo and JR Smith and then Felton and after that who else is going to score?

truth is the knicks were exposed way back in the season and now those 3's aren't dropping and Melo has been bricking and shooting himself into anything except a rhythm.

Melo still hasn't played with a team or teammates that have truly challenged him or a coach for that matter.

put Melo with Pop and see the results instantly.

In response to Reply # 0

when you put it in perspective and compare him with someone like Kobe who's a gunner. If Kobe saw he was only dishing out 1 assist per game in a series, he'd make it a point to go out there and start facilitating like we saw him do during the regular season just to prove a point. What's now alarming about Melo is that he doesn't even get that. Shot's not falling, he's not dishing, and doesn't get it. I find his basketball brain very alarming since he's a "superstar". Blame his team if you want to but I have never seen this from someone of his caliber. Just sayin.

In response to Reply # 187

he's been less selfish this series but shots just ain't falling.

My issue isn't with Melo's assist numbers but rather his shot selection.
If they are good shots take them, if not don't.

but the answer isn't the kobe route, of passing to get numbers just to get some assist numbers. More opportunities aren't gonna make jr and kidd start hitting shots anyway nor would it help this current team.

In response to Reply # 188

Advanced stat that measures the FG% on the shots that follow
his passes

Its not random

He's a fabulous passer

Here's what is happening:

a) He passes effectively, not randomly, hence his passes leading
to high percentage field goals.

b) He doesn't get a lot of assists because his teammates fucking
suck rabbit dick, which is why he's exhausted himself having to
fucking chuck all season long.

Here are the LEGITIMATE Knick choices:

- Carmelo shoot

OR

- Kidd throw a anvil at the rim

- Felton be fat and get his shot blocked

- LOL Tyson Chandler

- Shumpert throw a torpedo at the rim

- LOL JR Smith

- Prigioni be too scared to shoot

- Kenyon Martin shoot a 5th grade girls form jumpshot

The Knicks are AWFUL offensively

TERRIBLE

The better option is Carmelo shooting an off balance, difficult
shot

That's why he fucking shoots

Because everyone else fucking suckjs

In response to Reply # 188

when i was a fan and used to DEFEND this bamma, i always said his vision was underrated and he don't get enough credit for it. dogg, he had 7 dimes in the national title game. people talked about what a willing passer he was for such a great scoring talent and how he could be a grant hill type passer and all-around player.

why do y'all DO THIS??? why lie when people can go back and check stuff. everything ain't as bad as the OKS search function.

he has decided to NOT pass. don't act like he CAN'T.

LOOK HOW UNSELFISH HE IS NOW, BEING ALL BOUGHT IN AND WHATNOT!

*highest usage rate in entire NBA
* more shot attempts than anyone in entire nba
* lowest assist rate of his career
*averaging under two assists a game in postseason, leads all playoff players in FG attempts

Good. Whether he averages 2 or 4 or whatever, really doesn't matter and his critics being obsessed with his stats don't matter. He shouldn't pay any attention to it, and neither should Kobe. Play your game.

He averaged 5 per game in the 2011 playoffs.....they lost and nobody cared about his impressive assists per game average in the series.
