that said, a pablo/kidd second unit w/ stat as the big, jr the shooter, and maybe, maybe novak might work.

if the 2 pg's can't get those guys shots, (because each of them getting their own shot is a disaster) they shouldn't be playing.

Yeah, I'm not that big a fan of trying something new in the playoffs instead of what got you there, however...

I also agree with this. Pablo and Amare could get some decent pick and rolls going too, perhaps.

can't believe woodson has officially pitched the spread, three-happy offense that made the knicks a good team this season. they have enough talent to beat the pacers in a grind-out game, but it wouldn't be my chosen strategy. this is two series straight where they've let the opponent dictate the style of play.

work in 7 game series when you playing the same team every night. Check D'antoni's jewelry case if you don't believe me.

Knicks were getting killed inside, killed on the glass, killed in the post, shooting poorly from 3's and your suggestion is shoot more 3's lol.

I thought they shoulda went with the big lineup from jump and given camby some minutes since chandler obviously was having a hard time with Hibbert.

Knicks have struggled against bigger physical teams like Indiana all along so this series hasn't been surprising at all.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

woodson took my team further than d'antoni could.

Woodson has more playoff victories with the knicks in 1.5 years than dantoni has in however many years we were stuck with his dumbass.

Woodson likely isn't the long term answer but he's ridiculously better than mike d'antoni.

In these playoffs:
Knicks are 0 - 3 (soon to be 0 - 4) when shooting sub-30% from 3.
They are 5 - 1 when shooting over 30% from 3.

If they heat up from 3, they can get that down in no time. Woodson really needs to figure out how to get his squad to show up in the first half. They can't sleepwalk through the first like they did in the Celtics series.

they iso to death. don't really spread the ball. Melo's game is ugly. JR I do like, Novak and Chandler are a good watch. they just, IDK. it might just be me.

and I'm a bull fan, and during the season, we had some UGLY games. but they always play like they give a shit. And that gives games a sense of urgency if that makes sense.

If they didnt have scrubs like him on the floor, Melo might be able to pick up a few dimes. As it is, he's the only scorer they have now.

George does much more (besides scoring) than Melo...I think Melo has a TOTAL of 5 assists in this entire series. All he does is hoist up a lot of bad shots...

I been saying Melo ain't that dude, he's good no doubt...but far from great. He didn't really play all that well against the C's either but since the knicks won the series he was able to escape criticism for his spotty play.

He was given a chance to redeem himself vs the pacers but he hasn't thus far and once this series concludes (in a loss) then you'll see the media, particularly the NY media go in on him...

at least.

The thing is that if you are going to roast him when he's played well in losses in previous playoffs you can't roast him for playing poorly when the team wins.

There's enough blame to go around this whole postseason though, from the gm, coaches, down to every player.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

I said over and over that the biggest impact coaches usually have is deciding who plays. Woodson has absolutely shit the bed is series by refusing to keep shooters on the floor and entirely shifting away from what made the team good all season. It's seriously INSANE

my stance has always been that LITERALLY CONTROLLING WHO PLAYS AND WHEN is the most important aspect of a coach's job. anyone who says differently is a fool.

deciding on what specific situations to double a specific player could be based on scouting, analytics, assistant coaches, whatever. we simply don't know who decides what prior to the game.

or maybe YOU know exactly how and why the nuggets decided to guard curry and looking at video footage had nothing to do with it.

The Pacers are really good.

I don't understand the lineups Woodson's gone with recently. He's been loyal to a fault with JR and Kidd especially. If the offense has been such an issue, why not toss Copeland or Novak out there a few minutes and let them chuck up shots? Don't wait until the game is out of hand already.

Except he's playing like ass in the playoffs, and he's not what you make him out to be.

And I'm not a Compton Dominguez fan.

A Cuse fan going out of his way to go extra hard at someone who may go down as the best Orangeman ever(chip + 2nd best pro career to Bing right now) is definitely odd. What he do to you?

thank you. when woodson stopped playing floor-spacing shooters like novak, prig and cope, the knicks' d'antoni-based offense fell apart. it's honestly one of the worst postseason coaching performances i've ever seen. it's unbelievable.

this dude broke it down nicely:

http://www.postingandtoasting.com/2013/5/14/4332092/recap-pacers-93-knicks-82-the-entire-team-choked-starting-with-woodson

The Knicks needed to adjust in Game 4, and they did! Mike Woodson didn't adjust by pushing back, though. He kept pulling. His stripping of New York's identity had been subtle, pernicious through three games. He'd been creeping away from point guard tandems, small lineups, and shooters. In Game 4, he quit creeping and just ripped the Knicks' face off. Pablo Prigioni and his consistently positive contributions fell almost entirely out of the rotation. Big lineups-- include a starting group with Carmelo Anthony at the three and Kenyon Martin and Tyson Chandler up front-- ate up even more time. Woodson gave the usual minutes to Jason Kidd's doddering husk. He gave extra minutes to the shootersicle in J.R. Smith's jersey. Chris Copeland and Steve Novak stayed shelved until it was too late. The Knicks kept sending weak doubles and rotating late instead of trying their hand at, you know, regular defense.

Woodson doubled down on everything that had been failing and everything that had been failing doubled down on failing. That's quadrupling down, you guys.

Than the Knicks since 1999.

The Warriors have won 2 games in the 2nd round at least twice now.
The Bucks made a ECF.
The Nets went to 2 Finals.
The Jazz went to a WCF.
The Sixers went to a Finals.
The Raptors went to a Game 7 in the 2nd round.
The Pacers went to a Finals.
The Bulls went to an ECF.
The Celtics won a title.
The Heat won 2 titles.
The Pistons won a title.
The Cavs went to a Finals.
The Magic went to a Finals.
The Thunder went to a Finals.
The Nuggets went to a WCF.
The Blazers went to a WCF.
The Timberwolves went to a WCF.
The Clippers went to a Game 7 in the 2nd round.
The Lakers won 5 titles.
The Spurs won 4 titles.
The Mavericks won a title.
The Kings went to a WCF.
The Suns went to a couple WCFs.
The Grizzlies have won 3 games in the 2nd round.
The Rockets went to a Game 7 in the semis.

STILL IN PLAY:
The Hornets went to a Game 6 in the semis.
The Hawks went to a Game 6 in the semis.

THEY HAVE DONE BETTER THAN:
The Wizards got swept in a semis.
The Bobcats haven't gotten past the first round.

it's important to remember that outside of winning Game 4 when they looked like they might be getting swept last season by the Heat, the Knicks hadn't won a playoff *game* let alone series until this season.

Hawks & Hornets top that easy.

The Washington Wizards have won a series & 8 total games in the playoffs this century.

So were back to the Bobcats, who didn't exist for the first half of the last decade.

So basically, of all eligible participants, the New York Knicks are the least successful NBA franchise of the 21st Century when you really get down to it.

Tyson was right no ball movement and they are a old team and no rhythm whatsoever. JR Smith is more like a Shot JR Ewing on the ground and out of breathe.

i mean the Knicks gotta have a Help wanted sign for PG

Power forward, about 3 new bench cats

and a new coach.

Melo might need to move outta New York because this is going to be the norm unless they get another legit scorer and Melo might be the best pure scorer in the L, however he is limited in his vision and this team is too old and too predictable and they are soft as all get up.

believe me the Nets will be running the Bridge while the Knicks will be settling and just aren't going to get any better.

as for the Pacers they are a better version of the Bulls IMO and yet they will hit a wall from time to time. all depends if they can bring that flavor on the road.

i see the pacers as the 2nd best team in the east mentally ,meanwhile the knicks, nets and bulls seem better on paper however paper doesn't tell even half the story

It's funny to me to see a lot of Knicks fans on twitter saying "welp, the Pacers are just really good"

The Pacers haven't really played THAT well, yes their shots are falling as they get more second chance shots then any team ever, but as bad as the Knicks have played Indy shouldve won by 30 last night.

As bad as the Knicks played AGAIN last night they still cut it to 10 with a few minutes left and had a few chances to cut it lower because the Pacers offense is not good enough to ever really pull away. The Knicks have to start hitting shots based purely on the law of averages, JR's shots were all rimming out last night and he got going in the 4th. If the Knicks can get some momentum back at home in game 5 ALL of the pressure is on Indy in game 6. But Jesus Woodson, how can you justify minutes for Kidd and Kmart at this point? Let Priggy have ALL of Kidd's minutes and roll the dice with Copeland.

Heat will roll either team but as a fan I'd still prefer watching the Knicks play the Heat

Woodson needs to come up with something to free up more perimeter shooters. Also, they also have to rebound much better. That zone defense isn't helping.

puts a ton of pressure on indy in game 6, who even in a game like game 4, have trouble putting the knicks away when they are hitting everything and the knicks are hitting nothing...

it's a big if that the knicks snap out of this shooting funk but if it does happen they can beat indy 3x in a row

played bad but we the ones with 3 L's lmao.

If Paul George wasn't having a bad shooting series or even David West for that matter we get killed. So as easy as Melo shots 'could' start falling, so can George's.

Some things that won't change are Indy's size and the knicks lack of it.

I have little confidence that Melo, Felton, smith, Jr and Shump are going to come off this slide at the same time tho.

I disagree INdy has been hitting the open shots this series while i would say knicks are shooting like 20% on open shots it is almost amazing how many open shots they missed in game 4, george hill and Lance were hitting everything and augstin in game one also, like rj said law of averages is that the knicks will get hot in game five win it and since we won't have some 2 or 3 day delay to the next game it will carryover to game six

and i think pacers better tighten up there d if they face miami because those open shots that knicks are bricking miami will bang them to death.

Plus it doesnt help that woodson doesnt put his 3 best shooters in novak cope and pabo on the court sometimes.

What I'd like to have right now is for all you fat, out of shape, small dick niggas to keep the noise down while I take my robe off and show all the ladies what a real man is supposed to look like (C) Ravishing Rick Rude

playing great basketball offensively which was RJC's point. they are sloppy on offense and haven't shot particularly well as a group.

The difference is that they have had different guys step up and carry the offense at different points in the series. Knicks haven't.

the interesting quote of the night was at one point Knicks had only one player UNDER 27 (Shump Dawg) on the floor

Pacers have only one player OVER 27 (West I'm guessing)

Difference is that SA is obviously better coached and can play championship level basketball as they did last night pretty reliably in the post season

Knicks just old

The small ball lineup wasn't working against indiana..it wasn't really working against Boston either. That style is not conducive to the playoffs and as soon as the playoffs started, knicks offense struggled.

Its really not that shocking at all.

if he kept the small lineup and we lost like we did the other games, the articles would be about him being stubborn and refusing to make any adjustments.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.
